Detroit Tigers Caps

A useful tool to dating Detroit Tigers images is to examine the caps. The 5 caps below ranging from 1922 to 1926 in date order reveals a distinct difference in the caps, sometimes subtle, sometimes more distinctive.

Everett Scott 1914

Thank you in respect of the Sperber colorization.
The quest to find a 1924 New York Yankee player in the uniform from that year who had not yet been colorized defeated me. The next criteria I have used is to find a player who has been colorized but not as a Yankee. The outcome revealed a highly surprising result. Captain of both the Red Sox and Yankees and holder of the record for most consecutive games played, until surpassed by Lou Gehrig. Still remains third in the all-time list in that category. Many know it was Scott that Gehrig surpassed but who did Scott pass to become the leader is the category. A fairly unknown piece of trivia. The answer is George Pinkney, and Scott went on to comfortably more than double Pinkney's feat, spread over 5 years of 577 games. |

Not difficult to find quality images of Ens from his days in team management but images from his playing days are not so easy to discover. This is a 1924 image of Ens with Pittsburgh. |

Another candidate for colorization is Trevino, who briefly played for the Angels in 1968 and then played many years in Mexico.
