After feasting on the Braves and Red Sox, the Yanks have been in a bit of a funk lately (injuries are not helping). The Rays swept us; maybe the Mets will continue the trend. |

What, 5 "games" in 3 days seems silly? Hope there are enough juice boxes for everyone! Maybe Hal Steinbrenner is the snack dad for the weekend! No more positive tests so game on tomorrow, barring unrelated problems. And no more Marlins on the schedule after this, one piece of good news in a rotten year. |

Just saying. It's been a slow day in retirement. EDIT: Ooops, bad math. I would be 4 1/2 games if there was only one doubleheader. For two doubleheaders, 4 games at 7 innings each, a total of 8 innings are forgone; almost an entire game! |
Well, most of those "Buy 4, Get 1 Free" offers just try to clear crap off the books, aren't they?
In this case the crap are the lame duck Mets, and the books are your pocket schedule. :p |

But those 2021 tickets could run out any second. :p
I find it quite bold to send that email in general given that chances are not exactly great that Corona will be eradicated by then... But, eh, it's the Mets... Taking your dosh now, but will happily let you beg for a refund later. Is there a refund on Cano? No? |

No, but he IS paid on the installment plan, $20M down and $20M until he's compost! I swore off buying tickets in advance even before the pandemic/uncertainly, last year I bought tickets ahead for 3 games over two separate trips, and every one of them featured a rain delay where the Mets said literally nothing about their plans until the start time had already passed. You might remember that dumb game that started at 9:30PM which was of course a Jake start? I stood around at Citi watching mind-boggling amounts of rain and spectacular thunder and lightning and chatted with the ballpark staff who kept getting more and more irate as all their schedules got shredded. Apparently rain delays really mess up their breaks/rotations/etc., and all that was communicated until 8:30 at least was a big picture of sad Mr. Met holding an umbrella telling us it was a rain delay. It's almost like Fred and Jeff don't want to give refunds! (TBF they did give a free ticket code later but that doesn't help much as the 7 train doesn't run to San Francisco) |
getting ready to load up last night's archived game-z
ssssshhh, don't tell me how it/they come out!

Don't forget there was twice the fun on offer yesterday!
Or 14/9 times the fun. Or something. |

Math is not my strong suit, but I'm pretty sure 0*14 still equals 0! Which is about the level of my faith that Bro-die won't peddle prospects for a crummy 5th starter and some backup infielders for the big run to the 8 seed for the playoffs :/ |
Odds on deGrom winning his third straight Cy Young, this time with a 2-0 record?
71%. |
Maybe we can get a new GM after Brodie Dynamite pissed off both Jeffy and Rob Numbfred in one go! :woohoo::woohoo:

Let's see, when is the last time that some prominent person who ought to know better is seated before mic and camera and uttereth obscenities under the assumption that they shalt not be broadcast? A few days ago? "Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen was captured on video delivering a searing critique of Commissioner Rob Manfred that he later retracted in a written apology.“At the leadership level, he doesn’t get it,” Van Wagenen said of Manfred, in a video feed the Mets use for Zoom news conferences that appeared to have been accidentally broadcast online." Set aside the fact that he didn't know what he was talking about in the first place. I'm an old guy and maybe that's why I am very careful with social media and technology in general. Younger folks have been brought up with smartphones in hand and many don't realize what destructive weapons they and other technology can be. He won't be fired for this - his apologies were profuse and immediate - but in business, it constitutes another brick in the wall. That is, when enough negative karma has accumulated, this incident will be in the back of minds. Again, because people don't know when to shut up around technology. |

Postscript - I found this both humorous and ominous:

Brodie comes across the best in this

I wish they'd hurry up so he'd have time to lock up some contract extensions if he wants :) I know people are exultant at Fred and Jeff being marooned in Great Neck, but I'm not going to celebrate until it's clear Cohen wants to put together a real organization and not just use it as a tax dodge/real estate marketing arm or, worse, join the legion of carteleers that is more interested in tanking and pocketing TV money than building teams. |
