Cap 04-25-2007 08:13 AM

From what I've read in this forum, relating the present commentary to the present graphics is nigh on to impossible. It would require a major re-programming.

Random knockdown video should be possible from what Andreas and others have said. Don't know if they'd want to do it. How about pre-fight intros instead?

On the diplomatic front, Gee! Can't understand what those "Limeys" and "Frogs" and "Krauts" are always complaining about, eh? Maybe we should just stick to complaining about individual performances and not tar an entire nation because of one guy's mental lapse. I've seen some very questionable things happen in American rings, but I wouldn't blame the whole country.

As for the fight screen, I'd like to see the fighter's nickname included, alongwith the fact it's a title fight, if such is the case, plus a pic of the belt being fought for. Unless the animation can really match the commentary, maybe they should just remove it and just show the knockdowns or knockouts and fight stopped because of a cut or other injury. Of course, you'd still have the problem of skin-colour for those who care. Being partly colour-blind myself, I use B/W graphics so it doesn't really matter.

There should also be some sort of hidden rating for how effective a fighter is at going up and down in weight classes.
Fighter outside of your management should do this on their own and their ratings should be adjusted based on that hidden rating, age and if they are going up and down and by how much and how often they do so.

The thing I want is what I've wanted from day one.....a multiplayer hotseat mode where players manage a stable of fighters. Propose fights for their fighters, earn money, recruit new fighters, young and old and try and get your fighters that elusive title shot.

mh2365 04-25-2007 10:13 PM

I think you will get that in the RPG mode of the new game, maybe not with hotseat though. I think hotseat maybe too much to ask for for the first version on the RPG.

mh2365 04-25-2007 10:24 PM

whatever they decide to do with the RPG version of the game I just pray and beg that they don't make a game where you buy new equipment to improve your skills. That would make the game 100% stupid.

If you own a gym, buying new equipment for your fighters to train with should have some effect but only if the fighters are hard trainers. It absolutely should not be automatic and some things like chin, power and speed shouldn't be very changeable.

I agree totally, it would turn TB into a video game...without the video. In reality some of the greatest Fighters in history have trained in Rat dens, so I don't think equipment should have any impact on skills. If anything maybe make buying new equipment allow you to have more fighters training at once, or attract better Fighters that want state of the art training aides.

I think we are getting away from what the game is: What would happen if Rocky Marciano boxed Mike Tyson in Trump Plaza with a certain ref and certain judges. All of this "new boxing equipment" stuff is fluff and should be left to xbox.

I absolutely agree. We will not do that.
You will have to pay for the training, and the more you pay, the more effect will the training have. But training will only improve ratings, and only certain ratings.
We will not make an arcade game. We want to make a simulation. Just like OOTP.

Will some of this be optional? If so, how much? I'm perfectly happy with some aspects of TBCB as they stand now. I'm not really looking for career mode, but understand those who are. I'd like a few select changes made here and there and a couple improvements/additions. I hate repeating myself as I've detailed my thoughts on this subject numerous times over the past year or so, and don't even like reading them myself.

I agree with the above message. I will purchase TBIII when it is issued but only desire minor adjustments.

No worries, Cap. TB3 will basically include TB2. The plan is to allow the user to select a "mode" when he creates a "boxing universe". It's either "open mode" which is basically like playing TB2, or the "career playing mode" where the player is a manager. You can create as many boxing universes as you want to. That's similar to the databases in TB2. Or the leagues in OOTP. Every time when you start TB, you will have to load (or create) one of your boxing universes to continue to play with it.

mh2365 04-26-2007 11:23 AM

I'm really glad about the equipment things. I understand there has to be a way for fighters to improve and decline in the RPG portion, just wanted it to be tied to training.

It'd be great to have some fighters take to the training and some not. Then have some fighters take to the training and then completely abandon it once they get hit in the ring.

IceTea 04-26-2007 12:00 PM

I know when I created fighters using TBI, and imported them into TBII alot of the bio information (hometown, country, weight,....) didn't transfer. I had to update each created fighter with said information.

I'm excited about TBIII.

Good man.

Let me know if you need a beta tester. I've played a few games that were similar and have spent almost 30 years organizing my own RPG rules using the board game with a buddy of mine. We're Title Bout fanatics from the 70's.

In fact, we're both going to buy OOTP 2007 and try a two player on-line league for laughs....but Title Bout is what I'm really waiting for.

wiggins 04-26-2007 08:34 PM

Hey MH2365,

That is my opinion. Who made you God?. I don't think it was negitive. I think it is realistic. I love the game. Are you the "Board Guardian"? I've been spending money with the company and "Title Bout" for years. Even if I have somthing negitive to say, I have the right to say it. Take a big breath "Hall of Famer", and if possible get a life, and I'll continue to comment on what and when I please.

Please be more respectful of one another folks.

javier_83 04-26-2007 10:46 PM

please continue the discussion of this post, instead of talking bad about other people

Scoman 04-26-2007 11:11 PM

No need to get in to it with anybody,I think we all have the same goal in mind. And that would be taking TBCB to the next level. Lets leave the bickering and fighting to OT/TS.

Lee 04-26-2007 11:54 PM

Like Scoman said we all want the same thing here....Wiggans, Mike wasn't picking you, he, like all of us is just really passionate about Title Bout. I love OOTP too, but TB is my favorite sports sim ever, and I put it only behind the WSM series as the best computer sports sim on the market.

When you feel the way we do about our "baby" you don't want anyone calling it ugly. ;)
