Choked the final series to miss the playoffs, and so now I'm following through on my threat to blow it up. The writing was on the wall all week. This team is not good enough to get to perfect, and never will be. Better to cash out now and prevent further heartbreaks.
All in on tournaments now, and once that runs its course that's me done for the cycle. I have to be winning to remain interested. Nobody worth anything will continue to throw time and effort into a hopeless situation. Also, 0-32 lifetime in the weekly showdown! By this I mean I've lost in the first round 32 straight times. This kind of ineptitude is a generational talent. |

I've done that thing you do when you've decided to call it a day, and built a theme team. The theme is... cards that are easier to acquire than the iron combinators that I want :p
I'm F2P, so wouldn't normally throw my hard earned points around this early, but what the heck. |

Not spending any money but still enjoying the game.

YakAnglers are going to Diamond but got bounced 4-2 in the LCS. Jackson Jobe and Andrew Painter were lights out and we had little chance to win.
Battle Corgis also lose in the LCS 4 games to 2 as their Utley's outlasted ours. The Gabby Street Gunners will stay another season in rookie, despite winning 127 games, they get swept in 3 games by a 91-win wildcard team. Fun times. |
Sharks win their Diamond division again but get bounced in the division series by a team they beat seven of seven times during the regular season, including a four-game sweep at their park in mid-September. Need some serious improvement in pack luck, as I've pulled only three Perfects--all lives--from over 700 packs.

update 2029
|
Roller coaster weekend in G304. Went into Saturday at 79-54, aiming hard at a 1 seed. Came limping out of an 11-18 day just nabbing the 3 seed by 2 games, with no expectations of advancement...but it was a helluva competitive league. Ended up losing the WS in 6, which counts as an amazing result to me. Diamond next week? Really? Quick, get that set up before someone figures out they messed up letting the F2P noob into the club...

It's funny how one pull can convince you to run it back. Thanks to a drop from the official channel, I pulled a 100 NeL Jackie Robinson. With his current sell price around 40k below L10, the decision has been made to run it back one more time and return home to Colorado Field. Maddux & Giambi were pulled off the market, and I dropped all my silver combinator/LE buy orders. This allowed me to rebuy previously jettisoned Chase Utley and King Kelly, and I have 114k to use if something comes up.

APRIL update

I only decided at the last minute to buy the game, so I missed out on the first weekend. I was just totally burned out even after giving myself a 6-week break. So, new for 25, 1) one team only 2) no tournaments and 3) no live card speculation. PT23 ended today and I earned 16 weeks in Perfect League-- a feat that I will never achieve again, but maybe I can have some fun anyway.
Attachment 1007977 For the 2028 season, I was on vacation and consistent with more casual play, I did not take my laptop with me. I didn't even use my phone to get the twitch drops. Unfortunately, before I left, I bollixed the team setup and played the whole week without a backup catcher. |
Reverse sweeps reared its ugly head again this week. I had two teams, up 3-0, one game away from their respective world series, and got reversed swept by inferior teams no less...ugh...oh well... hopefully this week yields better results.

Is morale a (hidden) thing in this game that I should be managing somehow? |

Since I've been here since V3, I think I can say without a doubt there is no such thing as "assigned" good or bad seasons. What you ARE seeing is the simply variation of a "dice roll". Sometimes you roll doubles three times in a row - other times you don't. Sometimes you get 2 Perfect cards opening 5 packs, sometimes you don't get any in 100 packs. Having the best roster gives you the odds, but not a guarantee. There is simply no reason to build in a good or bad season into the coding when the law of averages will do it for you. |
Friday update...
I'll post a more complete review on Sunday as usual, but just a note that my two of three team's first visit to Gold will result in both teams coming back to Silver. I thought one of the two teams could stay for a while, but I got outpaced by teams who were still improving as the week went on. I didn't pull or find ONE card to improve my roster all week, and it shows.

Somehow the YakAnglers snuck into the Diamond .358 playoffs and should see an immediate exit. They spent most of the season 1-2 games back until a 3-game series late in the season where they got crushed by a combined score of 34-4 by the division winner.
The Battle Corgis won their division and have a decent chance of moving up if the RNG approves. The Gunners really need to get out of Rookie. Every SP won 22+ games, a couple of players flirted with .400 all season, two players hit 50+ HRs, and the leaderboards are nothing but my players. |
A second week of Saturday collapses sees me miss the playoffs again. A failed runback means a full sell-off.
See y'all in iron in a few weeks. I'm done with league and turning my attention to silver and live tournaments. |
Week 7

A terrible week for HRB teams. After some early success and two teams reaching Gold, reality caught up to us and all three teams played sub .500 ball. the main culprit was I couldn't significantly improve even one roster position on any of the teams - so - back to Silver and crossed fingers.
|
Well, it wasn't quite as big a surprising success as last week, but still...
My hope was to avoid getting relegated back to Gold. I actually managed to make the playoffs (after a play-in game because of a tied record). I got knocked out in the Division round, so no super-surprise promo to Perfect (ha!), but I can't complain about exceeding expectations. It was a tough league...the best team had a 92-70 record, the worst 65-97, which is way less space than I'm used to seeing. I don't think I was ever outside +10/-6 to .500, and it was a constant roller coaster. So...live to play for double PP another week. Not too bad for a rookie season... |
As expected, the YakAnglers made a brief appearance in the Diamond playoffs and were quickly sent home.
The Battle Corgis won their Silver World Series! Had a scare after taking a 2 game to 0 lead got to 2-2 in the World Series, but we pull it out 4-2. Biggest moment of the playoffs was a bottom of the 9th solo HR by Al Kaline in game 7 to send the Corgis to the World Series. The Gunners also win their Iron World Series also by 4 games to 2. Was a little tougher than expected as several teams finished the Live Missions to make it a real battle. |
Have to say it was a fun week in Gold. Our team had the best overall record and easily won the division.
Some late completed Missions fortified an already solid roster. Being up 2-0 in the first round it was looking promising. I think you know how it ended. But guess what? I love my team. |
