You guys need to dust off your Twitter accounts!
New Mets owner Steve Cohen's Twitter account a hit with fans |
New Mets ownership cleaned house pretty quickly

Makes sense, given the track records and the need for a fresh start. I wonder if this will include Rojas. The article that I read says there will be a press conference Tuesday which may address his fate, one way or the other.
|
I'd like to keep Rojas, to be honest. The disaster Mets of '20 were not of his making and beyond what he could deliver in repair, and he's a company man that way, waaay predates Brodie Dynamite's corps of hunchbacked underlings.
And who are they gonna pull out of storage and defrost? (imagine two players, probably Squirrel and Scooter standing next to the frozen manager, blowing on him with tiny hair dryers) LaRussa's already signed with the Sox. |
Today's presser with Steve and Sandy was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Only saw whatever bits are on MLB.tv - but he seems to mean it.
Now sign Springer! |
Say, is there anybody here who wants the Mets to sign George Springer?
|
Stroman!
What a rollercoaster offseason already. Marcus Stroman has accepted the qualifying offer per MLB.com. There's 2 top of the rotation starters nailed down.
I don't know about anyone else but this comes as a real shock to me, I thought for sure he was going to test free agency. Reflecting on it we may see more players do this to avoid the depressed FA market this year and try again next year hoping things have improved by then. |

And Springer. :p |
I just found out that my favorite Met of all time is a free agent! He should have never been let go... please bring back Daniel Murphy. He should be a cheap acquisition at least he's 35 and had an OPS+ of 54 this year. It would make me so happy to see him play in Queens one more time, even if its for a short period and he doesn't set the world on fire. Can you ever really have too many second basemen in their thirties?
|
I love Murph to bits (still, although it's been hard at times when he was with the Gnats and batted .769 against the Mets every year...), but the Mets have enough DH types.

The Flushing team we used to know, let’s call them the pre-Cohen Mets, would have been done with their offseason spending on Nov. 11 once Marcus Stroman accepted that $18.9 million qualifying offer to return. But now? Consider Stroman merely a down payment on the 2021 rotation, with the Mets in the hunt to put this year’s Cy Young winner, Trevor Bauer, behind the back-to-back title-holder (and third-place finisher this season), who is their resident No. 1, Jacob deGrom. |
Bauer
Realmuto Springer Hendriks Rosenthal |
Bauer at least fawned about Uncle Steve on Youtube, I read. I didn't watch it (yet). But I like the sound of it. :flowers::flowers:
