I think it came out wrong last season, but I also have the issue of using an association setup instead of a single league. There has not been a whole lot of improvements to the association feature, and that is why I am going to eventually fuse all into a single league. I need Tinker Tom to get all of that technology working correctly so that we can start having motor vehicle transports across the Commonwealth. I mean, if the Institute would just allow people to teleport, then we wouldn't have these association problems. But they are insistent that multiple people teleporting all over the place would be dangerous. I guess they haven't seen the number of car deaths in pre-War America. Every fender bender was a potential deadly explosion!

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 10 July 2297 - Gadzinski Touched by Ug-Qualtoth Breakheart Banks Wasteland Whisperers (Salem) 3B Mike Gadzinski has had a bad year. Last year he was kidnapped and enslaved while traveling to his hometown in Boxford from Salem. Though he later recovered, those close to the organization have indicated he has not been the same. In fact, he has been distant. In a recent day off from practice, Gadzinski was not seen and told no one where he was going. Of course, that put the team in a panic. He missed the next day's practice, but returned to practice on Thursday. However, he was murmuring. A trader reported that he saw Gadzinski near Dunwich Borers, leaving the team to fear he may have entered the facility. The area is forbidden from entering by all due to reports of a cult of an ancient god, Ug-Qualtoth. Commissioner Nate Howard had deemed in the past what anyone "touched" by Ug-Qualtoth needed to be placed in an extended quarantine until the touch wears off. Though few have access, there is a special section of Parsons State Insane Asylum for the touched. Piper Wright has referred to the Ug-Qualtoth cult in some her past stories, but she was never allowed to visit either Dunwich Borers or the special facility in Parsons. An army of 20 Brotherhood of Steel soldiers arrived via several vertibirds to transport Gadzinski. He will be out for the rest of the season and will probably not be out of quarantine for some time. Gadzinski had started in all 35 games for the Whisperers. Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 11 July 2297 - Robotics Experts Manager Defends Deathclaw No, this is not the tale of a manager stopping someone from shooting a "harmless" creature of the wastes. This is about the General Atomics Galleria Robotics Experts (Finch Farm) closer Chris Deathclaw and his performance yesterday. In the Experts' 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Breakheart Banks Wasteland Whisperers (Salem) in Dark Hollow Pond League action, Deathclaw blew his fourth save of the season, the second straight time where a blown save led directly to a loss. Deathclaw allowed two earned runs on a double, two walks, and a Tyler Pooch squeeze bunt that drove in the winning run in the losing effort. It dropped his record to 2-2, all wins and losses as a result of blown saves. He has nine saves in 13 opportunities on the season. During the ninth, General Atomics Galleria fans, including a bundle of robots, were heard booing and hissing at Deathclaw. Experts manager Alfredo Barios came out of the dugout to let the fans know what he thought of their noise. After the game, Barios was all in on his player. "This is baseball, not the wilderness. You can't be perfect here. People have bad days, bad games, sometimes bad years. Deathclaw is going places." Pitching coach Sticks Vasquez was also praiseworthy. "Yeah, he lost us the game today, but he looks better and better to me every day. I get to watch him pitch, and I think Deathclaw is going to find himself on the CBO squad. He has that much raw potential." Some in the organization think Deathclaw is the Four Leafs' top prospect. He has low current ratings, though BNN and the OSA see him as possessing a lot of future talent. "Bull [Johnson] may be more ready right now to move up," Vasquez said, "but Chris is probably the one more likely to be a star. He definitely doesn't deserve the harassment he got from the fans." When asked about his feelings, Deathclaw gave sports cliche soundbites: "I just have to take it one pitch at a time. I can't let the crowd get to me. At the end of the day, I just need to throw strikes. I did not have relations with that woman." |
2297 Week 14 - The Week in Review

Analysis
Nothing much has changed in positioning from last week to this one. Starlight is now in a first-place tie after losing its series at Lexington in the International League. Otherwise, the divisions basically look the same. Something of note is that every division currently has a tight race for second place with 18 left to play. We discussed the IL and Minutemen League's race in more detail last week, so let us look at how the Brotherhood and Railroad races are shaping up. With The Slog continuing to be the dominant team of the BL, Easy Town and County Crossing are currently leading in the race for the crap pile. At 22-20, neither team has looked like it can dominate the other, so what remains on the schedule and avoiding the Ghouls as much as possible may be the key to success. Of course, just a game back of both lies in wait the defending league champions, the Finch Farm Four Leafs, at 21-21. The Bloodbugs and Assaultrons are dead even on the power rankings list. For County Crossing, they rely on their potent offense to get things done. The Bloodbugs are 2nd in the BL in runs scored (237) but 5th in runs allowed (262). Other than Bad Company Grognak (8-3, 4.36), the starters are not consistently getting it done. The bats have been on fire, though the Bloodbugs do not hit for power. Seven of the eight in the lineup are hitting above .300, with Mush Levy (.297) just missing out. Left fielder Tom Mastodon has had a mammoth season, hitting .384/.401/.561 in 42 games. He led the BL in hits and triples last season, and he currently leads in both in 2297 (76 H, 7 3B). Easy Town is just the opposite in 2297 for its production. The Assaultrons are tied for 4th in runs scored (231) but are 2nd in runs allowed (229). The amazing part of their pitching success is that the ace, Angel Waterdrink, has not been good, holding a 1-7 record with a 4.88 ERA. Third starter Smoker Caliman has been the better option, holding an 8-3 record with a 4.39 ERA. Closer Aaron Geneva has 10 saves and a 1.96 ERA. His 10 saves trails only Nordhagen Beach's Sia Abber (12). In the Railroad League, Fairline Hill Estates and Vault 81 are tied at 22-20 with a nice cushion on 4th place Shaw and Egret (both 18-24). The Yao Guai appear to be the better team of the second-place squads, so let us start there. FHE took over the RL lead for runs scored (268), one head of the Oberland T-51s. They are 2nd in runs allowed (238), meaning that the radbears are a good all-around team. Ace Bow Rome (7-6, 4.17) ERA has looked better of late and the bullpen has a lights-out 3.72 ERA to lead the RL. On offense, Hose Wallcrawler is still looking to be the CBO Player of the Year. He is batting .407 with 16 home runs and 54 RBI. He is not currently leading any of the Triple Crown categories, but he is close to the top in all three. For the Dwellers, they seem more lucky than good to be here. Egret is 5th in runs scored (235) and 3rd in runs allowed (245). Ace Curt Redcoats is 5-8 with a 4.63 ERA. Right fielder Deer Quickwalker leads the RL with a .434 batting average with 10 home runs and 32 RBI. He would be considered a league MVP leader if it were not for Wallcrawler. 1B Erns Gold leads the RL in home runs (17) and has 48 RBI to lead the team. The rest of the offense struggles regularly, with only leadoff hitter Bubb Islander hitting over .300 besides Quickwalker and Gold. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 12 July 2297 - Players of the Week Star of the Week Selected in BL: 19-year-old Danny Honeycutt sent shock waves through Brotherhood League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Honeycutt made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .636 average, 7 hits in 11 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 runs batted in. Where the Finch Farm Four Leafs left fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Honeycutt certainly made his mark last week. This season Honeycutt has 8 home runs and a .339 batting average. Engill Punishes IL Pitchers This Week: Austin Engill has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 19-year-old shortstop of the Abernathy Adamantium had a hot bat in the Institute League over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Engill batted .500 with 5 hits in 10 at-bats, 1 home run and 4 RBIs. This year Engill is hitting .255 with 6 home runs and 34 RBIs in 42 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .370 with 26 walks and 24 runs scored. Luttrell Picked Best Player: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Minutemen League, but last week Jukebox Luttrell of the University Point Deathclaws reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Luttrell rocked opposing pitching for a .615 average (8-for-13), 1 home run and 5 RBIs to come away with the award. Luttrell on the season is hitting .397 with 8 home runs. His stats include 29 RBIs and 33 runs scored. Big Bat Pays Off, Quickwalker Player of the Week: So far in his young career, Deer Quickwalker has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Railroad League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 18-year-old Vault 81 Dwellers right fielder hit at a torrid .583 clip as he collected 7 hits in 12 at-bats, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Quickwalker is batting .424 with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs. |
Honestly that's not even that bad a streak for Deathclaw, the fans are being really harsh.

July 2297 - News and Notes - July 12-13
I forgot to check news stories before advancing a day! I also messed up another random event so it is here. The trade deadline is active. Let me grab a few from these two days.

"This one took a while to figure out," said Nordhagen Beach general manager Brendan Kneecapped. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs." Wheat on the season is batting .200 with 1 home run. His totals include 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 14 July 2297 - Trade Deadline Approaches As the 2297 trade deadline approaches, a few teams have been involved in either trying to improve their teams for now or later. Only a day remains until it's too late to deal player for player straight up. Clubs across the CBO are evaluating their situation, seeing what they can get without having to give up the farm. Some will try to win a championship today. Some will do their utmost to lose one and others will (wisely?) stand pat. Normal trades are allowed again once the playoffs are over and the offseason begins. 14 July 2297 - Vault 81 Dwellers Ship Prynne to Salem The Dwellers and Witch Hats confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, Vault 81 will get 31-year-old RHP Front Porch Potter, while Salem will receive 20-year-old minor league CF Heston Prynne. In 14 games with Salem, Potter has a 4-6 record with a 4.30 ERA. He is now joining his fourth different team after being drafted in the 1st round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft by the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Prynne was the second-round pick of Vault 81 in the 2296 Rookie Draft. At Mass Pike Interchange, he was batting .382 with four home runs and 18 RBI. 14 July 2297 - Lexington-Diamond City Trade: Uglyhair for Byrd A trade between Lexington and Diamond City was made official this morning. The Synths have sent 18-year-old minor league 3B Danny Jacomet and 19-year-old minor league RF Jim Uglyhair to the Swatters in exchange for 19-year-old CF Nasty Byrd and 26-year-old minor league RHP Alan Nathy. In 42 games with Diamond City, Byrd was batting .250 with three homers and 15 RBI. |

And then the second trade happened. Faith may be better than Murtagh, I don't know, but Vaultick is now the second-rated relief pitcher behind Sia Abber and third overall behind Shed and Abber. I don't want to jinx the Boys, but I think they improved their prospect pool AND improved their bullpen in their two trades. ----- I just watched Game One against the defending champions. Let's see how the Boys are going to look in this one. |

The Yao Guai have now won 8 straight. It could have been a different outcome for Fairline Hill Estates, had it not been for Noah Arch, the 23-year old center fielder . Jason Juras provided a timely hit. The Egret third baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Scrappers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count. |
"I don't want to jinx the Boys, but I think they improved their prospect pool AND improved their bullpen in their two trades."
It's too late now, the damage is done!! Actually, I have to agree: they've made worse moves!! |

Ramos contributed a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put Sunshine Tidings up, 6-0. 16 July 2297 - ML: Victory Over Hancocks Takes Warwick to 28-16 The Warwick Mirelurks stopped the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 5-4, at The Homestead. The 4th-place Deathclaws are now 20-24, the Cats 16-28. There was more than one reason the Deathclaws beat the Cats, but Radwater's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. 16 July 2297 - Tarberry Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Win or lose, Ed Tarberry just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. His club was defeated 6-4 by the University Point Deathclaws at Gwinnett Brewery Park. Jeremy Bugs, the Oberland third baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-0, T-51s. For the game, Bugs went 2-4 with a double. Egret 5 at Vault 81 3 Egret Scrappers starter Nick Poppa was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Vault 81 Dwellers, 5-3. At 20-24, the Scrappers are currently 4th in the Railroad League. For the game, Tamez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats. 16 July 2297 - Castillo Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Prof Castillo, left fielder for the Oberland T-51s, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 3-2 victory today over the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai at Graygarden Park today. 2297 Week 15 - The Week in Review

Analysis
The 2297 season is now three-quarters done and one division winner is on the brink of clinching a playoff berth. One other division leader is not far away. The other two divisions are wide open for not only the division title but who might make the playoffs. Let's look at the one division where any team can finish the season anywhere in the division order, the Institute League. With just 15 games left to play, there is a three-way tie for fourth place, which is last place. However, those three teams--the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, Sunshine Tidings Chemists, and Abernathy Adamantium--are only four games behind division leader Starlight, which has been struggling as of late. However, the Lady Killers found a way to win the series aagainst Concord, thus putting them back in first place despite their terrible start to the second half of the season. Looking at the three at the bottom, let's look how they might find themselves in the 2297 playoffs. First, win every series from here on out. Or, if they drop one, sweep another. First remaining weekend scheules: Fort Hagen: vs Abernathy, vs Lexington, at Abernathy, at Sunshine Tidings, at Concord Sunshine Tidings: at Concord, at Starlight, at Concord, vs Fort Hagen, at Lexington Abernathy: at Fort Hagen, vs Concord, vs Fort Hagen, vs Lexington, at Starlight Advantage: Fort Hagen. The Shroud avoids the Lady Killers and play three series against the bottom three. Winning those series and finding a way to win at least one of their series versus the Synths and Radstags. Disadvantage: Sunshine Tidings. The Chemists have a bad late-season draw of finishing the season with four of their five series away from home. Not only that, but the Chemists play all of those road series against the top three teams. They have been the hottest team in the IL, though, and if they stay hot, they could irradiate the league waters more. Wildcard: Abernathy. The Adamantium were there before, so they already have shown they know how to win. After winning the IL in 2296, the Adamantium had a horrible start to the 2297 season. Yet, here they are. Next weekend's trip to Fort Hagen will show better which of those teams stay in the race and which will be futher behind in the league race. That series will be the featured matchup in the IL for the BNN. The Brotherhood League is more of a battle for second place with Salem currently six games out of the playoff race and The Slog at least five games up on every other team in the league. Finch Farm, County Crossing, and Easy Town are all currently tied for second, and Nordhagen Beach is just two games back after a surprising sweep of the Ghouls. Here are the schedules of the current Fab Four. Finch Farm: at Nordhagen Beach, at Salem, vs Nordhagen Beach, at Easy Town, vs County Crossing County Crossing: at The Slog, at Nordhagen Beach, at The Slog, vs Salem, at Finch Farm Easy Town: at Salem, vs The Slog, vs Salem, vs Finch Farm, at Nordhagen Beach Nordhagen Beach: vs Finch Farm, vs County Crossing, at Finch Farm, at The Slog, vs Easy Town Advantage: Finch Farm. The Four Leafs play the next three series against 5th place Nordhagen Beach and 6th place Salem. Winning those three series should put them immediately ahead of the rest of the teams who would have to each beat the Leafs. The one hang up is that Finch Farm is the second-worst road team in the BL with a 6-15 record away from Finch Family Park. Disadvantage: County Crossing. The Bloodbugs play 4 of their next 5 series on the road, including two trips to The Slog and one trip to Nordhagen Beach where they have not had much success. The road weariness to end the season may kick in and they will have to pay for not winning enough games at home before starting this run will likely put them out of it. Wildcard: Nordhagen Beach. The Party Boys still have to make up two games versus the other three teams, but 4 of their series are against these three teams. Win all of those series, and they will be picking off their competition towards second place. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 19 July 2297 - Players of the Week BL's Star Player Named: Ginger Rogers demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award. The Finch Farm center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .400 average (4-for-10) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. Rogers is currently batting .293 with 17 home runs, 35 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 53 hits in 181 at-bats. Star of the Week Picked in IL: 19-year-old Jim Waples sent shock waves through Institute League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Institute League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Waples made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .538 average, 7 hits in 13 at-bats, no home runs and 5 RBI. Where the Abernathy Adamantium second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Waples certainly made his mark last week. Waples is hitting .418 this year with 1 home run, 27 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 76 hits in 182 at-bats, 6 walks and a .432 on-base percentage. Waples has played in 45 games. Duck: Big Hit in the Minutemen League: One of the league's most exciting young players, Good Don Duck of the Goodneighbor Hancocks earned himself Minutemen League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 19-year-old left fielder had a lofty .500 average (7-for-14), collecting 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. So far this year Duck has 5 home runs and a .420 batting average. Gold Earns RL Player of the Week: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Railroad League, but last week Erns Gold of the Vault 81 Dwellers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Gold rocked opposing pitching for a .538 average (7-for-13), 1 home run and 2 RBIs to come away with the award. In the 2297 season Gold is hitting .328 with 18 home runs. |

Today in the CBO The View from the BMU by Nat Wright-Kowalski 20 July 2297 - Taffington Boathouse On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 and 2298 seasons, we will feature one of the settlements where teams in the Boston Minor Union play. In our first trip around the BMU, we will go to one of the smallest but most peaceful settlements in the BMU, Taffington Boathouse. Then When Nate Howard first came to Taffington Boathouse, it was "A two-story pre-War colonial house, formerly inhabited by the Sutton family and currently infested with bloodbugs." Nate blasted away those bugs and then discovered the dead body of Mary Sutton. She had a note that led to a nearby location where he learned of the entire sad demise of the Suttons. Those **** bloodbugs can be vicious and dangerous if you're not pumping them full of radstagshot or laser beams. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598578490 After Nate claimed the house as his territory. He considered it a nice central location for traipsing across the northern Commonwealth. It is also rumored that he spent some quiet weekends there with some of his companions, like Irish Cait, Marie Curie, Heather Casden, and another female companions I refuse to name. Now https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598578490 Nate still uses the house as an occasional weekend vacation spot. The area around has become a small settlement with some trading through fisheries and trapping. The settlement is close to Covenant, which has been used as a rehabilitation compound in the past after it was freed from a synthicide cult. |
