Silver league update:

Ring Road red hot to start the OL season with an unblemished record of 3-0 at the top of the standings. At the opposite end, Waffletown appears to have missed the memo that the season started  (though they are 16-5 against the rest of the league so far)

Magus978 07-08-2020 02:00 AM

B203 standings after Tuesday's action. Sierra Vista, Transylvania, and Otonokizaka are in the same division, so they will play. A lot.

Unfortunately, Hooterville got put in the opposing conference, and have no OL games this week. :(

Sierra Vista Scorpions 8-5 .614
Transylvania 6-7 .461
Otonokizaka 5-7 .416
Hooterville 0-0 .000 (no games, will be omitted from the rest of the week's standings)

The Tigers hold a comfortable lead, but it's early yet. Except for the Rebels, who are done and can only think of what might have been had the PT overlords been a little more attentive to the needs of their patrons.

In PT play, OL teams slipped a little, but still have contenders.

Are you talking about the Raccoons? If so the live card has been replaced with Mickey Lolich.

Silver league update:

It's a tale of two halves, as Left Coast, Norwood, Ring Road and Ewa Beach sit jumbled atop the OL standings, while K-Town, Waffletown and Port Ruppert appear to be operating under the mistaken belief there is some sort of prize for the worst record :p

Overall, two OL teams sit in playoff spots early on, with Norwood comfortably atop the AC East division by 9 games, and Waffletown holding down the top wild card position.

Have we done away with that!!? :D

Magus978 07-08-2020 11:59 AM

Out all day today. Will have an update on bronze OL tonight. Hooterville will be omitted from the standings as they don't play any games, and thus it's a few less things I need to type :p

As we have three teams in contention (all in the same division!) in a four team OL setup this week, a crown will be had.

Also, my non-OL Stilwater looking pretty good in silver :D (They are a F2P and maybe some OL potential once Freddie Freeman has run his course)

Iron 156 Update

All 5 teams above .500, with the 3 NC Teams ranking 1-2-3 in the standings. Looks like a mass promotion from Iron to Bronze if trend continues.

Cochise County technically has the early lead (some of today's games counted in) but unfortunately they only have 3 more OL games left for the season, leaving them with 7 total, so they will not qualify for the title.

In PT play Weston Pointe leads their division with Brigadoon in a tie for the division lead with a few teams in the mix for the wildcard.

The answer to the simple arithmetic problem in the headline may have turned around a disappointing Jefferson Valley season. In looking ahead to see how the crown race shaped up, I made the embarrassing discovery that I had missed two Rebel games against Annandale, which brings them up to 10 OL games and the top spot. Sorry for the mistake.

In PT play, only Hamtramck holds a playoff spot, thought Annadale and Asylum are contending. The Rebels have slumped of late and fallen off the pace, while Bluffton is in relegation and the Rustlers just above.

Since the Rebels seemed to be spinning their wheels I started taking some time reshaping the roster. It caused me to part with my Shoeless Joe. Joe is one of my favorites (and needs to be in the HOF) but even now when I only played him vs. RHP he still didn't hit. I expect four or five more changes prior to next season. Depth and pitching in that order. Also currently sitting on 12 packs I plan on opening tomorrow morning.

Never much to brag about for Coney Island but they just won the Friday super Diamond for the second time in four weeks. I logged in just before a deciding game five and saw my bullpen was spent so I moved Old Hoss Radbourn from the rotation into the pen turned out to be a good move he pitched the final 1.2 to get the save.

Now if the Warriors can only pull off an 18-5 run in diamond...

Tigers on Inside track for OL G316 Crown

3 Attachment(s)
Having led most of the season Hamtramck only to slip due to yesterday's schedule addition mistake by the statistician, the Tigers regained the roost when Jefferson Valley lost their two remaining OL games. It what will be the busiest month on the OL schedule, Asylum plays 15, Bluffton and Hamtramck 13 each, Terra Incognita 6 and Annadale 3.

Should the Tigers go 9-4, they win outright. After that:

Tigers, 8-5, lose to Rustlers if they go 6-0.
Tigers, 7-6, lose to Annadale if 3-0; loses to Asylum if 15-0 because that means the Keepers came back to win the season series.
Tigers, 6-7(or worse), Jefferson Valley wins.

A single loss by Terra Incognita, Annandale, or Asylum will leave Jefferson Valley the only other possible winner.

In PT play, the very busy OL schedule will go a long way to determining who can contend for a playoff spot. Asylum was on fire to take a division lead, but their poor OL play begs caution. Terra Incognita and Bluffton are both in relegation spots.

Diamond- Six teams in the mix heading into September

3 Attachment(s)
For the second time this week a team that was idle, in this case Brigadoon has taken the lead. Any of the teams that are currently over .500 have a shot at the crown. It will be a meaningful September with a race that's too close to call. Remaining OL games of those six teams:

Brigadoon: 4 @Shinbone

Kansas: (6) 3 vs.Palolo, 3 vs.Hidden Valley

Norwood: (6) 3 vs.Krikkit, 3 @Highland

Hidden Valley: (16) 1 @ Weston Pointe, 3 @Palolo, 3 @Highland, 3 @Kansas, 3 vs. Highland, 3 vs. Coney Island

Shinbone: 4 vs. Brigadoon

Highland: (15) 3 @Coney Island, 3 vs. Norwood, 3 @Weston Pointe, 3 vs. Hidden Valley, 3 @Hidden Valley

In PT play the news isn't nearly as interesting. Hidden Valley and Norwood are leading their respective divisions with Kansas 2.5 back in their division and 2 back in the WC race. Brigadoon is 1.5 back in their division and will likely need to win the division to make the playoffs.

Silver league update:

Ewa Beach holds a solid lead in the OL standings heading into the stretch run. Quick calculations show they just need to win 3 of the last 6 games to ensure no one can catch them.

-Ewa Beach: 3 vs Left Coast; 3 @ Port Ruppert

-K-Town: 4 @ Waffletown

-Left Coast: 3 @ Ewa Beach; 3 @ Port Ruppert; 3 vs Port Ruppert

-Norwood: none

-Waffletown: 4 vs K-Town; 3 vs Ring Road

-Ring Road: 3 @ Waffletown;

-Port Ruppert: 3 vs Ewa Beach; 3 vs Left Coast; 3 @ Left Coast

Overall, Norwood still holds a double-digit lead in the AC East. Ewa Beach has taken over the NC West division lead by a slim half game. For the AC Wild Card, it's a jumble of OL with Waffletown in slot 1, K-Town in slot 2, and Ring Road just 1.5 games back.

Magus978 07-11-2020 05:55 PM

Bronze 203 update with only a handful of games left. Remaining schedules below. Remember that Hooterville is omitted from the standings due to having no OL games.

Otonokizaka 23-12 (.657) (3 vs Sierra Vista)
Transylvania 14-18 (.437) (3 @ Sierra Vista, 3 vs Sierra Vista)
Sierra Vista 11-18 (.379) (3 @ Otonokizaka, 3 @ Transylvania, 3 vs Transylvania)

Otonokizaka has clinched the OL title.

In regular play, Otonokizaka lead the AC West. Transylvania are the AC's 2nd wildcard. Sierra Vista are on the brink of elimination and are in a relegation place.

As for Blitzkrieg, who would have been here this week had I not been an idiot, they are once again in a battle for their bronze lives. Apparently it's not a good long term strategy to have Jackie Robinson and a bunch of losers.

EDIT: I will need someone to get the final official results. Won't be at my PC tomorrow.

5-6 games left in regular season, but no OL vs OL teams, so 100% of precincts reporting. Unfortunately Cochise County only had 7 games vs. one opponent, so that leaves my Whalers as the de-facto Champs for 2035.

As of right now All 5 teams have either clinched playoff spots or are very much in the hunt. Does not look like any relegations with 3 probable promotions to Bronze.

Good luck to all.

Late Templeton Heroics Save Crown for Tigers in OL G316

3 Attachment(s)
Gary Templeton's two-out, 10th-inning, homer off Joe Nathan captured the crown for Hamtramck, which had squandered its entire lead in OL race and faced the possibility of an ignominious fade in game 162 against Bluffton in front of their home fans. But fate smiled and the Tigers won their first OL crown, cementing the disappointment of the Jefferson Valley faithful, who saw their happiness at the discovery of a clerical error getting them back into a contending slot in the chase, crushed by Templeton's blast. They would settle for runner-up. Terra Incognita also missed a chance at turning an otherwise lack luster campaign into glory. One more victory would have secured the crown for them. Annandale squandered their chance with a couple of losses early in the month.

Then in PT play, they continued their uneven play and the Atom Smashers missed a shot at the post season. Asylum won the NC east by a game over Hamtramck, also needing a final game triumph not to blow their lead. The Tigers had to settle for the wild card. They are the only two OL teams in the play offs, and could meet for the NC championship if they are successful. Such a meeting would put both in line for promotion. Bluffton will be returning to silver, while the other teams remain in gold.

PT Playoff Update

By league:

P400 - Cary coming back to diamond, with a chip on their shoulder, so beware OLers.

D357 - Hidden Valley only playoff team

G316 - Asylum and Hamtramck

S267 - Waffletown vs. K-town in AC wild card, Red Menace division winner in AC, Ewa Beach wild card in NC

B203 - Otonokizaka division winner, Transylvania as wild card

I156 - Everybody in! Cochise County AC division winner, Vlora AC wild card, Hartford and Asheboro NC division winners, Daytona Beach wildcard.

Don't know stone because that's where I had to truncate my friends list to fit.

Seems we could have an OL world series or two. Good luck to all. Back to packs. I know I could earn more in points tourneys, but I love the ripping sound and the search is always on for the franchise changer.:p

Silver league final standings:

In an epic stretch run, Left Coast burned through their OL opponents in September, going 8-1, while Ewa Beach struggled to weather the storm with a 2-4 OL final month. When the dust settled, Ewa Beach and Left Coast emerged with identical 23-15 records. (Head-to-head record tilts in the Fighting Chickens favor as they took the season series 11-8). While Port Ruppert had a rough OL season, they did get to play spoiler, as they defeated Left Coast in the final OL game between them to keep the LabRats from claiming sole possession of first place.

Overall, I believe we're guaranteed at least two OL promotions to Gold, as the AC wild card is Waffletown @ K-Town, with the winner playing Norwood. Whoever wins that game is promoted for reaching the LCS, while the loser will have the 4th most wins in the league so they should move up, too. In the NC, Ewa Beach slipped to the top wild card spot, so there is an outside chance of an all-OL finals.

The Wrap Up

1 Attachment(s)
Could probably use theme suggestions. Left to my own devices, I tend toward musical references. This one might be a bit of a reach, but yesterday was the anniversary (in 2014) of the death of Tommy Ramone (Thomas Erdelyi) the drummer and last surviving member of the original Ramones line-up. The background is the album cover from their self-produced debut album. It was their steadfast storming against the putrid rock of the '80s that saved Rock 'n Roll's roots.

Congrats to all the crown winners.

Will check in later after chores, but this kind of card is the reason I pull tourney packs rather than go for the points tourneys, which I'm sure add up to more over time. Deep into the third week of lousy pulls for Port Ruppert (some 60 or more packs), I get this and all is right. Don't even want to know what this hung-over World Series hero might go for. He's going to the top of the rotation. And I like the ripping sound.
