I definitely wanted some amount of games without the season dragging on. Sixty felt just about right for a 6-team emerging league. I may expand that amount later once all leagues combine, but I'll also have to change my set up at that time, too. |

I think I will make the merge when the Corvega line is officially ready . Or maybe when the ability to produce buses is ready (I think I have it as about 2300). And I have somewhere in my notes about getting the train tracks up and running at some point for a little more location expansion further into the future. I do have some plans for the Nuka League and CBO (or BMU) teams to play some exhibitions thanks to the Nuka tram line from Boston being in operation. I know my time is more limited for awhile until around Christmas, so I won't be able to make posts three different times during the day like I had been doing recently. I am trying to work in one posting today while waiting to hear from my boss on what he needs from me. I tend to have busy Mondays and Fridays with sometimes busy periods in the middle of the week, so I will probably miss most Monday and Friday posts. Due to a tropical storm and hurricane hitting here last week, my schedule is a little off right now, so I am not that busy THIS Monday, but the end of my week and start of next week will be catch up time for days missed. |

Today in the CBO The View from the BMU by Nat Wright-Kowalski 3 August 2297 – Cabot House On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 and 2298 seasons, we will feature one of the settlements where teams in the Boston Minor Union play. In our third trip around the BMU, we will go to Downtown Boston for a relic that we never knew to look like it was blasted in the fallout, Cabot House. "And this is good old Boston, the home of the bean and the cod. Where the Lowells talk only to Cabots, and the Cabots talk only to God." Then https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598891274 To write about Cabot House is to write about the spectacular history of the Cabots. Their history is their present because the Cabots have a historical line that outlives even Nate Howard. “This is my ancestral home. The Cabots have always lived here, since long before the Great War. If you're asking what we're still doing here, with Boston in its current sad state, well... that's a story for another time, perhaps.“ – Jack Cabot Lorenzo https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598891248 According to the official history, “Lorenzo was born on March 28, 1835.[2] He is married to Wilhelmina Cabot and they together had a son and daughter, Jack and Emogene, respectively. Cabot was a talented archaeologist that took interest in ancient civilizations that predate the earliest traces of his first ancestors. For years, Lorenzo studied the fabled lost city of Ubar, which according to legend, was founded over four millennia before the first human civilizations. “In the 1890s, the scholar bid farewell to his family as he left on a steamship on an expedition to the Rub' al Khali, the Empty Quarter of Arabia in the Middle East. All the research he did over the years finally paid off when Lorenzo eventually found a ruined city in the Arabian desert that coincided with the description of Ubar documented by all the papers he read on the subject. “As his team of excavators began to unearth the site, a strange series of events took place. Two weeks into the dig, a sandstorm that seemed to last an eternity began. This cost the team their native guide and forced them to start over when the storm subsided, having covered the ruins back up with sand. Despite the setbacks, the excavation project yielded many valuable leads and answers to the nature of the city and its long-deceased alien inhabitants. “Lorenzo and his men uncovered much evidence of their presence, including a mysterious crown that granted him inhuman abilities, such as an unnaturally long life and telekinetic powers. However, this came with the cost of losing his sanity. Believing that there is still more to the city, Lorenzo had the city buried to protect its existence until a time that he is ready to return and uncover its remaining secrets. "Following his return to Boston in 1898, Lorenzo, 63 years old, was institutionalized indefinitely at the Parsons State Insane Asylum on June 11 of that year by order of his family in order to protect himself and his children from harm.” Jack https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598891248 According to the official history, “Jack is the son of archaeologist Lorenzo Cabot. In 1894, his father led an expedition to the Rub' al Khali Empty Quarter of Arabia in search of the fabled Ubar civilization. After Lorenzo returned to Boston from the Middle East with an alien artifact, he was found to have been granted supernatural abilities, yet also been rendered insane by the effects of the crown. For the safety of both Lorenzo and those around him, Jack, as superintendent, imprisoned the archaeologist along with his artifact at Parsons State Insane Asylum in 1898. “Jack devoted his life to investigating the artifact. His studies into the mysterious object subsequently resulted in the development of a serum derived from his father's blood that defies aging, in other terms halting and even reversing the process. In turn, Jack's special serums granted him and his family the ability to live for more than four hundred years. “After two centuries since the Great War, he continues to live in Cabot House with his mother and sister, furthering his research into a cure for his father's insanity.” Emogene https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598891248 According to the official history, “The youngest and most flirtatious member of the Cabot family. Like her mother and brother, she uses a special serum to defy aging and has been since she was 32 years old. “Her terminal entries reveal her to be a skilled hacker, as she played around with RobCo's database server. “During the Great War, while Jack and Edward Deegan were away at Parsons State Insane Asylum, Emogene was responsible for thwarting a takeover of Cabot House by Anders, one of their employees, who tried to forced the family out of the house at gunpoint. “While appearing to be the most frivolous and irresponsible of the Cabots, In reality she is actually quite emphatic and self-aware. An argument can be heard where she chastises her mother for being picky about what food they eat when the rest of the the Commonwealth barely have enough to survive. This indicates that Emogene is well aware of how well-off her family are compared to the rest of the wasteland.” Now More of the same. Thanks to Nate Howard’s efforts, Lorenzo Cabot remains a captive of Parsons. Jack continues his research into what the crown may be—he has ruled out the Zetans—and is known to part with a vial or two of mysterious serum for the right price to unknown benefactors. Emogene now resides full time in Nordhagen Beach in her own mansion and owns the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys team. Wilhelmina still resides in the Cabot House, mostly telling the hired help how to do everything correctly. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598891274 As far as Cabot House is concerned, it is as pristine and beautiful as it ever was. |

Other Scores: Fort Hagen 10 at Abernathy 11, 13 inn. A five-run rally in the bottom of the ninth kept the Abernathy Adamantium in the game. Straight QuaLiTy electrified the crowd in the bottom of the tenth when he took University Point pitcher Marc Pondsip deep. His solo home run sent the Mirelurks home winners. "This was a good win for us," said QuaLiTy. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal." The Deathclaws are now on the verge of elimination from teh playoffs race. They have a complicated mathematical need of a bunch of sweeps to end the regular season just to tie for 2nd place. Next week, they need to sweep Atom and depend on Quincy and Warwick getting swept. In Week 20, they need to sweep Goodneighbor and have Warwick swept by Quincy. That would create a three-way tie for 2nd place among University Point, the Mirelurks, and the Gunners. Other Scores: Jamaica Plain 7 at Goodneighbor 8 The Goodneighbor Hancocks had to overcome a big game from Jamaica Plain left fielder Carney Cornseed to leave Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS with a victory. And they did, winning 8-7. Cornseed went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. With the win, Goodneighbor upped its record to 33-21. Good Don Duck hit a bases-clearing double off Ryan Hartley in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Hancocks in front, 8-7. In addition to the double, Duck had 1 single, while going 2 for 4. Quincy 8 at Atom 6 Atom got a terrific game from right fielder Travis Alone. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Quincy, 8-6. Alone went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Quincy pitcher Adam Forestman got the win, upping his record to 4-1. Bob Parkman got the loss. The triumph puts Quincy at 29-25 for the season. Quincy used the timely hitting of Bill Black to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Gunners on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer. 7 August 2297 - RL: Dwellers Eke Out Win in 14 The home squad pulled out a thrilling walk-off win in 14 innings. The Vault 81 Dwellers racked up a win at CURIE Inc. Field, bumping off the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers, 2-1. Josh Mustang, who started for Vault 81, pitched effectively for his team. Alex Godcomplex, now 3-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Vault 81 won the game in the bottom of the 14th inning. With one out and James Hickory on the mound for Shaw HS, left fielder Sam Farland hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Dwellers fans to their feet. "Josh is still learning," said Dwellers manager Crow Monitor. "The sky's the limit for him." The win elevated the Dwellers to 27-27. Other Scores: Fairline Hill Estates 5 at Diamond City 1 The Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai got a good effort from starter Papa Bush in defeating the Diamond City Swatters at The Great Green Jewel. The final score was 5-1. Bush picked up the win for Fairline Hill Estates, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5. The current losing streak for Diamond City has reached 8 games. Fairline Hill Estates left fielder Adam Crook delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh. Overall, he went 3 for 4, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2. Oberland 10 at Egret 8 Jim Pickman was a major factor in the 10-8 Oberland win over Egret. The T-51s catcher went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Oberland, at 39-15, is 9 games up in the Railroad League. Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bloatfly Williams? The Oberland right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the T-51s on top, 8-5. For the game, Williams had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 8 August 2297 - CL: Gun Fu Top Lifegivers in 10, Win CL The Bunker Hill Gun Fu are your first Cambridge League regular season champions. In the 10-inning, 12-6 Bunker Hill win over Union Hope Cathedral, the impact of Kevin Covert was substantial. Covert, who is tied for 2nd in the CL in runs scored with 40, went 2-5 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner was Bunker Hill reliever Jim Livermore, now 3-0. The loser was Aaron Burr. The win gives Bunker Hill a season record of 30-18. It could have been a different outcome for Bunker Hill, had it not been for Jerry Leftnut, the 24-year old third baseman . Leftnut contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Bunker Hill up, 7-6. The Gun Fu went on to score five more runs in the inning. "This was a good win for us," said Leftnut. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal." 8 August 2297 - GSL: Robobrains Stay Hot, Win GSL Regular Season Crown A late-game rally helped the Mass Pike Interchange Robobrains clinch the 2297 Glowing Sea League regular season title. The Robobrains got a strong performance from pitcher Ted Wood, who stymied the Forest Grove Marsh Molerats offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Milton General Stadium. Wood got the win, improving to 6-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Wood allowed 2 runs. Mass Pike Interchange used the timely hitting of Aesed Hayjen to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Robobrains on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer. "Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Mass Pike Interchange skipper Chris Puzey. "I can't complain." Mass Pike Interchange has 6 straight wins, Forest Grove Marsh 3 straight losses. The Robobrains now await their opponent for the playoffs between the Eastlake Aquaboys and the Fiddler's Green T-60s, who are both tied for 2nd place. |
At least I'm no stranger to seasons going pear shaped at the last moment, so I won't be to disappointed if none of the teams I want manage to pull this off. Looking less and less likely except for the Party Boys.

2297 Week 18 - The Week in Review
4 Attachment(s)
Analysis
There are two weeks left in the season, and still we only know ONE playoff team at the moment. The Oberland T-51s took off from Week 1 and never backed down all season. They are now officially the 2297 Railroad League champions and Erin Reische can get started on their banner. The T-51s also have a magic number of 1 when it comes to clinching the first overall seed in the CBO playoffs. At 39-15, Oberland has a six-game lead with six to play over the Brotherhood League's The Slog Ghouls and and the Minutemen's League the Goodneighbor Hancocks for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Ghouls and Hancocks are still in a battle for their league titles, though the Ghouls are close with a magic number of 2. In the Brotherhood League, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys look to have made their move in the playoff race, lining themselves up nicely with six to play, as long as they can remain steady on their second half progress. The Boys are now 15-9 in the second half of the season, best in the BL and tied for third-best in the CBO with Sunshine Tidings behind the RL's T-51s (17-7) and Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai (16-8). The Party Boys also have a chance to delay The Slog's quest for a league title should they find a way to sweep at Tarberry Field Forever. Overall, though, their main goal needs to be getting a series win so that they stay up in the wildcard race. In the Institute League, the Lexington Synths have surged ahead of the pack with their sweep of one-time league darling Starlight. The Killers, currently on an eight-game losing streak and a league-worst 5-19 in the second half of the season, can almost be counted out of the playoff race. They are not eliminated, but also do not look likely to turn it around. On the flip side, the Chemists have been hot of late, though they did drop Game Three of their series to stop a seven-game winning streak. With the series win, though, they are two games up on Abernathy, Fort Hagen, and Starlight for the wildcard spot. With the Shroud traveling to Sunshine Tidings, we will see if the playoff chase gets more irradiated. The Minutemen League appears to be a two-team race for the league crown, thus the playoffs, but silly things could happen if there are some sweeps. In fact, fourth-place University Point is still mathematically in contention for the wildcard spot, but they would need to go 6-0, need Quincy to go 3-3, and Warwick to go 0-6. That is unlikely, and the Gunners will have a hard time catching up to either the Mirelurks or Goodneighbor. We will feature the battle for first when Warwick travels to South Boston to take on the Hancocks to see if one or both have finally pulled away from the rest. Finally, the Railroad League is only about the race to a wildcard now, and it is not much of one. The Yao Guai currently hold a three-game lead over Vault 81 for the spot, with Shaw technically still alive for a tie for 2nd. Like the Deathclaws' situation, the Knuckle Punchers would need to sweep Diamond City and Egret, have the Yao Guai get swept by Oberland and Vault 81, and have the Dwellers swept Egret. Like University Point's chances, the Punchers aren't really in this fight. For the Dwellers, if they can remain within three games of the Yao Guai, those two teams face off in Week 20 where the wildcard spot would be on the line. For this week, Fairline is trying to avoid the sweep against the T-51s, so we will be in the Circle to catch that action. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 9 August 2297 - Players of the Week Star of the Week Picked in BL: So far in his young career, Sean Koester has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Brotherhood League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 20-year-old County Crossing Bloodbugs shortstop hit at a torrid .667 clip as he collected 10 hits in 15 at-bats, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 6 runs scored. In 54 games this season Koester has compiled a .350 batting average with 90 hits and 7 home runs. He has also scored 46 times and knocked in 44 runs. Engill Punishes IL Pitchers This Week: One of the league's most exciting young players, Austin Engill of the Abernathy Adamantium earned himself Institute League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 19-year-old shortstop had a lofty .545 average (6-for-11), collecting 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Engill is currently hitting at a .271 pace with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs. Big Bat Pays Off, Gatekeeper Player of the Week: 19-year-old Tutton Gatekeeper sent shock waves through Minutemen League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Minutemen League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Gatekeeper made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .583 average, 7 hits in 12 at-bats, 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. Where the Warwick Mirelurks third baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Gatekeeper certainly made his mark last week. In 2297 Gatekeeper has hit at a .333 clip with 73 hits, 14 home runs, 56 RBIs and has scored 40 times. RL Trophy Goes to Crook of Fairline Hill Estates: Adam Crook has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 19-year-old left fielder of the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai had a hot bat in the Railroad League over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Crook batted .500 with 6 hits in 12 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. Batting .339 to date, Crook has 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. |

Today in the CBO The View from the BMU by Nat Wright-Kowalski 10 August 2297 – Forest Grove Marsh On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 and 2298 seasons, we will feature one of the settlements where teams in the Boston Minor Union play. In our fourth trip around the BMU, we will go to a small, newer settlement just to the west of the Charles, Forest Grove Marsh. Then According to a terminal entry from 2287, "Forest Grove was once a small, scenic town overlooking the Charles River. Now it's a fetid marsh, due to the nonfunctional river lock and the failure of riverside floodwalls. This combination has driven off all but the most inquisitive or reckless scavengers. The dam is home to a small scavenger camp, where transients occasionally stop for the night. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598984194 "Half of the town is flooded with irradiated water and inhabited by feral ghouls. Mutated fern plants are known to grow at Forest Grove marsh and are sought for radiation resisting properties." Simply put, Nate Howard came upon the area around the time he was on a baseball memorabilia quest for Moe Cronin and a mutated fern quest for Solomon from Diamond City. Nate annihilated the ghouls and collected the mutated ferns he needed there. He also planted his Nate flag there to let raiders know they had better keep their distance. Now https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598984194 The Marsh Overview, 2297 - Find this build at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx3n-ogNoO4 There are not a lot of dangers of mass flooding around the Commonwealth these days. Settlers started with the basics of getting the Boston Dam working properly and then working back the river waters in the town. Then they cleaned up the place to look nice. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598984194 There are a number of shops and basic needs met. If there are larger needs, the settlers make their way across the river to Vault 81 or head west to Fort Hagen. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1598984199 The town is not a wealthy place likely to grow larger like Diamond City, Lexington, and Quincy, among others, but it does play an important part in controlling the Boston Dam and helping to clear out some of the places where the river had taken over, along with the problems of massive breeding spots for mirelurks south of the dam. In recent months, Westing Estate has even started to clear for some brave adventurer to take over as his estate. Perhaps Moe Cronin's retirement spot? |

Bell Franklin picked up the save for Concord, his 8th of the year. Concord took a 5-4 lead on Kevin Havenot's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Havenot hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Starlight pitcher City Moore shaking his head. 12 August 2297 - ML: Mungo Stars in 7-3 Hancocks Win The Goodneighbor Hancocks knocked off the Warwick Mirelurks, 7-3, at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. Carlos Mungo was a big reason Goodneighbor won. The catcher went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winning pitcher was Quincy Eloquent. Jamaica Plain 2 at Quincy 3 The Quincy Gunners defeated the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 3-2, in Minutemen League action at The Stone House. Quincy pitcher Matt Ranger had a standout performance. The win elevated the Gunners to 30-25. Had David Driftwood not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Driftwood hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Gunners. University Point 8 at Atom 10 Behind a fine performance from Will Ashfire, the Atom Cats knocked off the University Point Deathclaws, 10-8. Ashfire was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. With the bases loaded, he reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped Atom get the win. 12 August 2297 - Duck Puts Name Atop Hit List Good Don Duck is celebrating tonight. The Goodneighbor star stroked another base hit to break a tie with Ben Pettinato and claim the top spot on the single-season hits leaderboard. It was hit number 103 for Duck. Boston HS Quincy Eloquent of the Goodneighbor Hancocks posted his 12th victory of the year and broke the league single-season mark set previously by Justin Sphinx. Commenting to the press after the game Eloquent gave the secret to his success, "You don't have to make a big study of the batters before the game. I just throw low and away or high and tight, and remember to throw the curveball below the belt. Just keep your life and pitching simple and you'll get along quite well." Up to now Eloquent has recorded a record of 12-5. In 19 starts he has fanned 98 batters in 145.1 innings with a 3.78 ERA. 12 August 2297 - RL: Kawolski, T-51s Get 6-1 Win Sheng Kawolski pitched a gem in leading Oberland to a 6-1 victory over the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai. It gave Egret the 15-14 walk-off win. 12 August 2297 - Gunkill 5-for-7 for Dwellers The 5th time was not the charm for Steve Gunkill today. The center fielder for the Vault 81 Dwellers hit the milestone today at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina, but it was the Egret Scrappers that salvaged a 15-14 victory. Gunkill finished with a 5-for-7 line at the plate, and it still wasn't enough. "He was not an easy out, that's for sure," Egret manager Kip Bomb said to the press in the postgame interview. "I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win." Gunkill declined to speak to reporters at length following the game, saying only that "no loss is a good one." Steve Gunkill singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, struck out in the 11th and flied out in the 12th. After the 20-year-old Vault 81 Dwellers second baseman tallied 5 hits in 7 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 15-14 decision to the Egret Scrappers. "That was no fun," Islander said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win." Bubb Islander singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th and flied out in the 11th. Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 12 August 2297 - Ghouls Clinch Brotherhood League In addition to The Slog Ghouls' dramatic victory over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, the Ghouls have also clinched the Brotherhood League. After sneaking into the CBO playoffs last season, the Ghouls went on to win it all, surprising themselves as much as any other team. This season, it's more of the same in The Slog. "It's exciting to know that we are such a force in the CBO," Ghouls general manager Plop Wyman said. "After last year, it wouldn't be a surprise to shut it down. However, these ghous are still hungry!" Right now, The Slog is tied with the Minutemen League's Goodneighbor Hancocks for the CBO's second-best record. Neither team will catch the team in our next story. 12 August 2297 - T-51s Secure #1 Seed Following their 6-1 domination of Fairline Hill Estates, the Oberland T-51s at 40-15 can now claim the #1 seed in the CBO playoffs. The 40 victories is just one shy of their 2296 record when they finished 41-19 and tied the Warwick Mirelurks for the best regular season record in the CBO. Oberland still has five more regular season games to beat that record from last year. In the playoffs, they will meet the #8 seed, which looks like it will be the wildcard team from either the Brotherhood, Institute, or Railroad Leagues. |

In the bottom of the fourth, Goodneighbor center fielder John Rose had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and no one out, Rose stroked a run-scoring triple to right-center. It made the score 2-0, Goodneighbor. For the game, he went 1 for 4 with a triple. "We'll savor this win," Rose told the Goodneighbor Today, "then get ready for the next game." Should the Hancocks sweep Warwick (32-24) tomorrow, they would clinch the Minutemen League. Other Scores: University Point 12 at Atom 6 The University Point Deathclaws powered past the Atom Cats, 12-6, at Coolest Field in Town. Ryan Morris was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3, to lead the charge. University Point is 27-29 and Atom, with the loss, 22-34. University Point used a timely hit from Chad Morris to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Deathclaws ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact. Jamaica Plain 1 at Quincy 5 Quincy picked up a win at The Stone House, toppling the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 5-1. Pitcher Manny McDuff was one of the reasons the Gunners triumphed. The Red Rockets, at 21-35, have lost 4 straight games. McDuff made it look easy. He scattered 5 hits over 9 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. The left-hander upped his season record to 7-8. 13 August 2297 - DBL: Charles View Ampitheater Beats Trinity Plaza, 9-5 Bobby Thesea was instrumental in his team's 9-5 triumph over the Trinity Plaza Snipers. The left fielder was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Charles View Ampitheater Cannibals. With this game in the books, Charles View Ampitheater is 23-25, Trinity Plaza 33-15. Charles View Ampitheater used the clutch hitting of Nickles Czerniewski to capture the win. The catcher drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Cannibals the lead, 7-3. For the game, Czerniewski had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats. "We put it together today and came out with the win," Thesea said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." The Trinity Plaza loss was significant because it clinched the Downtown Boston League regular season title for the Cabot House Rayguns. The Rayguns will now have home-field advantage over the Snipers in the Downtown Boston Series next week. 13 August 2297 - RL: T-51s Beat Yao Guai, 9-2 Oberland right-hander Gerald Jerry pitched his team to victory over the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai at BosCom Circle. The final score was 9-2. In 8 innings, Jerry surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The triumph puts Oberland at 41-15 for the season. Oberland used a timely hit from Curtis Slingshot to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the T-51s ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact. Jerry told a Oberland Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win. Other Scores: Shaw 10 at Diamond City 7 The Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers topped the Diamond City Swatters, 10-7, with youngster Damani Beebe playing a key role. Beebe was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Knuckle Punchers in the win. Tom Mannequin earned the save for Shaw HS, his 11th of the year. The losses continue to add up for Diamond City, which has now fallen 10 times in a row. Beebe contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Shaw HS in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Beebe took a fastball from Mark Stuhlsatz and stroked the home run to left. His 23rd home run of the season allowed the Knuckle Punchers to leap in front, 4-3. Vault 81 12 at Egret 14 Paladin Danse made an impact in the 14-12 Egret win over Vault 81. Danse, who is tied for 3rd in the RL in total bases with 157, was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Shawn Simms, now 2-3, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The win makes Egret 25-31. Egret second baseman Dustin Bowfiddle delivered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 5. 13 August 2297 - Beebe Makes History with Home Run If radchickens dig the long ball, then they're loving Damani Beebe right now. The Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers's right fielder broke the single-season record for home runs with a blast at The Great Green Jewel. It was homer number 23 for Beebe this year. The previous mark was held by Paladin Danse. Damani Beebe flied out in the 1st and homered off Mark Stuhlsatz in the 3rd. So far this season Beebe is hitting .333 with 23 home runs, 77 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 77 hits in 231 at-bats and a .368 OBP. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 14 August 2297 - BL: Party Boys Prevail, 7-6, Over The Slog Brian Masterson was instrumental in his team's 7-6 triumph over the The Slog Ghouls. The second baseman went 3 for 6 with 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. Casey Diehl was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The win gives Nordhagen Beach a season record of 30-27. With Nordhagen Beach leading 5-3 in the top of the fifth, Masterson hit a 2-run single off The Slog hurler Gary Estate. It was the 100th hit of the season for Masterson and put his team ahead, 7-3. "We're not content beat The Slog," Masterson said. "We still need to come out firing next week and earn ourselves a playoff spot." Easy Town swept Finch Farm to move within a game of the Party Boys. Still, Nordhagen Beach showed a fighting spirit since the midway point of the season, winning their fifth straight series and 13 of their last 16 games. The Assaultrons visit Nordhagen Beach next weekend for a playoff-caliber matchup. Easy Town needs to win two of three to force a fourth game that would be played also in Nordhagen Beach. If the Assaultrons sweep, they would represent the Brotherhood League as the wildcard team. Should the Boys win two of three or sweep, they would be the wildcard representative. Other Scores: Finch Farm 10 at Easy Town 11 The radstorm could not dampen the enthusiasm of Easy Town fans at Easy Town Field as they continue to battle for a spot in the CBO playoffs. The inspired effort of Finch Farm right fielder Matt Basile was not enough to prevent a loss, 11-10, to the Easy Town Assaultrons. Basile was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Easy Town reliever Chris Salazar was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Good Company Schiller. Thomas Seefar converted his 1st save in 1 tries. Matt Stoops, who is tied for 3rd in the BL with a .380 batting average, aided the Easy Town cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. With the win, the Assaultrons have entered into a two-way battle for the BL wildcard spot with Nordhagen Beach with three to play. Easy Town travels to Nordhagen Beach next weekend. Finch Farm, the 2296 BL champions, will not be in the playoffs in 2297 after being swept. Salem 6 at County Crossing 1 Behind a fine performance from Pistol Schmidt, the Salem Witch Hats knocked off the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 6-1. Schmidt was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Witch Hats. The last-place Witch Hats improved to 26-31. Schmidt had a key at-bat for Salem early in the game. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and gave Salem an early 1-0 lead. Salem is now in a three-way tie for fourth place with the Bloodbugs and Finch Farm. 14 August 2297 - Fogcrawler's Hit Streak Soars to 20 Games Nobody has been able to shut down Nordhagen Beach Party Boys left fielder Michael Fogcrawler in recent days. The The Slog Ghouls fared no better than the rest. Today at Tarberry Field Forever, Fogcrawler picked up 2 hits in 3 at-bats en route to a 7-6 Party Boys victory. It stretched his hitting string to 20 consecutive games. Michael Fogcrawler hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and walked in the 8th. On the year Fogcrawler is hitting .379 with 91 hits, 19 home runs, 60 RBIs, .425 OBP and has scored 46 runs. 14 August 2297 - IL: Shroud Get Important Win in Playoff Race The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud topped the Sunshine Tidings Chemists by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to third baseman Micah Morals. Morals went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Silver Shroud. Reliever Kevin Marsh picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Bill Sarnacki took the loss. Curtis Thriceshot picked up the save for Fort Hagen, his 14th of the year. Jim Tiller, who leads the IL in doubles with 25, helped out the Fort Hagen cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the first baseman went 2-5 with a double. "I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Morals. At 28-29, the Silver Shroud find themselves in third place in the Institute League, jut one game back of the Chemists in the Institute League wildcard race. With the loss by Sunshine Tidings, the Lexington Synths have clinched the Institute League title without yet having played today. Other Scores: Starlight 8 at Concord 7, 11 inn. In the 8-7 Starlight win over Concord, the impact of Skinny Danner was substantial. Danner, who is tied for 7th in the IL in bases on balls with 26, was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Starlight now sits at 27-30, while Concord falls to 27-30. The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Danner delivered big-time for Starlight, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Bell Franklin. The game-changing hit put the Lady Killers on top, 8-7. Lady Killers manager Tick Raid wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse." By snapping their double-digit losing streak, Starlight remains mathematically alive for a wildcard spot in the IL, though chances are slim. Basically, they need to sweep Abernathy and then get help from Lexington over Sunshine Tidings and Concord getting at least two of three wins over Fort Hagen. 14 August 2297 - ML: Hancocks Sweep, Clinch ML The Minutemen League battle for the 2297 league title is over. Led by Jumper Hayes, the Goodneighbor Hancocks downed the Warwick Mirelurks, 6-5, to sweep the Mirelurks and claim the 2297 crown. Hayes went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Hancocks. John Oldsink got credit for the win, improving to 9-5. He allowed 5 runs on 10 hits in 8.2 innings. Goodneighbor has a 5-game win streak, while Warwick has lost 3 in a row. The Hancocks took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Warwick hurler Tom Rose with two outs, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. "We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Goodneighbor manager Jeremy Whiteplate. Other Scores: University Point 7 at Atom 8 Atom catcher Garrett Machine made his presence felt in the 8-7 Cats triumph over the University Point Deathclaws. Machine went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The save went to Freedom Williams, his 14th this season. The win puts Atom at 23-34. Travis Alone, who finished 5th in the ML in hits with 93 last year, aided the Atom cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk. Jamaica Plain 3 at Quincy 8 Starting pitcher Ray Human pitched well enough to help the Quincy Gunners beat the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 8-3. The victory gives Quincy a record of 32-25. Making an impact for the home team was Ben Pettinato. In the bottom of the fourth, the former first round draft pick had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 5-3, Gunners. With the win, Quincy is now in a 2nd place tie with Warwick. Those two teams battle for the wildcard spot in the ML next weekend in Warwick. The winner of that series will be in the CBO playoffs, and the loser of that series will what-if their way to Christmas. 14 August 2297 - RL: Win Streak Now at 7 for T-51s Oberland rode a decent outing from starter Matt Udder to victory over the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai. The final score was 8-5. Udder, now 12-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The T-51s lead the Railroad League by 12 games. Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chris Milteer? The Oberland shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the T-51s on top, 1-0. For the game, Milteer had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats. "Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Milteer. Other Scores: Shaw 11 at Diamond City 7 The 2297 season is getting uglier for Diamond City as they have now dropped 11 straight. The Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers stopped the Diamond City Swatters, 11-7, at The Great Green Jewel. The Knuckle Punchers got a big game from Rocky Gourd, who was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Shaw HS reliever Odysseus Blades picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Tyler Powers shouldered the loss. James Hickory earned the save, his 1st, for the Knuckle Punchers. Shaw HS used the timely hitting of Josh Freeman to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Knuckle Punchers on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer. At two games back of the Minutemen League's Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, the Swatters are likely to earn the #1 overall draft pick next weekend. Vault 81 7 at Egret 8 Vault 81 right fielder Deer Quickwalker had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Quickwalker went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Egret beat the Dwellers, 8-7. The win belongs to Andy Helium in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Danny Rocketman took the loss for Vault 81. Egret is now riding a 3-game win streak. The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Egret pinch hitter Casey Roux, facing Danny Rocketman, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Scrappers the 8-7 win. The Dwellers are in trouble for the RL wildcard spot but get their chance next weekend when Fairline Hill Estates visits. Vault 81 needs to sweep to earn a fourth game and a winner-takes-the-wildcard matchup. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 15 August 2297 - Egret Decides to Make Nickname Change The Egret Scrappers will be no more following the 2297 season. The team has decided to listen to fans and change their nickname from the Scrappers to an undecided nickname. Fans have expressed interest in the BMU affiliate, Posiedon Reservoir, having a more intimidating nickname with the Sentry Bots. "We're going to look into several nicknames," Egret GM Chad "Wrinkles" Erickson said. "It could be the Sentry Bots, or we may find a nickname more fitting to the Egret Tours Marina team. There has been no decision yet." Asked if the protest by fans was the major influence in the decision, Erickson said "Definitely." "[Team owner] Ron [Staples] and I had a lot of meetings about this," Erickson said. "We had a panel of fans come in and talk about it. We had [Paladin] Danse and team leaders Troy Phillabum and Mike Armstrong in on the meetings. We had our sponsors, Becky Fallon, Justin Ayo, and Alana Ayo in. Everyone agreed that Scrappers was not good enough for how we want to be identified. We want to sound like a tough team in the Wastes. "Therefore, we're going back to the chalkboard. We'll sketch some ideas, run them by our committee and the general public, and see what best fits." A flyer poll was passed around the Marina recently. In addition to the Sentry Bots name, others included the Super Mutants, Mutant Hounds, Behemoths, Alpha Mongrels, Attack Dogs, Radscorpions, Demolitionists, Gunslingers, Turrets, Minigunners, Gatling Lasers, Pink Lamps, Idiot Savants, Wastelanders, Wild Wastelanders, Diamond City's *****es, Sandmen, Blitz, Bloody Mess, Pain Train, and Critical Bankers. 15 August 2297 - DHPL: Night People Win at Taffington Boathouse, Clinch DHPL Getting offensive support from Pop Murphy, the Greentop Nursery Night People topped the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters, 6-4. Murphy was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Night People. Josh Gillette picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 7 in 8 innings. With the win, Greentop Nursery pushed its record to 32-18. Pablo Rivera, the 18-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Rivera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Greentop Nursery up, 2-0. "If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Rivera. "The only team that can beat us is us." With the win, Greentop Nursery is the 2297 regular season champions of the Deep Hollow Pond League. They will now have home-field advantage over the General Atomics Galleria Robotics Experts in the Deep Hollow Pond Series. 15 August 2297 - GSL: T-60s Deal Aquaboys 5-2 Loss, Force Play-in Game Starting pitcher Chris Ciccone held up his part of the bargain, helping the Fiddler's Green T-60s stymie the Eastlake Aquaboys, 5-2. The win gives Fiddler's Green a season record of 29-21, tying them with the Aquaboys for second place in the Glowing Sea League. Fiddler's Green used the timely hitting of Julian Roughneck to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the T-60s on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer. "We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Ciccone said. By winning, the T-60s will now face off again against East Lake tomorrow to decide who will meet Mass Pike Interchange in the Battle for the Neon Glow. |
2297 Week 19 - The Week in Review

Analysis
We now have some better ideas of teams eliminated and who is still standing in the playoff races. Playoff breakdowns: BL Champions: The Slog Wildcard Race: Nordhagen Beach +1 over Easy Town Eliminated: County Crossing, Finch, Farm, Salem IL Champions: Lexington Wildcard Race: Sunshine Tidings + 1 over Fort Hagen + 1 over Concord and Starlight + 1 over Abernathy Eliminated: none ML Champions: Goodneighbor Wildcard Race: Warwick and Quincy even Eliminated: University Point, Atom, Jamaica Plain RL Champions: Oberland Wildcard Race: Fairline Hill Estates +3 over Shaw and Vault 81 Eliminated: Egret, Diamond City A breakdown of Week 20's biggest matchups: Brotherhood League: Easy Town and Nordhagen Beach The scheduling gods got this one right. The Assaultrons need to win two of three to force a play-in game and a sweep puts them in. The Party Boys need two of three or a sweep to be the wildcard representative. Easy Town holds a 7-2 advantage on the season over the Boys, the largest win margin of any team vs team matchup in the Brotherhood League. April 22-23 @ Easy Town: NB 8, ET 7; ET 7, NB 6, 10 inn.; ET 10, NB 5 May 6-8 @ Easy Town: ET 6, NB 4, 12 inn.; ET 12, NB 5; ET 3, NB 1 June 2-5 @ Nordhagen Beach: NB 5, ET 4; ET 11, NB 1; ET 6, NB 2 Things have changed a lot for Nordhagen Beach since the midway point of the season as they have now won five straight series. Still, the psychologic advantage is in the Assaultrons' favor coming into this matchup. The Party Boys have to find a way to stay hot to put themselves in the playoffs, winning at least two out of three or four games. Prediction: Easy Town wins 2 of 3, wins play-in game. Minutemen League: Quincy at Warwick Also a scheduling gods' favor, this matchup is simple: win two and you're in. It cannot get easier than that. Warwick has the experience of winning the Minutemen League in 2296, which seems to give them the clutch advantage, but the Mirelurks also could not afford to be swept last week at Goodneighbor when the league title was on the line. The Mirelurks hold a 5-4 advantage on the season against the Gunners, and being at home will definitely give them the advantage since they are 3-0 there. April 8-10 @ Quincy: Qui 2, War 1; Qui 14, War 7; Qui 9, War 7 May 6-8 @ Quincy: War 3, Qui 1; War 5; Qui 3; Qui 5, War 3 June 3-5 @ Warwick: War 4, Qui 2; War 6, Qui 3; War 4, Qui 1 The Gunners got a boost last week to close the three-game gap, but they have a tough time scoring against the Mirelurks' pitching, especially at the pitcher-friendly confines of the Homestead. Still Quincy's offense is much better than Warwick's and their pitching combination of Matt Ranger (8-7, 4.97), Manny McDuff (7-8, 4.92), and Ray Human (9-4, 4.96) can matchup well to the Warwick starters of John Diner (10-7, 4.39), Justin Sphinx (8-7, 6.02), and Dave Kovalenko (6-6, 5.99). Prediction: Quincy knocks off the Mirelurks on the last day of the regular season to earn the wildcard slot in the ML. Railroad League: Fairline Hill Estates at Vault 81 This is a potential playoff matchup that could make things quite interesting should the Dwellers find a way to sweep the Yao Guai and Shaw sweeps the Egret Scrappers. That scenario is not likely, and we will tell you why below, but a three-way tie for second place in the RL (which is also a chance in the Institute League) would be an exciting addition to the playoffs. We're not sure how that would be handled by the automated playoff system. The Yao Guai hold a 5-4 edge over Vault 81 in the head-to-head matchups, which seems to show that the teams are about even when they play. That also means the likelihood of a sweep is not very good a chance for the Dwellers. There is no doubt, though, that they will be trying. April 22-24 @ FHE: V81 10, FHE 5; FHE 5, V81 4, 12 inn.; FHE 8, V81 3 May 6-8 @ FHE: V81 8, FHE 2; FHE 9, V81 4; V81 6, FHE 2 June 3-5 @ Vault 81: V81 6, FHE 2; FHE 8, V81 5; FHE 10, V81 7 Fairline Hill Estates currently holds a 2-1 advantage at Vault 81, and the Yao Guai are just better as a team than the Dwellers. In fact, had it not been for their 1-11 season record against Oberland, the Yao Guai would already have the wildcard slot wrapped up. Prediction: Fairline wins Game 1 and clinches the wildcard spot. Institute League: Sunshine Tidings at Lexington Other than the Synths clinching the IL thanks to Starlight's massive implosion, the rest of the league is a jumbled mess. Lexington could play spoiler for the Chemists should they win 2 of 3 or sweep in what is a meaningless series for the league title race. What can motivate Lexington is that they are currently tied for the #3 seed with The Slog in the CBO playoff race, so Lexington does have motivation to win. Of course, Sunshine Tidings will wrap up the wildcard spot with a road sweep and can clinch at least a tie for second place by winning two of three. A loss in the series, and one of the other teams in the division could be looking down at the Chemists for that final wildcard spot. What gives Sunshine Tidings an advantage is that Lexington has been their favorite team to play so far this season. The Chemists hold a 6-3 advantage, and at least one win would put them even or ahead with every other team on their schedule for success. April 22-24 @ ST: ST 2, Lex 0; ST 5, Lex 2; ST 2, Lex 1 May 6-8 @ ST: ST 3, Lex 0; Lex 4, ST 3; St 3, Lex 0 June 3-5 @ Lexington: ST 4, Lex 0; Lex 9, ST 4; Lex 6. ST 5 The Synths are 2-1 at home despite only winning three of five. Sunshine Tidings also shut out the Synths four times in their matchups, including all three times Tony Bertha faced off against them. Bertha has not been dominant this season (8-10, 3.54), but he is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 27 innings against the Synths in 2297!!! Prediction: Chemists take 2 of 3 to boost themselves into the wildcard spot and Lexington enters the CBO playoffs as the 4th seed. |
August 2297 - News and Notes - August 16
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1586093507
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 16 August 2297 - Players of the Week Player of the Week: Easy Town's Ransom: His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Joe Ransom was rewarded with the Brotherhood League Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Easy Town Assaultrons first baseman hit .667 while collecting 10 hits in 15 at-bats, 1 home run and 3 RBIs. Currently Ransom is batting .304 with 76 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 32 runs and scored 43 times. IL Names Best Player: 26-year-old Joe Provisioner sent shock waves through Institute League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Institute League Player of the Week Award. A full-timer this season, Provisioner made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .700 average, 7 hits in 10 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBI. Where the Sunshine Tidings Chemists first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Provisioner certainly made his mark last week. For the year Provisioner is batting .282 with 58 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 24 times and driven in 25. Alone Selected ML Player of the Week: At the age of 29, Travis Alone might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Atom right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .769 batting average. For his efforts Alone collected the Minutemen League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 10 hits in 13 at-bats, no home runs and 2 RBIs last week in 3 games. This season Alone is hitting .366 with 93 hits, 5 home runs, 28 RBIs, scored 39 runs and played in 57 games. RL Announces Player of the Week: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Jonathan Abern, the Oberland T-51s 19-year-old second baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Railroad League Player of the Week honors. He ripped 11 hits in 13 at-bats, compiling a .846 average with no home runs and 3 RBIs. This year Abern is batting .367 with 88 hits, 5 home runs, 39 RBIs, 18 walks, .418 OBP and has scored 48 runs. 16 August 2297 - Nerd Ragers' Cecil Injured by Attack Dog A lone attack dog without an apparent owner got the better of Phil Cecil's throwing arm last night, injuring the College Square Nerd Ragers' best pitcher. The injury is not considered serious, but Cecil will need to be treated for his wounds to prevent infection. He was sent to Kendall Hospital in Cambridge to receive treatment. On the season, Cecil was 11-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 132.1 innings pitched. He allowed 41 earned runs on 119 hits with 45 walks and 144 strikeouts. He allowed only five home runs on the season for the Concord Radstags' minor league team. College Square will meet the Bunker Hill Gun Fu in the Cambridge League Championship, a three-game series between the top two teams of the regular season.
