Hmmm, actually things aren't as bad for our favorite teams as I thought a few days ago. Both the Party Boys and Fort Hagan at least have a chance, and that's all that can be asked, really.

They are very much in it, and I am rooting for both of them for you and Tyke!

I know it's a lot of work, so I just want to say I appreciate all the statistics posts and stuff too!

Tyke 09-07-2020 04:11 AM

^^^^^^^ What he said! All the hard work that goes into this is much appreciated.
Great to see the Party Boys and Fort Hagen still in it at the business end of the season - personally, I never had any doubts, of course! ;)
Also good to see the Night People sitting at the top of the DHPL - a good sign for the future.

Yes, the Night People had a late-season tear that moved them out of playoff contention into first place through an 11-game winning streak. They have most certainly been hot despite their best player (Pointie Shroud) getting the call up to the Party Boys, which was probably a bad call up because he has exactly one at bat since being called up.

The View from the BMU

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

17 August 2297 – Greentop Nursery

On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 and 2298 seasons, we will feature one of the settlements where teams in the Boston Minor Union play.

In our fifth trip around the BMU, we will go to a small settlement dedicated to helping feed the Commonwealth, Greentop Nursery.

Then

According to a terminal entry from 2287, "Greentop Nursery was a house with a large greenhouse on the outskirts of Malden.

"Contains a large greenhouse at the bottom of a hill to the north, and a medium sized house similar to the ones in Sanctuary at the top of the hill, with a makeshift bedroom off to the right side. The site contains a chemistry station and cooking station just outside the front door of the main house to the right."

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1599488157

Nate first went to the location as part of a Minutemen quest when super mutants occupying nearby Breakheart Banks, where they slaughtered all settlers there, were starting to harrass the settlers at Greentop Nursery. Nate blasted those super mutants to super mutant heck and the Greentop Nursery settlers pledged their loyalty to the Minutemen cause. Nate also helped return Breakheart Banks back to a livable small farmland for settlers during that time.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1599488248
Old Gullet Sinkhole

Now

Not much has changed about the Nursery other than some expanded housing and defenses. The town is close to the reestablished Malden, so some of the farmhands live in Malden and make a daily commute, being sure not to fall into Old Gullet Sinkhole, one of the spots where a small nuclear device went off during the Great War and caused a water-filled crater to form with a constant resupply of water from a burst pipe leading from Dark Hollow Pond dripping into the hole. Otherwise, Greentop Nursery is in a safer zone with roads leading directly to Malden to the west, Breakheart Banks to the north, The Slog and Finch Farm to the east, and County Crossing to the south.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1599488157

Longneck Lukowski's Grave

We had planned to feature the ballpark entrance banners of each of the BMU teams we visited, but we were unable to work that out for the first four installments. When we get a chance to revisit those parks, we will highlight their ballpark banners.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1599488157

As far as Longneck Lukowski's Grave, it is a field name we at Publick Occurrences love. Other than the factory bearing the Longneck Lukowski name and the sponsorship, we don't know where old LL is buried, so the company made their own little story this year:

"Legend says that Longneck Lukowski, before his days canning meats and fishes for permanent storage in pantries, had a large cache of treasures hidden in Malden before the Great War.

"On October 23, 2077, when he heard that the Chinese were dropping bombs on America, Longneck Lukowski went to retrieve his treasures. Unfortunately, that treasure was directly in the location we now call Old Gullett (sic) Sinkhole.

"Supposedly, the bomb dropped directly on Longneck Lukowski's long neck and buried him deep beneath the ground into an underground cave. Legend says his remains lie directly below Greentop Nursery, in the place we call Longneck Lukowski's Grave."

News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

18 August 2297 - Cecil Injury Not Human-Related

The attack dog attack that injured College Square Nerd Ragers' ace pitcher Phil Cecil was not a gambling or otherwise human conspiracy.

In the investigation into the area, one Cambridge official investigating the College Square area where the attack occurred heard the whimpering of puppies. Through a small hole in a building, he discovered a litter of puppies. Cecil was injured in that location, indicating that the attack dog was the mother to the puppies and probably attacked to protect her puppies. A look at the dog's carcass showed that she was milking.

Officials have closed the incident as being an accidental and random creature attack. The puppies were taken into custody. No word what their fate will be.

Cecil is unavailable for Games 1 and 2 of the series. Should College Square win one of those two games, Cecil would pitch Game 3 on Saturday.

18 August 2297 - Home Field Advantage: Moody, Greentop Nursery Open Dark Hollow Pond Series with Win

The Greentop Nursery Night People powered past the visiting General Atomics Galleria Robotics Experts, 5-1, in the opener of the Dark Hollow Pond Series at Longneck Lukowski's Grave today. Greentop Nursery right fielder Matilde Moody was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2, to lead the charge. The Night People now lead the series 1-0.

Ryan Bale broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Night People in front, 1-0. For the game, Bale went 1-4.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Bale told the Greentop Nursery Observer.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Longneck Lukowski's Grave. The scheduled starters for the game are Punky Shaum for the General Atomics Galleria Robotics Experts and Aaron Demps for the Greentop Nursery Night People.

18 August 2297 - Leftnut, Bunker Hill Start Cambridge League Championship Strong with Home Win

The Bunker Hill Gun Fu got past the College Square Nerd Ragers by the score of 9-6 today in the crucial first game of the Cambridge League Championship at Wicked Shipping Field. Bunker Hill third baseman Jerry Leftnut was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4, to lead the charge. With a 1-0 lead, the Gun Fu will have two chances to close out the Nerd Ragers.

Leftnut had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the seventh for the Gun Fu. Coming up with the bases loaded and Bunker Hill trailing 6-5, he hit a grand slam.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Leftnut said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Brent Brewer for the College Square Nerd Ragers and Reed Botti for the the Bunker Hill Gun Fu.

18 August 2297 - Rayguns Hammered by Middle, Drop Game 1 to Snipers

With third baseman Paul Middle leading the charge, the Trinity Plaza Snipers got a road win over the Cabot House Rayguns, 9-7, in Game 1 of the Downtown Boston Series today. Middle went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice at Cabot House Square to help Trinity Plaza take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Trinity Plaza relied on the bat of Adam Brownknees to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Snipers ahead, 9-7. For the game, Brownknees had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We came out aggressive," said Snipers manager Bill Pinkerton. "We came out swinging the bats."

The Snipers entered the 8th inning trailing 7-3 but scored four in the inning to tie the game. Middle led off the scoring with a solo home run. The other three runs came on an RBI single by Americ Boston and a two-RBI single by Shawn Burton.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Cabot House Square. Slated to start are Edward Waddle for the Trinity Plaza Snipers and Isaiah Tassin for the the Cabot House Rayguns.

Nice feature. I like Greentop Nursery as that's where one of my main bases is in this most recent playthrough I'm doing is. My first few times I didn't like it cause it seemed hard to supply, but this time I did a few runs to the nearby areas to gather supplies and found it was actually a quite good place for looking for loot.

19 August 2297 - 8 Straight Wins for Synths

A couple missed stories first

19 August 2297 - Assaultrons End Fogcrawler's Streak

Michael Fogcrawler of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys came up empty at the plate today and went hitless in 4 at-bats for the first time in 20 games. Making matters even worse for the left fielder, Nordhagen Beach dropped the game to the Easy Town Assaultrons 7-6.

"It was not a good day today," Fogcrawler told the press in postgame comments. "We lost the game and the streak is over."

This season Fogcrawler has hit at a .373 clip with 60 RBIs, 19 home runs and 47 runs scored. He has played in 58 games.

The Robobrains took the series 2-0. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Glowing Sea League and a 32-18 record.
