The initial Face of the Franchise missions were released last night, and it's clear OOTP is trying to rig it so I can never buy a Tony Gwynn card of any kind!
It seems people have already started speculating on the unreleased FOTF mission cards (not a big leap to make, really, and I was thinking about doing the same for a couple of them) so seems like all non-live cards are being listed at inflated prices. This definitely puts a kink in building a FTP team. Unless you're that guy posting in the general chat about how he has 5.5 million PP in assets for his FTP team (I am sincerely jealous of his abilities here, I'd love to understand how you get to that point!). Bedford Falls has been slowly accumulating players, and my strategy has been to focus on the biggest upgrades; I've been telling myself it's ok to hold off on more minor upgrades because the expensive guys should come first. Except now those "minor" guys I've been keeping an eye on are (or will be) part of the FOTF missions, so their prices have been jacked up. I'm hoping the prices will settle back down after a bit of scalping, but all it takes is one rich bozo to decide "heck, I'm paying 50k PP for this card that used to sell at 5k because it's the last one I need for the mission" and that's the new price everyone lists at. |

yeah, nothing like newly added missions to jack up the price of cards.... I've been monitoring a set of them to wait for the prices to come back down to reality a bit so I can nab 2 of them and finish off a couple missions (and not like I have the funds to buy them yet anyway, so no rush ).... so far the asking prices on some of the 'reasonable' ones have dropped over 20K in the last week setting a goal for Waffletown for the remainder of this season: play .500 ball. If they can go 27-27 in the final 54 games, they will finish with 99 losses (and thus avoid the 100 loss mark for the first time in franchise history in any version of PT) |

K-Town Magic Number Down to One in OL S279

The Rock Piles, with three games left against Bluffton, need just a win, or a single loss by Left Coast and Ewa Beach to win the 2036 crown. The two chasers are scheduled for three game home-and-home series to close out the OL season.
In PT play, Bluffton leads the NC east division, while Ewa Beach had a solid 15-9 month to grab the second wild card spot in the AC. Port Ruppert slumped to 9-16 and fell four games back of the wild card. Ring Road is in relegation danger, while Otonokizaka will surely be headed back to bronze. |

Hidden Valley still sits atop the standings with a month left. Plenty of games to be played today including some head to head matchups with the contenders. Remaining games for the teams above .500:
Hidden Valley: (11) 7vs. Cary, 4vs. Norwood Highland: (17) 7vs. Shinbone, 3vs. Coney Island, 7vs. Palolo Palolo: (15) 1vs Shinbone, 7vs. Highland, 4vs. Kansas, 3vs. Coney Island Kansas: (10) 4vs. Palolo, 3vs. Weston Pointe, 3vs. Brigadoon Norwood: (10) 6vs. Hamtramck, 4vs. Hidden Valley Cary: (7) All vs Hidden Valley In PT play: In the AC Kansas who owns the best record in the league and Highland have comfortable leads in their divisions. Palolo is 5.5 back in the WC with Weston Pointe 7 back In the NC: Hidden Valley leads Cary by 9 in the East and Cary is 8 back in the WC. Coney Island, Brigadoon, Norwood and Hamtramck are all still sitting in the relegation zone. |

Annandale visits Krikkit for four games to start the final day of sims. They are the War Robots' last OL games, and if they win them all, they can't be caught. The Atom Smashers, with 13 OL games left, have the toughest route to the crown, and need at least a split, and then a red hot September. Annandale's success will have a direct effect on contenders Asylum and Jefferson Valley, with their respective tasks, though difficult, getting easier with each Krikkit loss.
In PT, Krikkit is the only OL team in a solid spot for the post season, with a big lead in the AC central. Annandale is 4-1/2 off the lead in the AC east and 6-1/2 from the wild card. In the NC, Asylum is 7-1/2 back of a wild card. Terra Incognita, Norwood, and Waffletown are all in relegation, with only the Rustlers having a legitimate chance to escape. The Red Menace and Syrups are headed back to silver. |
Fighting Chickens out of Compliance?
I was checking the schedule to see if K-Town had clinched the crown in S279, and when I checked Ewa Beach's schedule, the name of a Dustin May, a Future Legend, was there. I don't know how long he's been on the roster, but his presence makes Ewa Beach ineligible for OL play. Inasmuch as he is the #1 starter in the rotation, it is no accident he is there. He has started 31 games, so it seems he's been there since the beginning. Guess omgpuppies forgot that no cards for current players are allowed. The standings will be refigured with the Ewa Beach schedule removed.

I would say, at this point, finish the season with him if he helps you get points. We'll just take Ewa Beach out for the season, and you can start anew next week. Don't beat yourself up about it. You don't have enough games left to qualify anymore. With K-Town's big lead, the point is moot. They've already clinched. |
Quote:
Yeah, it's easy to do since Future Legends come up under non-live cards. I've almost bought an FL a couple of times. |
Shinbone has lost 9 straight and might be headed to relegation in Diamond. Haven't changed anything, don't know what happened...

In effort to be fair in Diamond I am playing straight up but should I have a week I do get relegated I am going to do a sell off many and re-tool the team. I am sitting on 71K in PP which isnt going to fix the team but I could raise enough capital to build the team and the ballpark to suit it. This team does ok at home and in tournaments with neutral factors, I get killed on the road. |
Quote:
Rebuilding the team to your liking is playing it straight, in my opinion. We're playing a game, so go have fun. It's not like you're tanking to go back and get more points. Besides, PT is so quirky, you might end up in getting promoted. ;) |

If they ever do that with Harry Chiti, I quit. |

The War Robots left the door slightly open and Asylum sneaked by, winning five of six, and capturing the crown. It is their first crown since PT 2.0 and ensures that each of the Fairsmith Group will bring home hardware in this iteration. Port Ruppert and Terra Incgonita have each already succeeded.
In PT, the War Robots are the lone OL playoff team. The relegations are attached. |
The Raccoons Roll in Diamond

Highland posts a 13-4 record down the stretch to take the Diamond Crown.
In PT play those same Raccoons along with Kansas both won 106 games and their divisions in the AC. Weston Pointe looked like they battled their way to the WC until dropping their last four games to end up one game behind. I the NC our lone rep in the playoffs is Hidden Valley. Norwood, Coney Island, Brigadoon and Hamtramck will be dropping down to Gold. Good luck to all those who made the playoffs Both of my teams are in Gold next week so I will handle those standings. |
K-Town Finishes Dominating Performance in OL S279

The Rock Piles left little room for doubt or challenge in OL in 2036 and completed the formality of copping the crown with another fine month. The miscue by Ewa Beach rendered them ineligible for OL consideration. In an e-mail exchange with Chad, it was decided that, given the length of the oversight, and K-Town's large lead, it would be easiest to remove the Fighting Chickens games from the schedule. In the past, when only a few games were involved, there had been efforts to separate those games, but given the amount and the fact that it would not impact the standings, it was decided to take this path.
In PT play, Bluffton made it as a division winner in the NC and Ewa Beach, whose roster is back into compliance, make an OL World Series possible. Relegations are attached. |

With a Bastille Day theme. Let's keep an eye out for the Yardbirds trio in entry league. If you're bronze or below, please grab them. Let's try and get Blitzkrieg in, finally. Good luck to those in playoffs. I'll check back later to see how OL made out.

Iron 224 Report
Only 3 teams competed in Iron this season, so no championship.
The Sierra Vista Scorpions did not play against the other 2 OL teams, and finished at 82-80 in non-OL play, out of the playoffs, but also out of relegation. Meanwhile, the Ft. Huachuca Buffalo Soldiers went 12-7 against the Vlora White Stallions. If Vlora can win their wild card game, the two teams will go at it again in the NC Division Series. |
First Check of Playoffs
Still standing:
D365 - Kansas Rangers, Highland Raccoons, Hidden Valley Bombers G-320 - Krikkit War Robots S279 - Bluffton Boomerangs; Ewa Beach Fighting Chickens lost wild card B254 - Hooterville Haymakers, Hartford Whalers; Transylvania Impalers lost wild card B244 - Blitzkrieg Boppers I224 - Fort Huachuca Buffalo Soldiers; Vlora White Stallions lost wild card Will update in a couple of hours. By the way, does this happen to you? After I've opened two or three other league reports, I have log off on and then on again to open more. Weird. |
Can't escape the OL teams. My non-OL team got eliminated from a silver tournament yesterday by the Palolo and today by Brigadoon....
If you guys run into the Sugar Hill Gang, gimme a break-thanks in advance :) |
Krikkit's goes out in the division series 2-3! And, I'm not too sad about it. Diamond was a little rough last time. Hitter's did ok, but my pitchers were punished. At 75k+ for a decent diamond level pitcher, it's going to take a while. I've got a little more than that now, just need to figure out who's worth it.

Latest in PT
Here's what left:
D:365 - Kansas up 1-0, Highland down 0-1, Hidden Valley still 0-0. S279 - Bluffton up 1-0 in conference final B254 - Hartford down 0-1 in conference finals. That's it. I leave it to others to figure the promotion/relegation. |
Both OL teams lost their sub-league series, both to wild card teams. So that means the series is between two wild card teams --- interesting!

OL is Done for 2036
With Hidden Valley's elimination in D365, OL has no teams left playing. Congrats on another successful season. Let's make sure we get everybody in for next week. Use all the spots on your Friends List, even if another team is more than two levels from you. Can't hurt. Be sure to friend those within two of your level. I haven't tried to figure the promotion/relegation because I generally mess it up. My goodness the inflation of the historical players! My three teams will be forced to stand pat despite having an okay amount of PP. I'm pretty sure in past weeks I'd have been able to make at least one or two moves. Of course, I shy away from what might be helpful players, just because I have someone I like better. Greg Maddox just ain't replacing Jon Matlack(or anybody else). It didn't help that 58 tourney packs from the week yielded a single live diamond, three live gold, an 80 historical gold, and an 82 historical gold. Ah well, they're free and don't require much work to sign up for. Just a little luck.
|
Blitzkrieg were beaten in the divisional round, just like all my other teams today. They still go up to silver.

Terra Incognita, Norwood and Waffletown relegated from Gold to Silver.... got Blitzkrieg friended with Waffletown so maybe we can actually get them into the league this time around |
Quote:
I've had them friended since the start and I have two teams in silver with the Rustlers going down, and the Syrups are long time OLers, so perhaps that veteran presence will do the trick. I guess I'll cover silver. |
Gold Setup
1 Attachment(s)
Both my teams are in Gold this week so I will manage the standings. Diamond standings are up for grabs.
In the AC Norwood sits alone in the East while Annandale and Asylum will hold court in the in the AC Central. In the NC- Brigadoon, Coney Island & Krikkit will battle it out out in the NC Central and Jefferson Valley and Hamtramck will try to make noise in the NC West. Bluffton stands alone in the NC East. Looks like everyone made it, would have been nice if Bluffton and Norwood were in the same division or paired off with one of the divisions with multiple teams already. Good luck to all this week. |
The S250 Set Up
1 Attachment(s)
Looks pretty good. Nobody seems to have been shorted on the schedule.
|
Gold will have about 208 OL games this week:
Divisions mates Brigadoon, Coney Island and Krikkit with all over 60 games followed by Jefferson Valley and Hamtramck in the mid forties. Annandale, Asylum and Bluffton clock in with 35 games or over. Norwood is on the low end with only 18. One thing that jumped out at me is that Hamtramck has 10 OL games today-all vs. Jefferson Valley. |
Oh look, it's the bi-weekly BFF/OL mashup.
That's totally how the friends list is supposed to work, right? Good luck all innocent victims of the devs inability to fix a simple issue for years |

thanks! already have 3 teams, no money spent. will do right now. are the mission SE cards eligible? Project Mayhem has no money & no lives on roster, but a good amount of SE reward cards (working on replacing them, but it's gonna be slow). |

B202 is where five OL teams meet up. Very similar to how the Muse won their last crown.
Ring Road, Daytona Beach, and Fort Huachuca are in the AC, with Otonokizaka and Transylvania in the NC. Daytona Beach - 20 games Fort Huachuca - 7 games Otonokizaka - 11 games Ring Road - 23 games Transylvania - 7 games Total Games: 68 I have probably done bad math (like always), but that's the tally I have. Fort Huachuca and Transylvania will not be able to vie for a crown, but they can definitely play spoiler. |

The first page of this thread lays out exactly what the requirements are, and what cards are eligible. It is strongly suggested that you keep live and furture legends on your inactive roster, where they won't slip onto the active roster should the AI have a brain fart, which has happened. From the inactive roster, they'll be available for tourneys and other missions. Welcome! |
Asheboro Road Dogs blew the team up the last couple of days. Sold all the SE cards, only completed the NL Lives, and bought into a 1980's theme team. Wanted to try something different since the Road Dogs were stuck between Iron and Bronze.
Rotation includes: Don Sutton (97), John Candeleria (89) and Rick Rhoden (89) Lineup includes: Eddie Murray (93), Mike Greenwell (89) and Tony Gwynn (81) Most likely won't be that competitive, but we weren't anyways. At least the names i'm getting are bringing back the joy of opening packs back in the 80's. We will work to improve on our 80's theme. |

The Mundys swept a pair of home and away series from Left Coast to set the pace, in what should be a spirited chase in 2037. K-Town has yet to begin action, but does have at least a 20-game OL slate on tap.
In PT, I believe I've found the right group of attachments to give the picture. |

My other teams are also slowly selling off many of the SE cards. When you get to diamond you find out that those cards won’t take you very far in that league. So I’m always looking to upgrade, though it’s naturally a slow process. In fact, Brigadoon just sold Suzuki because he didn’t fit the theme. I hate to sell a player like that but sometimes you got to do it! Also in the back of my mind, I figure that if it turns out to be a bad move and I need to re-purchase the card it shouldn’t be that hard because there’s always 1 billion of them in the auction house. |
Syrups just picked up a "reasonably" priced Bid McPhee to add to their old timey lineup (average year for the 26 man roster now at 1903); so just need one more batter to finish off the 1800s batter mission and the 1800s MVP mission (hopefully sooner than later, cause that Cap Anson will fit in quite nicely :D)... but will need to save up a bunch now to afford that last piece.
(edit: just pulled a Deacon White from a pack  already have him, but at least he should bring in a good chunk of funds to go towards that last mission card) |
