Fresh off a fine 96-win regular season and a first-round win over the Claxton Diamonds, the LaGrange Gators are chomping at the bit to win their first-ever Ruthlandian Union title and advance to the IPA Pro Cup Finals for the first time in the team's history... the Gators are gunning for their first-ever Pro Cup trophy... to get there they will have to get past a very fine team, the Colfax Black Sox... the Gators' key to success lies in it fine hurlers, both starters and relievers... they will have to shut down the Colfax attack... starters Chucky Beckman, Jerry Ezell and Lucien Petit will have to rise to the occasion... hopefully Michel Paquette will have a better series this time around... he was awful in the first round with two losses and a sky-high ERA... the LaGrange bullpen is impressive... it features Dave Loxley and Trey Ladner... plus the second-rate offense will have to produce... Tony Rojas, Cleve Juban, Chogie Alfieri and Rusty Hawes will have to put a few runs on the scoreboard... it really doesn't look good for the Gators, the Black Sox are an impressive team... methinks, Colfax will win in six games... but, as you know, what does EC know?

GATORS, HELLCATS CLAIM IPA 2ND ROUND OPENERS
The two underdogs both claimed opening-game wins in the IPA League Championship Series... the LaGrange Gators rallied past favored Colfax 4-3 in the Ruthlandian Union title series, while the Hartsdale Hellcats prevailed over South Fork 4-0 in the Tycobbian Union... but there is still a long way to go to decide the best-of-seven series.

HELLCATS WIN 2 ON THE ROAD; SOX, GATORS SPLIT
In the Tycobbian Union League title series, Hartsdale won a pair of games on the road in South Fork and took the upper hand in the best-of-seven series... in the Ruthlandian Union LCS, Colfax and LaGrange have split the first two contests.

The Hartsdale Hellcats, who play better on the road than they do at home, copped both games at Jock Ewing Stadium in South Fork, whipping the Stallions 7-3 in game two... the Colfax Black Sox evened their series with the LaGrange Gators at one win each with a 7-6 victory at The Swamp in LaGrange.

The next three games are set for Mountain View Stadium in Colfax and Pioneer Park in Hartsdale... should they be necessary, the final two games of each series will be played in LaGrange and South Fork.

SOX SMACK GATORS IN RU, STALLIONS SLOW DOWN HELLCATS IN TU
We've got two competitive series in the IPA title series... Colfax is up on the LaGrange Gators two games to one in the Ruthlandian League Championship Series and the Hartsdale Hellcats have the same edge over the South Fork Stallions in the Tycobbian League Championship Series.

The Black Sox topped the Gators 5-1 in game three of the best-of-seven series, while the Stallions slammed the Hellcats 8-2 to get back into that series.

RU, TU TITLE SERIES ALL KNOTTED UP
Four games into the Ruthlandian and Tycobbian Union title series, it's all knotted up... in the Ruthlandian Union LaGrange and Colfax have divided the four games so far... and South Fork and Hartsdale have split their games 2-2 in the Tycobbian Union.
In the latest action in the IPA League Championship Series LaGrange outgunned Colfax 11-9 and South Fork defeated Hartsdale 4-2.

BLACK SOX, PONIES PREVAIL IN PIVOTAL GAME 5
All of the playoff games are important, but a few play bigger roles than others... game 5 in a 7-game affair is sometimes pivotal, especially when the two clubs are tied after the first four contests... it was the Colfax Black Sox and the South Fork Stallions that made the most of game 5... the Black Sox outlasted the LaGrange Gators 7-5 in the RU title series... and in a tense pitcher's duel, the Stallions blanked the Hartsdale Hellcats 2-0 in the TU title clash... now all the two winners need is one more triumph in the next two games to head to the Pro Cup Finals with the vaunted Pro Cup Trophy as the prize... and Colfax and South Fork will be at home for the rest of the series... they are riding high and sitting pretty in the postseason.

RU, TU GOES TO THE 7-GAME MAX
After six games in each series, the Ruthlandian and Tycobbian Unions will got to the max... both series will go seven games... in the RU title series, the LaGrange Gators whipped Colfax 7-5 in game six and tied the series at three games each... and the Hartsdale Hellcats stayed alive with a 3-0 victory over South Force to force a seven and deciding game for the TU title... LaGrange and South Fork will be playing at home in the seventh-game finales.

COLFAX, HARTSDALE COP LEAGUE TITLES, PRO-CUP BOUND
It was survival of the fittest in the Islandian Pro Alliance League Championship Series... both went the full distance -- seven games -- when they were over, the Colfax Black Sox were the champion of the Ruthlandian Union and the Hartsdale Hellcats were the top team in the Tycobbian Union... both of them were victorious in splendidly played seventh games... Colfax pulled out a 7-5 win in 12 innings over the feisty LaGrange Gators... and Hartsdale snatched victory from defeat in subduing the spunky South Fork Stallions 4-3.

Now those two talented teams will be playing for the Islandian Pro Alliance Pro Cup Trophy, emblematic of the best professional baseball team in the Islands... the Colfax Black Sox are seeking their second IPA title... Colfax won its only Pro Cup trophy over five decades ago in 2010... they were the Blasters at that time... unheralded Hartsdale has never won the IPA Pro Cup in its history... both clubs are well-balanced and good all-around... and both are very hungry for the dream of a lifetime -- the revered Pro Cup trophy -- the overall Islandian Pro Alliance title.
