Monday, November 1, 2066 SUPER SKIPPERS WIN AGAIN IN IPA TOP MANAGER POLLS This year in the Islandian Pro Alliance the best managers got even better... Billy Christianson had a record-bustin' season in more ways than one... not only did his Rolling Hills Racers romp to a new IPA record of 111 wins, Christianson nabbed his 5th Tycobbian Union Manager of the Year Award, which is also a new all-time mark... previously he was tied with skipper greats Lorne Evans, Vanya Vasylenko and his own father, Matty Christianson... the 2066 Ruthlandian Union Manager of the Year Award went to Claxton's chief, Abe Shiffman, who was selected for the second time in three years... Christianson took the honor four straight seasons from '61 to '64, an unprecedented achievement... prior to that Alex Groveland's run from 2012, 2013 and 2014 with his Far Mountain Redhawks was the best ever. Both winners this season had their work cut out for them... success breeds the need for even more success... Christianson won the pennant last year with a standout 101-53 record... this season his Racers rolled to 111 victories and won their 7th straight TU West title... what is Christianson going to do for an encore next season?... Rolling Hills will be trying to tie the North Hills Hawks, who won 8 consecutive TU North crowns from '34 to '41... you might say Abe Schiffman had it easier... all he had to do to win the best RU skipper honor was improve from 94-60 to 102-52... Schiffman has a super streak himself with 4 RU South crowns in a row. The runners-up in the IPA top manager poll were Valmara's Don Ritchie and Sligo's Les Patterson in the Ruthlandian Union... Ritchie nurtured his Vipers upward from the fourth spot and 15 games behind in the RU North to the top spot, upping his record from 80-74 to 88-66... Valmara edged out LaGrange by 4 games to garner the pennant... Patterson sparked his Rovers upward from 85-69 and 7 games behind champion Colfax to 88-66 and the RU West flag... Sligo finished 6 games in front of second place Volusia and 8 games ahead of third place Colfax. Christianson really didn't have a lot of competition in the Tycobbian balloting... second plate went to Matt Bell of the San Alejo Montaneros, who went from sixth place and a 73-81 mark to 86-68 and second place in the TU South, winding up just 3 games back of the pennant-winning and powerhouse Southport Sun Sox... the third-best votegetter was Ike Sweetwater of the Red Bluff Red Sox... his club rose up from third place and 13 games behind in the TU East standings with an 81-73 record to the top spot with an 87-67 season mark... the Red Sox outduelled runner-up South Fork by one game for the pennant. |
That's all, y'all!
The 2066 season of the Islandian Pro Alliance is done! It took me almost 3 months of real time to complete it... that's too long... hope I can cut it down to less than a month. Now I got to get ready for the new 2067 season... will take a while to add the new free agents to the rosters... also need to purge the reserve roster of player with no talent. I will try a new approach this season in order to cover the year quicker and not have to work so hard on it... hope you like the condensed version... I want to play 100 seasons before I bid fond adieu to this earthly life. EC is in pretty darn good health for my age...so is my lovely wife... she and I got our first Covid shot today... feel fine so far... hope and pray the Good Lord will bless her and me with a few more years of abundant life. EC's life is good today. Thanks to all of y'all for making my life so good with your great support over the years of the IPA. |

I will continue to isolate, wear a mask and stay away from people until we get herd immunity, hopefully in the fall of this year... hope all of you will, too. We can't get complacent and let down our guard, just because the vaccine is available... we will only be safe when everyone has been vaccinated. |

Monday, November 2, 2066 HALLOWED IPA HALL OF FAME ADDS TWO NEW LEGENDS: ITO AND BUISSON There are now 107 members of the Islandian Pro Alliance Hall of Fame... the lastest additions are Norishige Ito and Lenny Buisson, two of the most outstanding players of the past two decades... Ito starred for the Arroyo Grande Suns and the Midway Wolves from 2047 to 2064 and Buisson excelled for the Belle Plaine Musketeers and the Taranto Tars from 2046 to 2064... Ito and Buisson are the newest members in the IPA Hall of Fame class of 2066. Norishige Ito had a marvelous 18-year-career in the IPA from 2047 to 2064 in the Tycobbian Union, playing with Arroyo Grande for his first 7 seasons and his last 11 with Midway... he was a 5-time Tycobbian Most Valuable Player ('52, '54, '55, '57, '61)... 9-time All-Star... 6-time Gold Bat ('52, '53, '54, '55, '57, '61)... 3-time Gold Glove... Ito was a star outfielder that sparked the Midway Wolves to the dynastic level... from '53 to '61 the Wolves won 6 pennants and two Pro Cups... they almost won three straight Pro Cups... in '55 they reached the TU Finals, but lost to IPA champion White River... Ito hit .313 lifetime with 654 homers (9th IPA all-time), 1853 RBIs (13th IPA all-time) and scored 1769 runs... he retired in 2064 at age 36... still a good hitter, Ito batted .300 that year with 26 home runs and 70 RBIs... he decided to retire before his playing talents fell off to a level that might be embarrassing to him... Ito also did well in the playoffs, batting .321 in 48 games with 10 homers, 39 RBI and 28 runs. Right fielder Lenny Buisson is one of the most prolific powerhitter in IPA history... he wound up third in home runs with 734 all-time... only Jerry Culpepper of Bayview (878 HR) and Jack Elliott of High Mesa (848 HR) finished ahead of him... Buisson drove in 1875 runs, 12th-best in IPA history, and scored 1613 runs, while batting .301 in his 19 seasons (2046-2064), playing his first 8 years in Belle Plaine and his final 11 in Taranto in the Ruthlandian Union... Buisson won his only RU Most Valuable Player trophy in 2048... he was a 4-time Golden Bat winner ('48, '52, '53, '57)... 6-time All-Star... Golden Glove winner... and was chosen the Ruthlandian Union Rookie of the Year in 2047... Buisson got to the postseason twice and excelled both times with a .348 BA in 22 games with 10 homers and 17 RBIs... the Tars advanced to the RU Finals both years in 2054 and 2056...they were defeated by IPA Pro Cup champion Wynnamac in '56... Buisson went out in style with 34 roundtrippers and 95 RBIs his last season at age 38 with a .276 BA. |

i'm glad you are still able to keep this dynasty going. It is an inspiration to me. And i'm glad you're still enjoying it. That fact comes through in your writing. Onward to the 100 year celebration!!!:eatpop: |

And thanks for publicizing the IPA with your signature... "a fan of the Islandian Pro Alliance". Keep you and your family safe, my friend. Don't let up your guard down even after you get the vaccine... wear a mask... keep social distancing... and don't mix with crowds... and stay isolated as much as possible. We don't know how long the vaccine will protect us... and we don't know if we can still infect people even though we have had the shots... lots of unknowns. I trust Dr. Fauci and the scientists. |
Working on creation of new rookie free agents... completed 10 teams today... revised the rosters... purged the reserve roster of unproductive players... should finish in a week or so... and season 2067 will begin for the IPA.
54 rosters to revise. |

As always, I greatly appreciate the work you've done on this dynasty for so long and made it into the best one on this board. Let's hope the Cats and the Ninjas can win a Pro Cup before season 100 :) |

Hope you can get the vaccine soon... stay safe... keep your distance... wear your mask... and stay away from crowds. Yep, I hope the Kilkenny Cats can win a Pro Cup soon... there are about 30 franchises that have never won it... I really like it when one of the perennial losers make a run in the playoffs... the Ginza Ninjas have already won the Pro Cup and almost won a second one... those were very exciting playoffs when the Karate Kids were on their run a few seasons ago. Thanks again for following the IPA and giving me some feedback... much appreciate you. Didn't do any work on the IPA today... it is my 50th wedding anniversary... I spent it with the love of my life - my adorable wife.
We had a wonderful day... had lunch at Ruth's Chris Steak House... enjoyed a wonderful meal served to perfection... finished off this evening with chocolate doberge cake from Gambino's Bakery, topped with Blue Belle Homemade Vanilla ice cream... that's my wife's favorite cake... for many years when she was growing up in New Orleans, her family had a tradition of chocolate doberge cake from the original Gambino's in New Orleans on any family member's birthday... she and I have continued that tradition... I always got her a chocolate doberge cake on her birthday and for our anniversary. Life is good today... life is good today. (from Zac Brown Band's song "Toes") |

Just noticed you are a fan of Dale Murphy... yep, I think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame... he was my wife's granddaddy's favorite ballplayer... he was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves... Hunter Wesley Vaughn was one of the nicest people I ever met... he was a humble and dedicated deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. |
