So close..... but 2nd place is still pretty good for the Syrups Iron tier tourney squad in the Daily Early Iron

There must be something in the water in Annandale. My offense isn't that good, but for the second time this year we scored more than 20 runs!

I still have no power from the tropical storm that ran through New York yesterday so no update from me this morning

Southpaws Separate Themselves in OL G326
4 Attachment(s)
Cary appears headed to a dominant run in the crown chase. It would seem to be Asylum's task to keep them in check, but the Keepers schedule shows a total of around 20 games left, so they can ill afford the least stumble. Weston Pointe is within sight, but also sports a losing record (3-4) versus the front runners. If your favorite has yet to swing into full action, don't despair. I double checked the schedules and no team will play less than 20 OL games.

No OL games in Silver yesterday, so standings remain the same
|
Man, I do not know what’s happening to Brigadoon. For the past eight weeks or so they bounced around gold and diamond. But now in gold they’re doing so poorly that they probably will be relegated to silver. Granted, maybe it’s just a bad week for everyone but it makes me wonder that I’ve stood still well the other teams have gotten better. Which is crazy because that’s the team that opened a lot of packs from tournaments and that I am actively working on. Maybe the less I work in a team the better does?
Just musing here. |

I hope I'm doing this right. Just started a team on Monday,
Iron Maiden Wasted Years reporting in, currently in entry pool. I imagine after this week, I'll be thrown into a league among the friend list. See attachment. |
Quote:
The first week you will be in Entry Pool/Rookie Level. Next, you go to the Stone Level. If you get promoted, you will next go to the Iron Level, and so on. As for being matched up with "Friends", that is the master plan however, every once in a while PT21 will not automatically group all friends together. This has occurred for no rhyme or reason, from time to time. At some point you will get into a level with other OL teams. ;) |
Championship Hangovers??
Who believes in championship hangovers?
Hooterville is sure seeing a really good one. Currently the Haymakers are the bottom feeder in their whole Silver 268 league sporting a 16-43 record. On the offensive side, we currently rank 25th in runs, 25 in AVG, and tied for 13th in HR's. On the defensive side, we currently rank 30th in ERA, 23rd in K's, and 30th in defensive efficiency. Is there a OL crown for all of this? :o  :crying: Needless to say, this is one of those "put the team on autopilot" weeks! |

Silver league update:
Hartford and Waffletown share the lead heading into July. |
Putting this out there for OL squads...If you have future legends, cash'em in while you still can. Collection dropped where if you collect X amount of hitters, you get a 100 Fred Lynn, who is very playable vs RHP, and if you collect X amount of pitchers, you get a 100 Dwight Gooden who is comparable to 100 Nolan Ryan.
Lynn's price is very attainable for OL teams if you save up (think around 30-40k), while Gooden's may be a bit further out, but still reachable if you know what you're doing (70-80k). |

Kansas holds a two game lead on Hidden Valley while Coney Island goes 1-10 in OL play yesterday (6-21 overall in July)
In PT play Kansas holds a 3.5 game lead on Hidden Valley in the NC East. The Bombers are 1.5 out in the WC. Shinebone at 3.5 and Highland at 4 back are in a seven team battle for the last WC spot. Coney Island has to revert to the form they showed in May to avoid relegation. |

Palolo ripped off an 8-0 month in OL and went from quiet sideline observer to league leader. Cary continued its solid play with Weston Pointe also staying within reach of the top spot.

Silver league update:
Hartford makes the most of their July OL games to take sole possession of the lead (Norwood technically in the lead, but won't play enough games to qualify for the crown). Overall, Hartford and Waffletown share the AC West division lead heading into the dog days of summer. Blitzkrieg and Hooterville currently sit buried in relegation territory; while Norwood is precariously perched just outside that zone. |
Bluffton and Left Coast can be removed from the league. I have pretty much abandoned them and you might as well make room for others on friends lists. I will log in and remove the -ol and + from team names and abbreviations.
|
I may not get to standings tomorrow as my work load has doubled with people on vacation-when I do bronze final (or tomorrow time permitting) should I keep Left Coast and Bluffton until the end of this week?
|
Quote:
If the designations get removed, I would say, save yourself the work and just drop them. It's kind of a pain to read the team vs. team with no identifying marks. |
Quote:
I was pretty challenged in both Bronze and Diamond today. In Bronze we have the old time black bears with an -OL after its name that isn't in OL and my standings were off when I first compiled them and then in Diamond, and I should be used to this having done diamond before as this isn't the first time they have been mixed in with our league-there is a second Highland team and I counted the wrong one. I blame that on trying to crank it out before work this morning. |

daily iron tourney squad..... the headline of "needs extras" is a bit of an understatement.... here's hoping the starter in the next game can pitch a complete game cause no one is left in the bullpen

Silver league update:
Hartford remains in the driver's seat heading into the final month. Overall, Waffletown put a small bit of distance between themselves and the rest of the division for the stretch run. Hartford faded a bit in the August heat, but is only 3.5 games out of a wild card spot. Norwood has a 6 game cushion to remain outside the relegation zone; while Blitzkrieg and Hooterville remain a solid fixture in the foundation. |
Puppies Still Command Top Spot in OL G326
4 Attachment(s)
Palolo remains in front in the chase for the crown, but with only four OL games remaining, a stumble could prove costly. Of course, that lone series is with the moribund Mundys, so the Puppies are definitely favorites. Both Cary and Weston Pointe have at least 15 OL games left, so either could make a strong late run. Asylum has no OL games remaining and only a collapse by the other top three would allow them to leap frog to the top.
|
Stanley, you forgot to mention that Brigadoon ONLY plays OL games this month and if I win all of them I could be a contender!

Pack Lack
55 packs ripped, yielding one live diamond, 3 live gold, 4 live silver, 2 OL silver. After quick selling the lives, I put the doubles into the AH. There were a fair amount of OL bronze and iron, enough to make me guess that, in the end, the PP will total about 10-12 K. Not so lucky, I'm thinking.
The coffee was tasty, and I did have a jelly donut as well.:p |
Quote:
pack luck in Waffletown has been rather dismal.... pulling in the random live gold here and there... sitting on all the duplicate 59/69/79 live cards for now until the live update on the 10th in the hopes that some of them get that bump up to the next tier and I can sell 'em for a bit more... but barring some major tourney and/or pack luck, my bunch will be standing pat for awhile as I spent the majority of my war chest last night on Matt Kilroy (all but 3 pitchers for the Syrups are now pre-1900) |

So, in frustration, I used their last 3000 PP to purchase 3 packs...and lo and behold...this happened. |
Dragones back to Rookie
Well, any arrogance we were carrying from our Rookie Championship last week is gone. Ciudad Trujillo Dragones will be back in Rookie again next week after our pitching just wasn't up to snuff. I have friended the two Yardgoat - OL franchises that could possibly end up in Rookie.

That has happened to me in the past. Next time you're playing PT and your graphics are correct, click on "profiles & settings." On the far right at the top you'll see "troubleshooting." Click on that and you'll get a drop down that includes the screen I've attached. Click on "upload team graphics," and that should put them onto the server for PT. You may have to do it more than once, but it usually takes eventually. I always hit submit team again after I've done it, but I don't think it's necessary. It's just that the program is so finicky I've gotten into the habit of doing everything at least twice. |

Hey Edster!
Thanks for doing the double duty despite your busy work week. With the Warriors going to gold, you'll be off the hook there, as I'll grab it again. With my Rustlers heading to silver, I'll also take that on if no one else can.

Cary Claims Crown as Port Ruppert Paddles Puppies

The Southpaws, who led most of the way, reclaimed the top spot in the end and will don the gold crown. Palolo faltered badly against the also-ran Ruppert Mundys, dropping four straight and spoiling their late charge to the top.
OL seems well represented in the PT playoffs, and the relegations are attached. |

Silver league final standings:
While Norwood made the most of their OL games, they unfortunately fell 3 games short of the 10 game requirement. Hartford takes the crown by taking care of business down the stretch (taking 4 of 6 from Waffletown). Overall, Waffletown backed into the division title with an ugly 13-16 final months of Sep/Oct, and managed to sit atop with a slim 1 game lead. When game 162 finished, Hartford sat at 87-75, and in a three-way tie for the final wild card game with Alto Marie Latios and Abington GreenWave. I'm not sure how that three-way tie breaker is setup (it's not a round-robin, everyone plays everyone style), but Hartford won their game against Alto Marie, then went on to face Abington, but lost that game; so Abington advances to the wild card. Norwood had a nice turnaround, going from barely above the relegation zone, to just missing the wild card by a single game. And in the foundation of the league, Hooterville and Blitzkrieg will be relegated back to Bronze. Waffletown will be the lone playoff representative from OL. |

The Wrap Up

Congrats on another fine season. Let's see if we can't be a little more diligent in getting the newer teams friended. We missed out on a chance for an iron crown.
Good luck to those in the playoffs. I'll try to get a handle on any successes for OL members, but it's always great when people post results. |
Otonokizaka lost in the wildcard and will stay in Iron with Cochise County and Daytona Beach. Records for the week below.

Silver league playoffs:
Waffletown goes the distance with Texas and emerged victorious 3 games to 2 to head to the LCS Waffletown will move up to Gold tier next season (and probably move back down the next :p) |
In Diamond Kansas fell in the in Division series. In Bronze K-Town is up 2-0 (and is now 5-0 in the playoffs) in the Sub League Series.
So as a reminder: in Bronze K-Town will be moving up while Asheboro and Transylvania will be going down. In Diamond: Coney Island is dropping down and nobody is moving up to the slaughterhouse known as perfect league. |
OL World Series

Silver league playoffs:
Waffletown drags out the drama again, taking the LCS to the full 7 games; and most recently acquired Matt Kilroy earns his keep by pitching a complete game shutout to secure the Syrups ticket to the Silver league World Series. (side note: I really really really hope that in v22 they do something different with the Live mission rewards, cause these cookie cutter teams are getting mind-numbingly dull to face..... my WS opponent has 23 of 26 players being SE Live rewards.... and seeing 25 Ichirios/Bagwells/Madduxes/Johnsons/Carltons/Blylevens/etc in the league just sucks any interest/fun out of things... at least to me... if it's like this again next year, not sure I'll even bother with PT) |
