Silver playoff update:

Waffletown dropped the first two games at home to dig themselves an 0-2 hole; but turned things around from there to run off 4 straight wins to secure their second World Series championship. Huzzah!

Quick question, if I'm reading the first post right, can we play with SE cards like Jeff Bagwell, and Randy Johnson? If so, I'll contemplate spending points on completing a live collection or two to get some of the SE cards.

Yes, you can.

My friends list had no league numbers that clashed. It covers all teams from diamond down through 3 iron teams. I've attached the league lineups for silver and gold. In silver, unless something changes in the schedule (which sometimes happens), Ring Road will have exactly 10 games. In gold, every team will be 20+ OL games. Hope we got all the new guys in. Good luck to all. Guess I should have snipped more of the standings. The first is G305. The second S284.

Charlatan 08-10-2020 06:44 AM

FYI Vanden, completing the live collections is a money maker (or it was until very recently... I last did it 4 weeks ago) since you get some pretty high value cards for the division and league completion bonus missions. So even if there are SE cards you don't want to play it might be worth completing the missions and selling the reward cards.

Brigadoon sold the 100 OVR Ripken yesterday to get better pitching (and he won the Gold Glove at 1B post sale!). As if to replace him, we got another incredible pull this morning as I was opening tourney packs.

Bronze setup

1 Attachment(s)
Given there are only six teams can't really complain about the setup. Two teams in each of three divisions-as long as when the real schedule comes out after the first sim the two teams in the AC west get some inter league games in with at least two of the four teams in the NC.

I will handle Bronze-may not be able to post Thursday but otherwise should be good.

I'm guessing the yardgoats triumvirate decided not to join afterall, as they seem to always be the odd ones out (even their two stone teams are in different leagues, so if they actually friended themselves and the other teams, they would at least be in the same one)... and I haven't seen any posts from them for quite awhile.

wish those tourneys paid out achievements.... Joe Kelly pitches a no-hitter for the Waffletown Iron tourney squad!

side note: don't forget the Live cards updated their stats/ratings today, so if you have Iron/Bronze/etc tourney squads with any Live cards on them, you'll want to verify they are still intact.... had to bring in a couple new pitchers to my Iron tourney squad since two members moved out of range.

Hooterville Press Release

With the start of the 2040 season, Hooterville PR department has announced that the team is sporting a uniform design change which may not be too noticeable to the casual fan

Hooterville's uniforms will now sport a zippered league logo, instead of the more traditional sewn-on patch due to the team being bounced around like a ping pong, back and forth between the Bronze Level and the Silver Level almost every year.

The new uniform alteration is calculated to save the team alot of money as it is believed that they will not be required to maintain a full staff of team seamstresses.

Thanks Again PT (not)

In checking the silver, Ring Road's schedule was changed and they lost a series against Norwood, so they now have only 7 OL games, and will be on the sidelines for the crown. There are a lot of aggravating things about this game. If not for Our League, I'd not play it at all.

I am getting more and more "motivated" to going back to creating and playing out my fictional league games, and retiring from PT permanently.

All I can say is I am totally glad I don't waste real money on buying PP!

I just don't look at the schedules before the 10am sim to avoid the angst. For Bronze we did OK, aided by the fact that the teams were paired off in divisions so they all started with a minimum of 19 games.

The teams is the AC West, Jefferson Valley and Sierra Vista have 29 and 26 games respectively

The NC Central Teams Ft. Huachuca and Vlora 31 and 32 games

The NC West Blitzkrieg and Hooterville with 41 each.

Total of 100 games, we do get off to slow start so tomorrows update will be pretty basic.

Hey Jason, I hate to burst your bubble this early into the new season however, there is no number one draft choice slot when finishing dead last in your whole league, as Hooterville found out the hard way last season. We finished with a 48-114 record.

Bet you can't beat that one! ;)

Also, it may be worth it to check and make sure that your equipment manger isn't having your team's uniforms cleaned at the same place that Hooterville has been going to for years, at the "All Washed Up" Laundromat"?

If so, then there maybe something bad in the soap!

I'm a glass is half full guy, keep rolling (even if its down hill fast) the achievement for the losing streak will probably earn you 500 pp. Think of all the things you can do with that :)

only got a measly 250 points for breaking the streak

edit: you know it's gonna be a craptacular season when Cap Anson is batting .182 (c'mon! he has no batting rating below 92, and he's batting under the Uecker line? He's Cap Freakin' Anson!)

When I have time to play, I turn to my FM6 league which has been running more than 20 seasons. This year they've made it possible to use historical players in a fictional league, so I have mix of real and made up teams.

I like it because I go through the seasons slowly, game by game. They've also released an extra update to allow for the current playoff system, with current rosters, even though they've turned to working on FHM7.

I believe it's also on sale now for $9.99 for this week. It's a great game, if you like hockey, with a game engine that seems much more responsive to the player's input.

I've been on the fence for al long time about FHM.

I am also very surprised that FHM does not have PT yet.

As we hit the halfway point in the season Vlora, off a sweep of Ft. Huachuca yesterday has jumped into the top spot over the idle Rebels.

In PT play there is a log jam in both leagues in the WC races. In the AC there are seven teams separated by 3.5 games and in the NC there are eight teams within 3.5 games.

Jefferson Valley who had led their division played .500 ball in June to drop into second place in the AC West and trail by 3.5 with Sierra Vista 3.5 behind the Rebels. The teams still have 13 games to play against each other with the first three after the AS break today.

In the NC OL teams will have their hands full challenging for a division. The Haymakers are the closest at 14 games out in the West but only 2 back in the WC race. Blitzkrieg is 3.5 back in the WC while Vlora is 6 off the pace. A lot of teams to pass but with a half a season to go one good month can throw one of those teams into the mix.

Ft. Huachuca is currently in the relegation zone. The league has some parity this week as Vlora who is only 6 out in the WC is right on the edge of relegation while Blitzkrieg is 2 games clear of the drop but is only 3.5 off the WC.

We have what shaping is up to be a good race for the crown this week. Jefferson Valley and Vlora are in a tie for the top spot with Hooterville and Blitzkrieg right on their heels.

In PT play Jefferson Valley and Hooterville are holding down WC spots and Sierra Vista and Blitzkrieg are within striking distance.

Ft. Huachuca and Vlora are in danger of being relegated.

Jefferson Valley went 4-1 yesterday to take their place on top of the OL leader board. The remaining games today for all teams are with the OL team in their division.

In PT play Jefferson Valley has slipped to the second wildcard in the AC. In the NC Blitzkrieg is one game out in the wildcard with Hooterville 2.5 back.

Ft Huachuca remains in the relegation zone.

Syrups on a "hot" streak to start the final month.... just swept the team sitting in the second wild card spot (and with Weston Pointe on a 10 game winning streak, they are only a half game back of them now), and with those three wins, Waffletown now has 49 wins for the year.... so I've failed the worst record challenge....
