My personal belief, backed up with a little bit of experience in both colorization and photo pack management, is that larger, clearer images in the original, correct aspect ratio are both easier to colorize and more suitable for use in photo packs. Color photos, which require no additional colorization effort, are even better. When a forum member offers this sort of upgrade, that looks like real help to me.

You certainly are not required to take any particular photo but I find it interesting that you specifically cite cut-off ears as a reason. Ears provide a key unique identifier and as such, play a significant role in player recognition. One of my primary criteria for a player image is full view of the player's ear(s). If an image I shared included a cut-off ear, that is because there was no wider crop available. Incidentally, no images from my post above, nor other posts of mine in this thread match your claim.

You are definitely not shy. :)
Because this is, as you stated, a public project and you share the end result, anyone who sees or downloads krantzbucks' work has some at least minimally-vested interest in viewing or obtaining the best colorized image possible. Especially when considering the amount of work that goes into a colorization, it makes sense that an improved source image be used, if available. If someone offers help, it is quite likely that their image would produce a finer colorization. In the end, everyone wins when a great source photo is colorized by a talented colorizer.
If you really do not want others to have any input into the image provision process, perhaps the colorization effort would be best handled off-forum. Posting an image here is an implicit invitation for others to check their collection to see if a more suitable image is available.

Because your control statement was ambiguous, I will address it two ways:
If you are speaking about
you controlling what is shared here, I suggest providing quantifiable guidelines for what you consider to be a good source photo. That will increase the chances that shared images will match your preferences. It may also result in additional images being shared that, in time, become great colorizations.
If you are speaking about
moderator control, let me be clear: I am only interested in maintaining a positive tone and overall civility on the forum. Any forum rules and guidelines, in the end, relate to those end goals. Most notably berating and bullying other users is not suitable for this forum and will not be tolerated. When board interactions are civil and collegial, everyone has a better experience.
