Here's a fellow who pitched FIFTEEN no-hitters in high school. His team was Griffin High School in Springfield, Illinois. He was a non-roster invitee with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1968. He spent ten seasons in the minors, with a 2.91 ERA.

Minor league catcher of the '60s and non-roster invitee to the 1964 White Sox camp, so of course, photographed by Topps.
His son Bret was far more successful - 1988 US Olympian, six years in the majors, and (for awhile) husband of the former NFL "Weathercaster" Jillian. |

This is a horrible low-resolution image from the early stages of the Topps Vault - anybody seen a cleaner version?
Katawczik was one of the last players chosen by the Padres in the 1968 N.L. Expansion (from Cincinnati) and never reached the majors - but he did get to their camp. |

If it helps (and I'm sure it doesn't), here's the same image adjusted for color and brightness.

HOF Executive Pat Gillick was a minor league pitcher from 1959 through 1963. He won 42 games and lost 32, with a 3.42 ERA. Not a bad record. He appeared in the 1962 Orioles' spring camp as a non-roster invitee. I've not been able to find a photo of him in a minor league uniform, but here's one of him earlier in his Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, CA) apparel.
