you can get a program to slow down modern pc's just for this reason. you can still play those old dos games... not only that there are repositories of them all over the place - "abandon ware"?

if it runs too fast, you just need to find an app to hamstring your cpu... limits the program to .1% utilization or something etc etc.. it works for as far back as c64 games, so it will work for old dos programs too...

Dosbox runs most of these games quite easily. GOG (if your not familiar GOG is like Steam for old games) uses Dosbox to emulate older systems. Even outside of GOG all it takes on Dosbox is one button press to slow doesn't your PCs speed to where the games work.
