There may be some bad blood brewing between the Blue Jays and the Angels. In the 9th inning, leading 7-1, Roy Hosley got on base and promptly stole 2nd. Then he stole 3rd. Then Carney Lansford wore a Rafael Perez pitch in the ribs. Both benches were warned but nothing came from it. The score held. Sam Wilson homered for the only Toronto run. Today the Blue Jays comeback fell jus short as they lost 7-6 to the Angels. Junior Felix went 4 for 4. Spike Owen, Mike Marshall, and Paul Molitor all homered. To say that Orel Hershiser has not been the pitcher they were expecting is an understatement. Ed Vande Berg left the game with elbow pain. We await diagnosis. He might, and the emphasis is on 'might', be ready for Opening Day, 1990. Jim Acker is called up from AAA and is being installed as closer. Michael Klinger is better suited as a set-up man. |
