Did you ever explain who the awards are named after?

Quote:
Frank Grant George Stovey Bud Fowler Sol White Obviously, the "Fleet" and "Weldy" the conferences are named after refer to the Walker brothers, as does Walker House, the EL's HoF. In the AAA Transit League, the Catto Conference is named after Octavius Catto but I can't for the life of me recall who "Francis" is. |
1987 EL Free-Agent Class / Rookie Draft
Another unbelievably strong Draft and rookie FA class this year, hopefully it translates into some bonkers division races over oncoming seasons akin to the one we saw in the WCN in the season just past.
Cat A NeLers for 1987 are draftees Willard Brown, Silvio Garcia, Bill Pettus and mighty Marvin Williams along with FAs Turkey Stearnes and Dick Lundy. The biggest MLB name by far entering the league this year is the great Willie Mays, who'll be in the Draft alongside guys including Jose Canseco, Don Buford, Prince Fielder and Eddie Murray. Dave Winfield heads the FA entrants. The Giants use their 1st overall pick on Willard, with Willie going second to the Monarchs. Rounds 1 and 2 in full: |
