There is no labatt.obj file anywhere.. So when I go into the game to load it in, it doesn't appear.. I've followed those steps and nothing.. I have the latest updated Mac software, so not sure why it doesn't work

Would you kill me if I told you that circa 1965 and through the late 60s, the Astrodome had an all dirt infield?

First, obviously when there was real grass:

Then, when they first installed the new synthetic turf:

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe they didn't switch to sliding pits until the early 70s.

Looks great none the less though!

I don't use a mac but I would think the files are same as in windows. Here is a picture of what is in the Labat park folder. If you are not seeing this, I don't know what you are looking at. Please post of picture of the files in your labat folder.

I actually just solved it. I needed to download Winzip so I could unzip the files.. thanks for all your assistance though. Love the parks

This is awesome!

And, yes, the Dome had a traditional dirt infield from 1965-1972, including grass in 1965 and part of '66, but I am starting a 1971 Astros dynasty, and this Dome will be great for it! I can't thank you enough!

Actually, if you want to be REALLY accurate, in '66 the Astrodome had an all dirt outfield as well up until the Allstar break - painted green! The infield had Chemgrass, but there wasn't enough time/materials to finish the outfield.

The players would have been better served if they kept the entire field dirt, considering playing AstroTurf was like playing on green concrete!

(Remember those days? When half the NL times had AstroTurf? Then there was Royals stadium. I remember watching those big, slow Red Sox teams having their season die in Kansas City with that annual four game sweep in August.)

So is this dead? No more stadiums? I've got a few I need...

Wouldn't say its dead, but I'm taking a break. My wife wants me back for a while

I'll see what I can do... I've modeled in SketchUp before.

I could really use this park, or your interpretation of it.

Is she done with you yet? 10 days should be enough for the bloom to have worn off by now, I presume.

Because, looking around, I have determined that I go with whatever Silvam has for historical 3D ballparks. ;)

REASONS:
  • His ballpark folders are ready for easy transfer to \Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\ballparks\models. One folder per ballpark, all files in folder. He doesn't leave the .mtl/.obj/.ootp3d files outside the folder to get lost in the models folder.
  • He provides a .jpg picture of the finished ballpark so that you can quickly choose whether to use it or not.
  • His ballparks are maximized for field play, as they should be. The object is not to show the entire stadium including surrounding grounds and buildings, in my opinion. Just show enough of the stadium itself for distinction and ambiance.
  • He does not clutter his stadiums with backgrounds and 3D crowds which frankly look a bit bizarre to these eyes at times.
I appreciate the work of the other guys and thank them for it. I don't wish to appear ungrateful to them. I intend this to be positive feedback for all 3D ballpark modders.

Nice post, Bru. silvam's great. He's made an immeasurable difference in the forums and this community, going back a l o n g way. I'm equally certain his wife could put together a similar list as to how she benefits from having him away from here.

Thanks guys. I'm glad you like the stadiums so much. I really enjoy making them, but I've been a little burned out. Need to recharge, do other things for a bit. You know?

By the way, you captured the essence of League Park. I've been using that one for a while, but I wondered at the proportions. I finally looked it up today:
Quote:

The ballpark was shoehorned to fit into the Cleveland street grid, which contorted the dimensions into a rather odd rectangular shape by modern standards. The fence in left field was 385 feet (117 m), a tremendous 460 feet (140 m) away in center, and a short 290 feet (88 m) down the right field foul line. However, batters had to hit the ball over a 40-foot (12 m) fence to get a home run (by comparison, the Green Monster at Fenway Park is 37 feet (11 m) high).
Yep.

Bigdummie 06-24-2017 09:01 PM

If I go to the original post started on 4-19-2014 and download the historical stadiums, is this the current file? Thanks for any advice.

Any ballpark you make now is pretty much all gravy. You've set us up pretty well.

Enjoy your break. Spend time with the fam! Or play OOTP or whatever.
