These are fantastic, Silvam. As a historical player, I would love to have all of the post WWII stadiums. It's a dream, Silvam, that only you seem to know how to acheive. I know it's a lot of work, but please continue! What can any of us who really don't know much about creating these stadiums do to help?:D:D:D:D

Heck, If I were you Silvam, I'd crank out one of those AstroTurf, cookie cutter stadiums. Like the Vet, or Three River, etc.

One Cookie cutter stadium 3D model = up to four historical stadiums! Or just call it "Three Riverfront Veterbusch" stadium. Then, put a dome on it and you have the Astrodome! Add natural grass and you have RFK!

You could kill six birds with one stone! Just a thought...

The amount of time it takes to create these from scratch is daunting. The is going to be slow with one person sorry to say. I'm looking to get as many existing models in the 3D warehouse to use to save time. I found an astrodome one from 1965 which I think I will use but it will need some work.
We will see how it goes

Daunting indeed. Two years ago, when you first started making these beauties, I was inspired to pitch in. I happened to get laid off around that time, and was going to try to learn how to make a few, starting with Baker Bowl, as I had an early Phillies game going at the time. To make a long story short, I probably put 60 hours in, and basically had what amounted to a greenish parallelogram with some upright toilet paper tubes sticking up here and there. I never quite got the hang of it at all, then found new work, and set it all aside.

This is important enough that I would like to try again, but would seriously need to take a 3D modeling class at the local community college to do so, I'm sure. There is one starting at the end of June, and I think I might see if I can swing it . .

In the mean time, sincere thanks for all the work!

I don't think you need to take a course in 3D modelling to get the hang of what I am doing. Getting started is pretty simple.

This site here has fantastic information on almost every stadium ever used in the majors


Clem's Baseball ~ Stadium lists

It has historic configurations and also shows the profile of the stands which is useful when creating them in sketchup.

For example, When I built Shibe and Seals Stadium, In sketchup, I would take the stadium image found at this site and import it into sketchup and use it on the floor. Then I would align the image so that home plate was the origin of the axes, and the foul lines were the green and red axes. Then you just draw a line from home plate down one of the foul lines to the correct distance as shown. there you can enlarge, shrink the image to match up with that distance and you now have a scaled image to start building your outfield walls and other nooks and crannys.

This helped me immensely and can really get you started quickly. The stadium profiles are wonderful as well as you can basically trace those and use the follow-me tool to create most of the stands.

Maybe you can answer a question too? Is it possible to change the BACKGROUND for every ballpark individually or does the game always use the "misc" pictures depending on day time?

Just asking because no matter how cool the stadiums look they´re always floating in the sky.
