Please Post Logos
Especially if you're in OL R92. That appears to be the only league with enough competitors to award a crown. If you posted your logo last year, or if you won any color crown and have not changed your logo, then no need to upload because I have it already.
If you're using a game generated logo and I have to snip it from the game, I will do the best I can, but it'll probably be fuzzy. That also applies if I have to snip yours from the game. If you want help or a suggested logo, there are people willing to help. I have fun making them, so might make one just for grins. Whether you use it or not, no offense will be taken for your rejection. If I get something close and you have tweaks in mind, speak up. If you just have an idea in mind, post it and I'm sure someone will take a whack. Please do it soon, while the world is on hiatus. When things get back to a more normal schedule, I will have less time, but will keep up the crowns, at least. Thanks. |

UP TO THE MINUTE ST160 STANDINGS Otonokizaka: 7-3 (.700) Transylvania: 3-3 (.500) Krikkit: 4-5 (.444) Daytona Beach: 2-5 (.285) These are effectively the final ST160 standings as there are no remaining OL games left to be played. Otonokizaka the only OL team here in contention for a playoff spot. They, along with the not yet compliant Terra Incognita Rustlers are pushing for promotion. |

Palolo Grabs Slim Lead In Our League R92
2 Attachment(s)
A new day, a new leader. The first red crown chase will be hotly contested, as the Puppies took their turn in the catbird seat and lead a half-dozen viable contenders by the slimmest of margins.
I've posted the wild card standings for the whole of R92. I forget most days because, to be honest, they don't much interest me. All the PT standings mean to me is a chance to grab some PP to improve my squad in OL Port Ruppert Report: Given their mediocre status, I thought I might wait until tomorrow to make some move toward improvement. However, since the Mundys are close enough to grab the 1,000 PP for the playoffs, they invested some 8700 PP in catcher Jim Sundberg, pitcher Pat Jarvis, and Dave Winfield in order to strengthen their run. In the race that matters, it's wait until next year, again. |
The one thing about working remotely is I have paid more attention to my team on an hourly basis. Coming into the week I was hoping to win about 85 games and I'm currently 73-60 and I'm more pissed off about the missed opportunities to win games then the fact that I'm ahead of my projection.
23-27 in one run games, Ed Figueroa is 0-2 (team is 0-5) is his last 5 starts even though he has only given up 7 runs on 24 hits in 36 innings. He gave up 3 runs in 6 IP in the first of his last 5 but the bullpen blew 3 saves in the remaining 4 games and we lost them all by one run. But I'm ahead of my own projection so I'm supposed to be happy right? |
At 51-85, there is a very really possibility that Krikkit will be relegated to Rookie League. There are 6 teams with wins between 51 and 54, and three of those are going down. At 38-99, Daytona Beach Tortugas are almost a lock for relegation.
How are current Rookie teams doing? Will there be any still there or is everyone moving up? |
Quote:
nah, right now there are 9 of us below the promotion line, so should be plenty remaining at the rookie tier.... hoping my bunch stays put... they still need some seasoning at the bottom  |
Just for fun...
I decided to see what kind of compliant roster I could make up for the Asylum Keepers. Given the fact that it's just from starter and pulls, a pretty damned good one, I think. There's a diamond and a gold from the starters, plus another diamond, three other golds, and seven silvers from pulls. Harold Baines was the one card I did grab because I had a bunch of the cards needed and spent less than 500 to complete it.
Since we're on lockdown until the end of April, at least, I figured now would be when I'd have the most time and attention to get the Keepers rolling. In fact, as soon as they're either in or out of the playoffs in their current league, I'm gonna pop the lineup in, just for fun. I guess tonight I'll be selling off the embarrassment of riches I detailed back a few pages. Only gonna sell the perfect, the diamonds, and the golds, the bronzes and the irons. Gonna save the silvers in case I keep entering tourneys going forward. I've been letting Asylum enter multiple types, but after the card purge, they'll only enter silver. Terra Incognita already enters only bronze, and Port Ruppert only iron. I already purged Port Ruppert of all the lives except the irons. Rustlers will keep only their bronze. What I need to do is take a half hour per team and figure out the best lineup I can make for each and get rid of the live cards that don't make the cut. So.... Please add Kid_Heckett and the Asylum Keepers to your friends list. The Rustlers will be in for sure the week after next. |
Invalid Position for Player
Has anyone besides me come across a PT player who can only be assigned to the starting position or backup position that they have a stock rating for?
I have had a few who had this issue. 99% of my other position players can easily be assigned to play another position with no issues at all. Any idea why there is this issue as I never saw this occur in PT19 or PT20? Thanks |
I believe it is the result of tweaking the engine because the training last year was fairly unrealistic. I believe I saw a comment by one of the developers to the effect they are monitoring it and will swing back if they feel they've gone too far.
I'd like to be able to train Eli Marrero at catcher. He began his career as a highly touted catching prospect. He was agile, skilled with a strong arm. Of course the reason he ended up back in the minors were the injuries that made him unable to catch anymore. Big props to him for coming back from the brink after quite a few years. His card's not half bad either. |
Ah, well...
Just checked in and it appears there was no urgency for the Port Ruppert Mundys whirlwind of signings to bolster a play off run in PT. Hurler Pat Jarvis has been stellar and Jim Sundberg has solidified the catching. The big ticket signing of Dave Winfield has been a disappointment, as he has slumped badly out of the gate.
The Mundy have a three-game series coming up against their OL rivals the Southpaws, the team Port Ruppert is trying to catch. |
For those who don't already know, OOTP21 update version 21.2.39 was released yesterday.

Friends List Updated
Finally remembered to send edit request and to actually go back and do it. Now added:
Asylum Keepers - Kid_Heckett |
Transylvania will go up to Iron at 80-82, and Otonokizaka will join them after some game 162 magic to finish 15th overall at 78-84.
Daytona Beach and Krikkit have been relegated to Rookie. |
Well, The Daytona Tortugas were way at the bottom of the pile in the Stone 160 League with a dismal 49-113 record. The saving grace was that going into the last month I was on pace to break the 1962 Mets record of 120 losses.. Late power surge from Cecil Fielder helped avoid this... So the retooling begins.. My goal is to win a Championship within 4 seasons.. Certainly have plenty of time on my hands!

Coney Island managed to capture the first ever Rookie level crown in Our League, jockeying back and forth with Palolo and Anandale throughout the final weeks of the season. The team will be awarded their hardware at Astroland, and begin their victory parade immediately following.
I've attached the promotion and relegation details as well. |

Actually took it a step further, especially in light of how I chased a certain collection. I removed all temptation by selling off all the lives from from Port Ruppert except the iron, and all except the silver for Asylum. When Terra Incognita joins the fold next week, they'll only retain live bronze. I also will be deactivating the OL cards above 40, as soon as I have Asylum ready to go. It just makes it cleaner to look at and helps my tired brain. I will again keep the three rosters unique. So far the only conflict was Asylum having to sell a gold Bronson Arroyo, who already is on the Mundys staff. I've attached a line score of the Asylum Keepers last non-compliant game. Not only did they do all the amazing packing I detailed earlier, in game 162, they left a 3000+ PP present. |

Maintaining a 40-man roster is a lot easier. |

Curious if you allow repeat players across your rosters. |

Do you mean repeating or not repeating is confusing? I just keep a sheet of paper with the 26 man roster (in pencil) for ease of comparison. I will also let the teams "trade" a player if it helps both out. I also try to replace a player if another team comes up with a markedly better card. For me it gives the teams a definite personality and color, which makes it more fun. If I didn't do that, I'd probably only have one team. This year, I might even extend that restriction to include Willie Mays. Of course I need to get the first Mays card. Then I could decide easily my favorite team. |

Location, location, location
Was curious about where each team in R92 was located - as far as their fictional setting. However, only myself and Adion have placed their teams.
In the process of looking at ballpark locations, I discovered you can temporarily move an opponent's ballpark (though it resets each download, it appears) Interestingly, Adion's Sierra Vista Scorpions and Ft. Huachuca Buffalo Soldiers share the same ballpark (Buffalo Soldiers Field), just south of Douglas, AZ (where my wife spent several years in her childhood). More interestingly, when the Buffalo Soldiers play at BSF, the park holds 72,000 fans, while it is configure for only 10,000 when it is the home of the Scorpions. So...where are your ballparks? (I would suggest the coordinates 42.125119, -87.819031 for the Palolo Puppies.) |
Quote:
I have The Spile for Waffletown set at coordinates 44.481424 / -73.187609. Since I used an alternate logo from the Vermont Lake Monsters for the Syrups (only used once by them as far as I'm aware when they called the team the "Maple Kings"), I made the location of their field the coordinates here. (If you plug those coordinates into a google map, it should come up basically around Centennial field in Burlington, Vermont.) |
Quote:
And, yes, the backstory of the locations is really what interests me. |

My three teams take their names from "The Great American Novel," by Phillip Roth, a very funny, wonderfully crude at times, baseball book. The story centers on the Port Ruppert Mundys, of defunct Patriot League, whose greedy owners have rented out the ballpark as a WW II training ground, thus forcing the Mundys on the road for the season. It weaves in many, many historical baseball stories and is a fanciful delight. I haven't read it in a couple of years, so it might be due again. I'm sure I've read it about a dozen times over the years. All three cities are fictional, but their states are named in the book. Port Ruppert is in New Jersey, so I just took it to be either Newark or Port Newark, NJ. I think Roth might be from Newark, which was home to the minor league legends, the Newark Bears. I don't think Roosevelt Stadium is still open. Asylum is in Ohio, which makes me picture Sanitarium Hills Stadium in the rolling hills of Loveland, OH, just ouside of Cincinnati. When I was in tech school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, a classmate and I would go to Loveland on weekends, which is where he lived. Terra Incognita is, I think, in South Dakota, but I'll have to check the book to posit a location for Moonlight Roundup Corral. On a side note, when I was stationed at Luke AFB in Glendale,AZ, we always had an Army lieutenant, assigned to Fort Huachuca, attached to our office. It made me reminisce a bit when I saw the name this year. Finally, make sure your Friends List is up to date, you select use Friends List and submit, submit, submit. Good luck next week |
Stanley: Thank you for your service. I'm retired AF currently a contractor at WPAFB in Dayton.
On an official note, I picked up SS 86-Snapshot Jay Bell for a mere 1900. 92Def, 61CON 70POW 59EYE 51AVK. A good all around card for a gold of that price, plus I needed to shore up the D up the middle. He replaces Shawon Dunston (65) who hit .218 with a 55D. Will try to break .500 in OL this season as it looks like I will be staying back in Rookie. On a side note my 2nd team (also FTP no restrictions) won their bronze championship in the first week of existence. |

Huzzah! Everyone on the sheet made it into the same league in their respective tiers: Rookie .085, Stone .107, Iron .180, Bronze .205
good luck in the new season |
That's good news on the league placement. Only took us a year and a half to get it right! :D
I ran into a strange thing this morning - all the changes I made last night were undone. And that reminded me that there's this weird limbo state that exists after your league championship has ended until.... not sure how long it lasts, maybe until the next day? At any rate, any changes I made after the championship was won got reset. Changed I made this morning just prior to the league launch did stick, though. So if you made changes to your team last night, check it when you can. Good luck, folks. Brigadoon has set a goal of winning more games this year than last... since we won 59 last year, it's probably an achievable goal! I guess Annandale's goal is to someday make the playoffs and not get swept. :/ |
Yes.. The Daytona Beach Tortugas are stoked!.. Many games in the Rookie league.. Should make an otherwise what is shaping up to be a bad week a little bit better.. This game is a Blessing!
|
Sorry guys, looks like my teams landed in your league this week. The Gutter Cats are a former OL team and ftp. So is the Led Zeppelins, one of my other ftp teams. The bummer part is the Fighting Saints are also there.

Good work guys.
To echo the words above, nice that we got it right. Let's extend our streak to two in a row. Since I whined about it much last year, I'm saying this just once (I think).
I wish OOTP would apply the Friends List uniformly. With 16 (?) teams in one stone league, would be nice if the there were four divisions with three teams, and two in thee others. I always feel bad for the outliers. Shinbone and Asylum are the two OL teams in bronze and play each other 19 times. I guess OOTP figures Friends want to play each other in a lot of games. I'd rather have the shot at an OL World Series. Once and future OL members, the Terra Incognita Rustlers are also in the OL stone league. Good luck to everyone this year. |

I looked at your roster and I think we match up well. In my quick perusal, it seemed like we didn't have any players in common. That possibility is one of the coolest things about OL.
I hope OOTP meant the joke when they made Rex Hudler a One Hit Wonder. How about a wager on the season series? We'll put up the Sanitarium Hills Stadium concession stand's famous Nut Rolls, if you offer some of Shinbone's osso buco. |
