Oh, no, they didn't just blow 7-0 (the score I saw on the ticker during Stanford-Kansas State)…they blew 9-0. That's just embarrassing. (More great work from Castro, I see.)

At least they won in "extra" innings. When a "game" is tied after 7, do they start the pop-up baserunner bullshyt in the 8th? Wouldn't want a game to last 9 innings, I guess…

And then they lost the 2nd game, anyhow. Choke-choke-choke-ch-ch-choke.

And yet they won! Then lost, closing the books on what simply must be the ugliest 7 game winning streak in baseball history.

More importantly, replacing Nimmo with Almora and/or Pillar the rest of the way should be the final hole in the hull here.

On the positive side, Mazeika has been way better than anyone thought. He was a novelty with the walkoff bloops early on, but he looks like an OK catcher (by Mets standards) and he's much less of a give-up AB than Nido.

Keith Hernandez making a case for 20 wins making you the Cy Young. That's gonna be no worse a spectacle than Taijuan Walker's fireworks performance. :p

So…Stroman is the only one who hasn't had the first batter of the game take him over the wall recently? Carrasco's done it multiple times, Hill did it, Megill did it Saturday and now Walker.

Maybe our guys need to warm up a little more in the bullpen before they start. Just a thought.

(I love Gary, but…he really pushes bilge like this too often. Like the fairy story about how throwing 135 pitches in the no-hitter destroyed Johan Santana's career. Actually, Johan was fine for his next 4 or 5 starts…until he got spiked by Reed Johnson while covering 1B in Chicago. He tried to rush back from that, messed up his delivery, messed up his arm and THAT was all she wrote.

But it doesn't make an "instructive story" the way that "OMG! 135 pitches!" does. Sigh.)

I've had this thought every time I've read or conversed about the various holes they have to fix, from Alderson's office down. I think I'd take out a notepad, write "Keep" at the top, and Pete's name underneath, and then have very very uncomfortable conversations with everyone else in the org. I'm not sure the guy watching the gate in the parking lot should stay (although he probably works for Aramark anyway and they seem to do a good job at Citi even though they signed a contract with the Mets).

I think it's now past time to blow it up. You're not winning anything with these players, this manager, and this front office. You're stuck with Lindor, but everyone else shouldn't be safe.

It's almost impossible to not score a run after a leadoff triple. But the Mets did it! I think the pitchers/batters combined WPA was -50%, which also seems unpossible. One for the ages!

Mets lose 3 of 4 to WAS and MIA, finish road trip at 4-4. Against two teams that are each 20+ games below .500. So much for the "easy" schedule.

Wednesday, Rojas won't use J.D. Davis as a pinch-hitter against Anthony Bender, because Bender is SO TOUGH on RHB.

Thursday, Rojas lets Davis face Bender, even though he has 2 LHB and a SH on the bench. Way to go, Boy Blunder!

Rojas probably only regrets not getting Edlose Diaz in to pitch the 8th.

If you didn't watch the Mets playthrough last year OOTP did... Gus, who played along with Rich Grisham, once said after a depressing inning "The six most common words in the English language are 'Mets threaten but fail to score'". :) :(
