9-0 to 9-7. There is no easy game with this team...

Oh, no, they didn't just blow 7-0 (the score I saw on the ticker during Stanford-Kansas State)…they blew 9-0. That's just embarrassing. (More great work from Castro, I see.)
At least they won in "extra" innings. When a "game" is tied after 7, do they start the pop-up baserunner bullshyt in the 8th? Wouldn't want a game to last 9 innings, I guess… And then they lost the 2nd game, anyhow. Choke-choke-choke-ch-ch-choke. |

More importantly, replacing Nimmo with Almora and/or Pillar the rest of the way should be the final hole in the hull here. On the positive side, Mazeika has been way better than anyone thought. He was a novelty with the walkoff bloops early on, but he looks like an OK catcher (by Mets standards) and he's much less of a give-up AB than Nido. |
Keith Hernandez making a case for 20 wins making you the Cy Young. That's gonna be no worse a spectacle than Taijuan Walker's fireworks performance. :p
|
So…Stroman is the only one who hasn't had the first batter of the game take him over the wall recently? Carrasco's done it multiple times, Hill did it, Megill did it Saturday and now Walker.
Maybe our guys need to warm up a little more in the bullpen before they start. Just a thought. Fortunately our bats are hot. Or the Gnats just suck, one or another. So we can survive blowing leads of 4-0 and 6-3, not to mention The Finger's baserunning. "it's important for [Baez] to go to third base [with two out], because he can score from there on a base hit. Of course, he can also score from second on a hit. So basically, he needs to go from second to third like Frank Howard needs more muscles." —Jim Bouton, Ball Four |
The animated spagetti monster in the blue shirt could not get a ball past my grandmother.
Although she's 91 and on 21 pills a day, so she's probably barely legal... :p |
Jarred Kelenic ... let me see... .156 with 8 homers in 250 at-bats... -2.0 WAR ...
Still better than the crap the Mets got. |
The only thing Edwin Diaz and the rest of the Mets are elite at is failure.
Get that bum Rojas his pink slip and everyone else go home for the winter and think about how much time you've wasted teasing us this season. |
What Gary Cohen said: "The Mets have a rested Edwin Diaz…"
What I heard: "The Mets have arrested Edwin Diaz…" Confirmation bias? Perhaps. But I like my version better. Gary, in arguing for pulling Trevor Williams after five innings (which i agreed with; he'd been in too many jams): "He's thrown 92 pitches in five innings" OMG, Rojas, you…monster! How could you stress the Poor Widdle Baby that way?? (I love Gary, but…he really pushes bilge like this too often. Like the fairy story about how throwing 135 pitches in the no-hitter destroyed Johan Santana's career. Actually, Johan was fine for his next 4 or 5 starts…until he got spiked by Reed Johnson while covering 1B in Chicago. He tried to rush back from that, messed up his delivery, messed up his arm and THAT was all she wrote. But it doesn't make an "instructive story" the way that "OMG! 135 pitches!" does. Sigh.) |
Good news, Jake's arm problem was a partial UCL tear but hey, all better now! Thanks for all the info guys, good job pitching him repeatedly through it in June-July.
|
Cheers to Pete for hitting career bomb #100 (and #101 too!) against the smelly Fish.
Such a good boy! One day he'll be on a team that deserves him. |

I think it's now past time to blow it up. You're not winning anything with these players, this manager, and this front office. You're stuck with Lindor, but everyone else shouldn't be safe.
Full-on franchise reset required this offseason. Let's see if Uncle Stevie has the guts to act. |
Hey fellas! Get a piece of the crappy Yankees while they are hot! (That is, cold, having reverted to what they really are, which is bad.) You should be looking for a three-game sweep this weekend.
|
It's almost impossible to not score a run after a leadoff triple. But the Mets did it! I think the pitchers/batters combined WPA was -50%, which also seems unpossible. One for the ages!

Mets lose 3 of 4 to WAS and MIA, finish road trip at 4-4. Against two teams that are each 20+ games below .500. So much for the "easy" schedule. Wednesday, Rojas won't use J.D. Davis as a pinch-hitter against Anthony Bender, because Bender is SO TOUGH on RHB. Thursday, Rojas lets Davis face Bender, even though he has 2 LHB and a SH on the bench. Way to go, Boy Blunder! Rojas probably only regrets not getting Edlose Diaz in to pitch the 8th. |

If you didn't watch the Mets playthrough last year OOTP did... Gus, who played along with Rich Grisham, once said after a depressing inning "The six most common words in the English language are 'Mets threaten but fail to score'". :) :( |
