Diamond league final standings:
While there were only a handful of teams and a small amount of games, there was still a dramatic finish. Hidden Valley needed a minor miracle to happen to overtake Laramie and claim the crown. (minor part: Hidden Valley needed to win 2-of-3 against Laramie. Miracle part: they also needed Waffletown to beat Laramie 2-of-3). Their series with Laramie started off bad for them as they lost game 1; but Hidden Valley managed to turn it around and claimed victory in games 2 and 3 to take care of their end. After that, they could only watch the scoreboard and hope. To their surprise, the hapless Syrups won game 1 and 2 against Laramie to help clinch the OL crown for the Bombers. Overall, no playoffs for OL teams this year in Diamond. Relegations: Waffletown Syrups (but hey, they only lost 98 games! Little victories. :p) good luck for anyone in the playoffs today... I'll be hanging out with the Beer League today. |

The Wrap Up
1 Attachment(s)
As stated earlier, there will be no bronze crown this week, given the pull out of half the OL contingent, leaving just three teams. Congrats to the winners. I'll check back in later this evening with playoff and promotion/relegation news.
|
Promotion and Relegation
There will be no OL World Series this season. In fact, only two OL teams remain active at this point. I'll check for results later. Team movements are set. As always, you are reminded to check your friends list and submit. Looks like there will only be three crowns up for grabs in 2063, in diamond, gold, and silver.
Perfect - Norwood Diamonders back to diamond. Diamond - No promotions; Waffletown back to gold. Gold - Cary to diamond; Hartford, South Side, Hooterville, and El Dorado to silver. Silver - Krikkit, Illawarra to gold; no relegations. Bronze - No promotions; Asheboro to iron. Iron - Otonokizaka to bronze; Iron Maiden and Chicago to stone. |
That's all, folks.
Krikkit and Cary both eliminated, so no post season honors for OL this week.
|
So, FYI, I had been hanging out and not paying a lot of attention to OOTP lately --- until this week. Cary and Weston Pointe had both accumulated about 800k in PP. Since Cary already had about half the FOTF missions completed, I have spent a lot of time this week working on finishing those up. I now have only one card remaining to get (a San Diego DIamond) before I finish them all up. Hopefully I will get it before the 2063 season starts tomorrow --- appropriate since Cary will be in diamond next week.
For Weston Pointe, I didn't want to have to go to all the trouble of completing all the missions particularly since they only had completed about five teams before now. So I used their PP to buy up some of the good FOTF players (including Pedro). So they should be a little better this next week (in gold). |

only 3 teams in Bronze and Iron this week (and Iron has 2 in one league, one in another), also 2 in Stone.... Silver, Gold, Diamond all picked up everyone... Gold divisions below (NC West should be fun with all 5 teams from OL... other 5 divisions all have an OL team, so sparse games for the rest) |

The teams are well sorted to ensure that there will be plenty of OL games.

Iron
Ring Road and Asheboro are in I155, while reigning OL Iron champ Cat Town was sent to I297. No titles this week in Iron

Gold league update:
Highland shoots out of the gate to an 18-4 OL start to grab a comfortable early lead. |
Hey Jason, a question...
Isn't it fun doing the standings, given the fact that OOTP doesn't know how to alphabetize? I'm referring to the way they get the Brooklyns out of order.

yeah, I gave up on things making sense awhile back.... when I setup my 'league win/loss' sheet, I pull up the team-v-team and just go with what the game gives me from top to bottom... figure if I'm trying to put those together at 5:30am before i've finished my first cup of coffee, the easier i make it for myself the better :p |

Gold league update:
Waffletown remains in the lead heading into the final stretch. In September, the Syrups will have 3 OL games, while Highland has 12 remaining. Waffletown controls their own destiny as they only need to win all three games to clinch. If Waffletown wins 2 of 3, then Highland would have a razor thin path to the crown with a 12-0 run. If Waffletown goes 1-for-3, Highland can win with an 8-4 run. Overall, Highland pretty much guaranteed the NC West crown. Syrups and Pimp Ministers hold down wild card spots in their respective leagues. Five OL teams in relegation land. |
Iron 155
Not much OL competition in I155, as only Asheboro and Ring Road showed up to play, with only six games between the two teams. Asheboro swept the second 3-game series to gain a 4-2 advantage over the Rams.
Both teams are currently in a promotion spot. The Rams lead the NC Central by 7.5 games, while the Road Dogs have a 2.5 game cushion for the second NC wildcard spot. |

South Side continued its solid play, staring down four challengers to win the 2063 title.
In PT, OL grabbed the lion's share the playoff spots, making an OL World Series a distinct possibility (until I just jinxed it, that is). |

Hoping Someone Will do Diamond
I'm guessing there were enough games for a title.

Gold league update:
Waffletown hangs on to claim the OL crown. Overall, Highland (111-51) nabs the top seed in the NC, with the Brooklyn Dynasty (89-73) taking the second wild card spot. In the AC, Waffletown's 104-58 record was only good enough for a first wild card spot as they were in the same division as the top team in the league. rough year for OL at the Gold level... 6 relegations back to Silver: -Flatbush Red Hooks -Port Ruppert Mundys -Ciudad Trujillo Dragones -Brooklyn Untouchables -Krikkit War Robots -Illawarra Flame |

One for the thumb! Congratulations!

I think it is safe to say that Gold has really been a tough nut to crack in PT21 and it appears to be getting harder and harder each and every week!
|
Quote:
in other news.... Port Ruppert becomes the second OL club to amass over 1000 wins this version (1026).... Cary should get there as well (997) if we get Diamond results |
Iron

No OL title in Iron. Asheboro narrowly misses the playoffs and will return to Iron next season. Ring Road enters playoffs and will advance to Bronze.

Gold playoff update:
Highland advances to LCS (and promotion to Diamond). Waffletown chokes in the wild card match (can't say I'm that disappointed since it means another season at Gold rather than a shellacking at Diamond).... the top seed in the AC went down to the wild card team in 3 straight as well. |
Silver 326 All OL World Series
2 Attachment(s)
After a thrilling 11th inning walk-off homerun by Ernie Banks in Game 7 of the Sub-League Series against the Norwood Red Menace, the El Dorado Aztecs are heading to the World Series against the Hartford Whalers.
|
Promotions and Relegations
Team movements are set. In the PT playoffs, there is an OL World Series between Hartford and El Dorado in silver. Highland is in the world series in diamond. Please check your friends list and submit. There should be crowns at stake in bronze and iron if the teams are diligent.
Diamond - Kansas, Cary, and Hidden Valley to gold. Gold - Highland to diamond; Flatbush, Port Ruppert, Ciudad Trujillo, Brooklyn Untouchables, Krikkit, Illawarra all to silver. Silver - Hartford, El Dorado, Hooterville, Norwood Red Menace, South Side all to gold; K-Town, Vlora, and Shangri-La to bronze. Bronze - Death Valley to silver; no relegation. Iron - Ring Road to bronze; no relegation. Stone - Chicago and Iron Maiden to iron. |
