Also, don't throw at the ******* head, for ***** sake!!

So I've watched the reply a few times and while the pitch was not "that" close to hitting his head he could have accomplished the same message by throwing at his hip or even right at his feet and knocked him down. I'm glad no one was hurt because I want to see good players play good baseball but then again I'm not sure what I watched today (or the entire series) was good baseball.

Still, I do like the passion and the excitement on a day where I was able to work from home and catch a ball game at the same time.

The only thing dumber than beanball wars and "bench-clearing brawls" is a sports league tht has zero idea how to prevent them after 100+ years.

What do we think? Tylor Megill, Drew Smith, Joely Rodriguez, Seth Lugo, and Edwin Diaz combine on the 2nd no hitter in Mets history!

(screams incoherently) :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I didn't even realize the bid was on until Gary and Ron pointed it out when the pen came in. (playing the Coonie Coons alongside in the early innings also didn't help :o ...)

The last innings were tense. I think I need my second shower of the day now.

Drew Smith's got a no-hitter now! :p I love Drew Smith! He looks perpetually confused! ... I just wish we wouldn't try to make his brittle arm fall off with 30+ pitches while sitting down in between.

MEEEEEEEETS!! :woohoo:

Mets drop Cano. Thank you brodie! I think we still owe him $40 million

I think it was $24m per year, of which the Mariners agreed to pay $7m per year, or something like that. So with roughly 1/6 of this season over let's say it's about $30m the Mets have to wire him according to my math.

Everybody who followed my Raccoons for a while knows that I am horrible at GM'ing. But even I could smell that dead fish of a trade from 5,000 miles away......

(marks an E for Gary Cohen)

Regardless, we've seen enough Metsies beaned already this year. And sometimes it only takes one hit for irreversible brain damage.

What's with Marte...!? Who else is injured...!?:ohmy:

Do I even dare watch the series finale in three hours?

Hypocrites. The Mets are hypocrites.

One of the beat writers said that when SAC was presented with the various options for Cano he said "make the baseball decision". And they did!

He passed way bigger kidney stones for stupid moves by other people... What's $30m-or-so after the Gamestop debacle?:laugh::bored:

What a colonoscopy of a sixth inning. :glare:

Will_L 05-04-2022 03:27 PM

Wow, Ottavino brought a few gas cans to work today.
That became a dumpster fire real quick LOL.

Westheim 05-04-2022 04:01 PM

So Collin McHugh pitches for the Barves now, but used to be a Met before being traded to the Rockies for Eric Young jr.

Meanwhile, Eric Young sr. is a coach for the Barves, but hit the first home run in a Rockies home game - against the Mets?

Kids, I tell ya. The world's a village.

Well, they blew up the Chicken Man in Philly last night...

I also kinda like this one.

Westheim 05-07-2022 04:44 PM

"Spahn and Sain, and two days of rain", huh?

dsvitak 05-09-2022 11:33 AM

I just read that Cano's OPS with the Mets was .765.

As not great as that sounds, know this...Pujols, in ten years with the Angels, managed a .758 OPS.

Westheim 05-09-2022 01:16 PM

From the data on baseball-reference, the two cost the same over ten years ($240m), so it's only fair the OPS is mostly the same.

Of course, the Mets also got Cano's old-man defense for most of the time.

The Angels got a crappy DH.

One would think that a decent hitter can be found in every franchise, at the AAA level. Probably more than one, and ALL of them could do better than a .758 OPS.

Hell..find the guy in your farm system that knows how to draw a walk, and can get an OBP of .375 or better. Hit him second, and you're Gucci.

BBGiovanni 05-14-2022 11:28 AM

And... that's like 10 days of .500 ball. Not the way to go into 4 games with the yuckbirds.

Westheim 05-15-2022 05:04 PM

I wanted nothing more than a 2-run walkoff single from Pete.

The baseball gods said no.

My eyes are wet.
