Ninth innings with Boom-Boom Diaz are such a calming experience. Nobody tore out their fur by the bushel during these.

Matt Harvey putting the Dark in "Dark Knight"

Quote:

The Commissioner’s Office announced on Tuesday that Orioles pitcher Matt Harvey has been suspended 60 games in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Harvey’s suspension comes after he admitted that he provided drugs to late Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs.
Can he plunge much deeper? :(:(

Hey guys thanks for the weekend too!!!

Scherzer out with a mid-to-high-grade oblique strain.

...

Well.

Maybe next year.

He's officially a Met now, like Megill and McCann!

BBGiovanni 05-24-2022 05:25 PM

So I wasn't crazy about the part where the Giants gave up 13 runs, but I sure enjoyed the Mets scoring them! Also hat tiips to Darren Ruf for testing the net and to Luis Gonzalez on his second consecutive pitching appearance and his unlimited 43mph goofballs!

Westheim 05-25-2022 01:38 AM

Only saw it from the Mets meltdown onwards, and I have a feverish, white burning hatred for both Boom-Boom and Jerc Pederson, so I just want to say that the only thing that surprises me is that Pederson didn't end it by joining a list with only 20 players on it.

Go home, Boom-Boom. Nobody likes you here!:mad::mad::mad:

I'm just in the 2nd inning of Tuesday's game but that single sentence explains the score. I used to post on a Mets fanboard and people would argue strenuously that he was "good". And the argument, as near as I can tell, was he was "good" in 2020 (LOL 2 montsh) and the first two months of 2019 (again LOL). Or the "new ball" in 2019 bothered him, or his entrance song bothered him. That $10M arb number was bananas.

He would probably be pretty useful as a 7th-8th inning guy. He's great on my computer Mets when he isn't the closer. I knew they couldn't bury him when Bro-die was still GM but if they really think they're going somewhere they'll need someone better.

We'll see what they think they're doing if/when the team cools off, without Scherzer and deGrom something tells me it's the old SA/Fredjeff strategy of "see where we are on Flag Day and then decide what to do". :/

EDIT: What a complete little league disaster of a game, and I can't believe Diaz pausing in the dugout while the coach gets on the phone to find out Ruf was safe, then talking to himself on the way to the clubhouse. I don't know how anyone can watch that guy and think he's anything but Armando Benitez Jr.

I hate Joc Pederson more than words can say.

Trade Szapucki to a Beer League team in Kayenta, AZ, for a ... sixpack.

Half a sixpack probably.

Syracuse needs pitchers too, 6 shows a week.

Westheim 05-26-2022 02:27 AM

I thought of Port St. Lucie.

Or whereever Instructional League is.

For accountants.

Or the unhappy place where rancid butter goes.

No, no, I am too harsh. He's welcome back at any time.

As a fan in the stands.

Getting interviewed by Steve in the third inning.

"We still remember that day in San Francisco ten years ago where you gave up the nine runs in your second and final career outing. Do you?"

And he does.

Every day.

And every night.

As long as he lives.

BBGiovanni 05-26-2022 06:52 AM

OK, I just saw the first 5 runs Szapucki wasn't missing any bats, but the weather here yesterday was weirdly hot and dry, for us anyway. So he shouldn't have been scorched that badly for mistakes. It's been like this since Monday, and the collective series score was 28-25. Colorado-tacular!

BBGiovanni 05-30-2022 08:21 PM

I never ever get tired of watching the Metsies bead the Philthies!

It’s no surprise that entering the night, the Mets’ postseason probability had climbed to 93.1%, according to FanGraphs data.
I will save this one for later, when it's mid-September and they trail the Phillies and Padres by four for the last wild card.

Westheim 06-01-2022 03:00 PM

Pete still with zero RBI in June...!

(sounds the alarm horn and bangs the slump gong)

Westheim 06-04-2022 07:20 AM

We seem to have hit the part of the season where it all comes apart silently in the dead of the night, which somehow always conincides with a trip to Dodgers Den.....

Certainly looks like the JV team playing against the Varsity... maybe the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have some open dates?

Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer has often been referred to as a bulldog on the mound, but he was on the wrong end of an encounter with one of his own dogs, when it got a little too tenacious.

Scherzer was bitten on the right hand by one of his two dogs, but the ace said in a tweet that the bite was mild and "will have no effect on my rehab."

Knowing the Metsies, he'll have the arm amputated at the shoulder by about the middle of next week...

Westheim 06-07-2022 01:42 AM

EDDIIIIEEEE!!

Cycle! I saw only the last leg of it, but it was a fine leg. :p
