I like Escobar, he's been slumpy for a while but maybe that's how he goes. Unbelievable throw from 3B the other day in Dante's Inferno Stadium too. |
Well this is shaping up to be an epic mess, 2nd inning and only a backup C on the bench :(
|
And tonight's "thing I never saw before": an alleged pitcher walking 3 guys on 12 pitches

Forget it Jake, it's San Diego.

I can't decide whether I should put my money on "really bad" or "really stupid" yet... |
I haven't followed the cartel plague protocols this year, I suppose like everywhere else they've given up.
In other news, your hero struck out two whole batters in the 9th inning yesterday! But if not for Pete's great throw and Plummer being on the ball that was a blown save and a half. |
There are few things in the world that I enjoy more than when Pete socks a grand slam. :D

I love reading this thread because a great many folks are in here expecting the inevitable wheels to fall off, and yet it has not happened yet. Of course if it does I will be rightfully roasted. The Mets are a really good team. Once Degrom and Scherzer come back they will be a force to be reckoned with. Did you ever think that at this point in the year the Mets would have the most runs scored in baseball?

And to think you never knew that until a few weeks ago! |
Is it me or does it look like the rally parakeet has grown up quite a bit?

Where do the Fish keep finding these guys? The A's and Marlins should be made into feeder league teams! |
Keith Hernandez: "Did you always want to be a baseball player?"
Pete Alonso: "It was either that or astronaut, but I failed calculus in college, and then my options were limited." THANK GOD FOR CALCULUS!! :D |
Jeff McNeil squirrels away a run the Mets had no business getting, but of course tears out a leg in the process.
If he's seriously hurt, I must cast myself off the tallest cliff into the ghastly darkness of the deepest sea ...!! :crying::crying: |
This will be an apology to Drew Smith, who I lumped in with Eric Hanhold and Jacob Rhame and other bums and called the whole lot of them "terrible relievers" on page 29 of this thread.
I didn't mean to, Drew. Really. It was just that I was angry, and back then you had not been able to show us what you got due to repeated and depressing injuries. Please don't be mad at me, Drew. I like you a whole bunch now! I am also sorry for never remembering you when I go over the box score of a Mets night game and under pitching I see "Smith, Dr", and each and every time I wonder, who the heck is this Doctor Smith and why is he pitching for the Metsies? I really do like you a whole bunch, and I could totally pick you out of a lineup with Sergio Romo, Hank Conger, and Johnny Cueto. IF you wear your uniform. You know, the one that says "SMITH 62" on the back. Yes, I am bored to ******* death in the office and read my way through old threads. No guarantee I won't have to make more apologies to players and other people that don't even know I exist. |
Smith is no slouch, and I'm not sure there are better options than him. Lugo can really make a mess when he's not right, and the other guy is just not good.
|
Hey look, every SP but Walker is broken! Smells like Szapucki!
|
Doesn't matter. Pete will put the entire team on his back and just out-homer the other teams while we keep sending out the Seventeen Incarnations of Yennsy Diaz. :D
Or maybe not. Wouldn't be the first first-place Mets team in June to have drowned by August. |
