2299 Week 5 - The Week in Review
1 Attachment(s)
Analysis
Diamond City remains at the top with a 4-1 week, including sweeping Warwick and barely losing to Egret in Game Three. The Swatters gave up four runs three times during the week, indicating that their pitching is a strength when the number four is a run cap. In all fairness, in their weekend series last week against Vault 81, they won their games 11-9 and 10-7 in that series, so there are games when the opponent will score. Regardless of those two results, the Swatters are still 1st in every pitching category: runs (89), Starters ERA (3.51), Bullpen ERA (2.18), FIP (3.53), Pitching WAR (5.8), and Strikeouts (225). Goodneighbor and Nordhagen Beach switched spots for #2 and #6 this week. We will feature the Hancocks in our "Risers" section below. For the Party Boys, they had their first losing week of the season, going 2-3 in their games with a split at Lexington and a dropped series at Finch Farm. The offense needs to show improvement in manufacturing runs. While they are 4th in the NCA in batting average (.284), they are 9th in runs scored (109). There have been some productivity issues throughout the middle of the lineup with runners in scoring position. Leadoff hitter Ryan Combs leads the team in RBI, which is not always a good sign. Still, this team is tied with The Slog for first place in the Brotherhood League and is likely to be in the playoffs when the season concludes. Fort Hagen, Quincy, and The Slog round out the Top 5. The Silver Shroud have somehow quietly taken over the top record in the NCA and have a three-game lead on Starlight for 1st place in the Institute League. The Shroud are 4th in runs scored (116) and 2nd in runs allowed (82), but they could still score more runs if they manufactured runs better. Mark Miller (.396/0/13) and Andrew Nuka (.354/9/21) are tearing the cover off the ball. All four starters are doing great: Mike Cartrette (5-1, 1.56), Brent Hooker (3-1, 4.11), Derek Green (3-1, 3.22), and Matt Hope (5-0, 2.01). With a 1-4 week, County Crossing settled in to the 2nd-to-last spot thanks to the second-worst record in the CBO, just ahead of the Atom Cats (6-19). The Bloodbugs are sucking the life out of themselves, falling dead last in runs (89) and runs allowed (147). As a team, they have hit only six home runs, so it may be time to start making moves for current or future player who can hit the ball over the fence from time to time. Power Rankings Weekly Team Power Rankings: Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Diamond City Swatters (147.0, o) 2) Goodneighbor Hancocks (145.6, +4) 3) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (136.6, +2) 4) Quincy Gunners (123.4, -1) 5) The Slog Ghouls (123.4, -1) 6) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (122.4, -4) 7) Starlight Lady Killers (113.0, +2) 8) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (90.6, +3) 9) Abernathy Adamantium (88.6, -1) 10) FHE Yao Guai (85.4, +4) 11) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (81.4, -1) 12) Egret Ninjas (80.2, +3) 13) Easy Town Assaultrons (80.0, +8) 14) Finch Farm Four Leafs (79.2, +3) 15) Warwick Mirelurks (77.0, +3) 16) University Point Deathclaws (76.4, -9) 17) Oberland T-51s (76.2, -1) 18) Lexington Synths (75.2, -6) 19) Roxbury Knuckle Punchers (73.0, -6) 20) Vault 81 Dwellers (73.0, +2) 21) Concord Radstags (65.8, -2) 22) Salem Witch Hats (63.8, +1) 23) County Crossing Bloodbugs (49.6, -4) 24) Atom Cats (33.2, o) Risers Easy Town (+8) - Last Week: 21, This Week: 13 Watch out, Brotherhood League. The Assaultrons have won four straight, six of their last seven, and tied with Fort Hagen at 7-3 in their last 10 games. Offense has been their path to success, moving up to 2nd in runs (120). Four players are hitting over .325: Carlos Tophat (.360/0/12), Sean Samuels (.359/3/13), Dan Squirrel (.337/3/21), and reigning batting champion Jarrett Metalbox (.326/3/18). David Tech (4-0, 2.63) has been their most outstanding pitcher on the young season. Goodneighbor (+4) - LW: 6, TW: 2 Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Hancocks have reclaimed the top spot in the Minutemen League. Only trailing Diamond City now in the standings and team statistics, both the hitting and pitching have awoken after a slow start to the 2299 season. Good Don Duck (.431/5/15) may be a top MVP candidate. Reigning MVP Bryan Assman (.323/4/24) is having a great year, as is CF John Rose (.343/3/24) and 2B Jumper Hayes (.375/1/21). Starting pitching is dominating, but they are still second in the SCA in ERA (4.22). Quincy Eloquent is undefeated at 4-0, but he could improve his 4.17 ERA. FHE (+4) - LW: 14, TW: 10 In a league where there is one good team and a bunch of struggling ones, the Yao Guai are in sole possession of 2nd place in the Railroad League after a 3-2 week. They did, however, drop their weekend series to Oberland, which sits just a game back. 2nd-6th represents a two-game difference. Fallers University Point (-9) - LW: 7, TW: 16 The Deathclaws thought they were contenders coming into the week, but a six-game losing streak has dropped them to 4th place in the ML and killed a few of their dreams. They were swept by both FHE and Warwick this week. The Mirelurks are in 5th place, but they are now 7-2 in the ML versus both the Deathclaws and Cats. Roxbury (-6) - LW: 13, TW: 19 The Knuckle Punchers knocked off Vault 81 yesterday to break their four-game losing streak just one week after defeating Oberland in a weekend series. With a trip to Goodneighbor midweek, it was bound to happen. After being defeated by the Dwellers over the weekend, the Punchers are against punchless and tied with Vault 81 for last place, just one week after being tied for 2nd place in the league. Still, trailing by only two games, Roxbury could be in playoff contention if the rest of the league remains mediocre. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 9 May 2299 - Aquaboys' Oldtimer Takes Leave The Eastlake Aquaboys' backup third baseman Mike Oldtimer has taken a personal leave from the team. While the FHE franchise has not released an official statement, an anonymous team source said that Oldtimer is upset at playing time. Last season between Trinity Plaza and Eastlake, Oldtimer was 27 for 73 (.370) with two home runs and 15 RBI. He was told that he could expect more playing time in 2299, but John Yaoguai has been getting all playing time at third base since he was sent down from FHE before the season began. Yaoguai is batting .300 in 15 games started with no home runs and six RBI. Oldtimer is 1 for 4 on the season as a pinch hitter with most of his time as a defensive replacement in late games. 9 May 2299 - Levy Slugs Bloodbugs to 14-4 Win Mushy Levy impressed in the 14-4 County Crossing win over Concord. Levy, who is tied for 10th in the NCA in doubles with 10, slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The winner was Gavin Eviritts, who threw 125 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits. County Crossing, with the win, is 9-17. With County Crossing leading 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Gavin Eviritts hit a run-scoring single off Concord pitcher Gwinnett Southie. It put the Bloodbugs ahead 5-3. "We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Levy said after the game. Tattoo Woolf collected a base hit yet again. The County Crossing shortstop finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20. "I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Woolf told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Tattoo Woolf grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. This year Woolf has socked 36 hits in 98 at-bats for a .367 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .410 pace and his totals also include 9 RBIs and 12 runs scored. 9 May 2299 - Cuttooth Fuels 9-3 Goodneighbor Triumph A 3-RBI performance from Burtie Cuttooth helped the Goodneighbor Hancocks beat the FHE Yao Guai, 9-3. The win gives Goodneighbor a season record of 19-7. With runs few and far between, the Hancocks had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Goodneighbor came in the top of the second inning, when left fielder Zachary Utsinger delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off W. H. Lub and made the score 1-0, Hancocks. Utsinger was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. "I like how we're playing right now," said Cuttooth. Six total Hancocks had at least two hits. Thirteen of the 17 hits were singles. Jason Juras also homered. 9 May 2299 - Lady Killers Collect 1-0 Win Over Party Boys in 10 In a low-scoring game between the Starlight Lady Killers and the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, pitcher Chris Schneier was masterful on the mound. The Starlight left-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win in 10 innings. The second-place Lady Killers have won 4 straight. The Lady Killers relied on left fielder Jesus Church for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal. "This game tested our mettle," said Schneier. In 9 innings, Schneier allowed no runs on three hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Nordhagen Beach starter Chet Arhur allowed no runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 7.2 innings. Night Demon Archaki (2-1) lost the game after he allowed his first earned run of the season. Larry Undertaker (2-0) picked up the win. 9 May 2299 - Ghouls Lose to Adamantium in 10th-Inning Walk Off The Abernathy Adamantium finished things off in style. Behind the hitting of Donny Kowalski, the Abernathy Adamantium stopped the The Slog Ghouls, 9-8. Kowalski was 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Adamantium. Abernathy now has a record of 14-12 with the win. The clutch hit was provided by Lucky Libow. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Matt Suds in the bottom of the tenth. Kowalski expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end." 9 May 2299 - Silver Shroud Roll to 8-2 Win over Assaultrons Fort Hagen Silver Shroud starter Brent Hooker was in fine form against the Easy Town Assaultrons at Hubris Comics Park, leading his team to a win, 8-2. The first-place Silver Shroud have won 4 consecutive games. David Driftwood took David Tech deep in the bottom of the third. His solo home run put the Silver Shroud on top, 2-1. In all, Driftwood had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4. "We took advantage of our opportunities," Hooker told the Fort Hagen Gazette. "It's as simple as that." 9 May 2299 - Swatters Take Down Mirelurks, 3-2 The Diamond City Swatters faced a tough opponent in Warwick pitcher Bobby Van Marter, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Great Green Jewel by a final score of 3-2. Van Marter went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Noah Williams earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-1. Josh Samm recorded his 14th save for Diamond City. Diamond City took a 3-2 lead on Wayne Lacy's 9th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Warwick pitcher Bobby Van Marter in the bottom of the eighth. Lacy called the win the result of "everyone being in sync." The win puts Diamond City at 21-5 this season. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 May 2299 - Rehab Road Tough For Party Boys Tomas Jones Yesterday Nordhagen Beach right fielder Tomas Jones sustained a setback in his recovery from a strained groin muscle. The Party Boys medical staff told him it would be at least 2 weeks before he will be able to return to action. Jones told reporters, "The healing process has gone extremely well. This is just a little hiccup and a little setback." Apparently Jones worked a little too hard in a recent workout and caused more damage. His doctors have advised him to do only light exercise and give the injury time to heal. This year Jones is hitting .259, produced 8 RBIs and 1 home runs, scored 5 times and gotten on base at a .286 rate. 10 May 2299 - County Crossing Trades Noggin for The Slog's Dustin BNN has learned the County Crossing Bloodbugs have reportedly worked out a deal with the The Slog Ghouls. Sources close to the Bloodbugs indicated that a trade has been reached in principle where 25-year-old LF OK Dustin will be swapped to County Crossing with 30-year-old 1B Josh Noggin heading to The Slog. Neither organization would comment on the report, saying it was club policy not to speak about a trade until it was finalized. Noggin is presently hitting at a .235 pace with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and has scored 7 times. In his season totals, Dustin has no home runs, .421 BA, .421 OBP, 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has played in 19 games. 10 May 2299 - Fogcrawler Hits 2 home runs in Party Boys Win A 6-RBI performance from left fielder Michael Fogcrawler, who led the NCA in RBI with 107 last year, led the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys to a win over the Starlight Lady Killers, 14-11. The triumph puts Nordhagen Beach at 18-9 for the season. With Nordhagen Beach leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Fogcrawler hit a circle change from Jonathan Newman for a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Party Boys ahead, 4-0. "Our guys are never satisfied," said Nordhagen Beach manager Craig Robinson. 10 May 2299 - Danse Slugs Ninjas to 3-1 Win The Egret Ninjas handed the Atom Cats a loss at Coolest Field in Town. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 9 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 2-3. Andy Helium recorded the save for Egret, his 7th of the season. Egret took the lead on Danse's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which came against Jake Williams in the top of the sixth, made the score 2-1, Egret. "I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Danse. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Atom. 10 May 2299 - Multi-HR Day for Ackerman as Witch Hats Overpower Chemists, 6-1 Witch Hats shortstop Dan Ackerman put his stamp on his team's 6-1 win over the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Ackerman hit a cutter to left for a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Witch Hats on top, 6-0. "We'll enjoy this win," said Ackerman. "But there's more we hope to accomplish." 10 May 2299 - Assaultrons Score Late, Nip Silver Shroud The Easy Town Assaultrons faced a tough opponent in Fort Hagen pitcher Derek Green, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hubris Comics Park by a final score of 5-4. Green went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. Marc Woodsman earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. The victory puts Easy Town at 11-16. Easy Town used a timely hit from Bobby Carr to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Assaultrons ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact. "I was a little disappointed," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen. "We could've and should've scored more runs." 10 May 2299 - Swatters Best Mirelurks in Pitching Duel The Diamond City Swatters got a magnificent performance from pitcher Tyler Powers, who muffled the Warwick offense en route to a tight 2-0 Swatters win at The Great Green Jewel. I knew we were forgetting someone, but now they're back: The Hancocks.
Anyway, enjoying the Nukaworld settlement focuses, since I'm less familiar with that area than the main play area. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 11 May 2299 - Season Ends for Syme Roy Syme had to wait several agonizing days to find out his diagnosis after suffering a torn flexor tendon in his elbow on 05/10/2299. Today he received word from the Salem doctor that he would be out the rest of the year. Team officials called it a huge setback but something they would have to overcome. This year Syme has made 7 starts, thrown 40 innings, fanned 31 batters and walked 28. His won-lost record is 3-3 with a 6.30 ERA. 11 May 2299 - CBO Sought for NWL's Offensive Woes The Nuka World League is only 21 games into the season, and they want more help from the CBO. Wondering why the league averages are not consistent with the initial thoughts of selecting offensive players and holding off on pitching, the NWL is struggling with offense. The top hitting teams in the league, the Cherry Ghoulrillas and the Orange Tourists, are hitting just .226 and .224 with 89 and 99 runs apiece. Five teams are batting below .200 collectively. As a league, teams are averaging 3.13 runs per game. "Fans who have watched the CBO expect a certain brand of baseball," North Charles Association President Tyler Hinson said. "The NWL is not delivering that brand of baseball to them right now. We're going to go there with some coaches and scouts, take measurements on their fields, see what we have to do so teams can score runs. It's a problem. "If teams are constantly getting shut out," Hinson continued, "or it games constantly go to extra innings tied 0-0, fans are not going to stay, and the league won't last long. Solve issues now, and we can have a great partnership with the Nuka baseball league." |

Nuka News Update All the news you need about Bradberton and Nuka World by Evan Guy 12 May 2299 - CBO to Analyze NWL Outputs Representatives that will include member of the CBO front office, the BNN, the OSA, and a few available independent coaches and scouts will visit the Nuka World League to analyze why hits and runs are so low. They will consider all factors, including whether or not outfield fences need to be dismantled to encourage more hits. "We're trying to save the league from boredom," Dark team president Peter Park said. "Look at what happened to us today. This is not how it's supposed to be, I don't think. I watched some games in the CBO, and none of their games look this bad. Maybe we need to orders some Swatters, Inc. bats and balls or something." 12 May 2299 - Two Dark Pitchers Combine for No-hitter, Lose 1-0 Tim LeBlanc and Sam Morris combined to allow no hits and no earned runs in 8.0 innings, but the Dark Bloodworms still lost 1-0 to the Grape Painted Ghouls. The Grape Painted Ghouls did little to support starter Melvin Ceja against the Bloodworms, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete-game shutout against the Bloodworms, striking out 6 and surrendering 3 hits. "Nobody came to me and said 'Melvin, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Ceja told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it." On the season Ceja has a 2-2 record with a 3.15 ERA. In the top of the 7th with Morris on the mound, Elliot Orejel reached on a mishandled blooper to short left by Kaylaunie Barwon. Tom Maisano then moved him over on a sacrifice bunt. With runners on first and second following a walk, Dave Grossheim grounded out to move up the runners. Melvin Ceja then hit a grounder to Dark second baseman Roger Darn, but he bobbled the ball, allowing Orejel to score. |

His 9th home run of the season put the Ghouls out in front, 7-5. "We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Tentsleep. There was a heated confrontation between the Ghouls and Assaultrons that resulted in ejections and suspensions. C.T. Woodard of The Slog and Daddy-O Sixx of Easy Town were issued 4-game suspensions by the league office for initiating the on-field disturbance. This year Woodard is hitting .404 with 2 home runs. This season Sixx has made 12 relief appearances, collecting no saves. Sixx has worked 12.1 innings, yielding 13 hits and giving out 1 free passes while striking out 12. He has a 0-0 record with a 4.38 ERA. 12 May 2299 - Gunkill Boosts Hit Streak to 25 Games Steve Gunkill has been on a tear for several weeks, and his hitting streak just keeps getting longer. The 33-year-old Quincy Gunners center fielder extended his streak today to 25 games, going 1-for-4 as Quincy got the best of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at The Stone House, 10-5. "Steve has been playing real well lately and we're proud of him," Gunners manager Kevin Banner said. Steve Gunkill walked in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Gunkill is hitting .377 in 2299 with 18 RBIs and 4 home runs. 12 May 2299 - Win Lifts Party Boys to 19-9 Taboo Richardson helped his team muscle past the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 10-7. Tostado went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The victory gives Fort Hagen a record of 20-8. The most important at-bat for Fort Hagen came in the top of the 11th inning, when left fielder Andrew Nuka stroked a 2-0 fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Fort Hagen up, 6-5. "Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Nuka told the Fort Hagen Gazette. He was 3 for 6 with a run and two RBI. David Driftwood hit a three-run home run in the 6th to tie the game, 4-4. It was his fourth on the season. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 13 May 2299 - Cartrette Spins No-Hitter Against Lexington Mike Cartrette was feeling calm about his no-hitter -- until the last three outs. "You really become conscious of every pitch at that point," he said. "The adrenaline level kicks up even higher. Everybody in the ballpark knows a no-hitter is on the line. The crowd is on its feet. One mistake and it's all over." There were no mistakes to be had for Cartrette on this day at Super Duper Mart Stadium. The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud left-hander was in complete command, not allowing the Lexington Synths a single base hit in the 4-0 victory. "Obviously, you never think this will happen," he said to BNN reporters after the game. "I don't know if it's really sunk in yet." Cartrette faced 29 batters, had 10 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks in a dominating effort. "He was on from the get-go," Synths manager Sprole Races said. "He was hitting his spots and keeping us off balance. It was a great game by him." Season-to-date Cartrette has rung up 6 wins and 1 loss in 8 appearances. He has an ERA of 1.33 and has fanned 74 batters in 61 innings. David Driftwood's home run in the 2nd inning, his second straight game with a homer, proved to be the winning run. Andrew Nuka added his 11th homer in the 8th to tie for the NCA lead. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1612751733 13 May 2299 - Ghouls Pull Off Thrilling 2-0 Win in Extras The The Slog Ghouls racked up a win at Easy Town Field, bumping off the Easy Town Assaultrons, 2-0, in 19 innings. Dan Dozier, who started for The Slog, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, The Slog pushed its record to 20-9. Dozier allowed no runs over 11 innings. He also racked up 7 strikeouts. "For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Dozier. In the top of the 19th with Beanpole Callaway on the mound, Kareem Caravan reached on an error by left fielder ???. Oscar Armor then singled and Chris Shleedoodle then bunted both runners over. Callaway then threw a wild pitch to score Caravan and move Armor to third base. With two outs, and runners on the corners, David Tech came in to face Kyle Whale. However, he also threw a wild pitch to score the final run. 13 May 2299 - Warwick Whitewashes Goodneighbor, Weisman Winner Jerry Weisman of the Warwick Mirelurks toyed with the Goodneighbor Hancocks today, blanking them 4-0 at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. He was almost untouchable, baffling them on a 5-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts and no walks. "I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Weisman said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there." His record this season is 1-5 in 7 starts and Weisman has a 3.83 ERA. 13 May 2299 - Four Leafs Win at Nordhagen Beach, 4-1 Finch Farm and Nordhagen Beach duked it out and the Four Leafs came out victorious. Finch Farm Four Leafs starter Matt Pageturner turned in a top-notch performance against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The result was a win for the Four Leafs, 4-1. In 8 innings, Pageturner (6-1) surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Peter Tatoeater, the slugging third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tatoeater contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Finch Farm up, 2-1. "Winning the game is always the first objective," Tatoeater said. Matt Basile added a home run for the Leafs. Tommy Beach (3-4) suffered the loss after allowing four runs in 6.0 innings. With the win, the Four Leafs improved to 13-16. 13 May 2299 - 8-Run 12th Leads Swatters to Comeback Win Fans who congregated at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury were treated to extra-inning drama. Roxbury right fielder Young Goodman pounded Diamond City Swatters pitchers at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury, but it was not enough to keep the Knuckle Punchers from falling, 13-7. Goodman went 3 for 6 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Josh Samm snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. Wayne Lacy chipped in for Diamond City, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the right fielder was 3 for 7 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. "This team is on a mission," said Lacy, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus." Diamond City won in a wild 12th inning. With former 1st-overall pick Beachboy Nut on the mound for the Punchers, Tyler Ross hit a one-out double. After Gep was intentionally walked, Danny Suarez singled to load the bases. Nut then threw a wild pitch to score Ross. In the same at bat, Mike Grognak reached on an error scoring Gep for a 7-5 lead. Jim Uglyhair then singled in Suarez, and Mike Drummerboy doubled in Grognak for an 11-5 lead. After Oddyseus Blades came on in relief, Lacy hit a two-out, two-RBI double for a 13-5 lead. Wally Warwick then singled in Lacy and advanced to second on the throw in his second at bat of the inning. Ross then singled in Warwick to end the scoring. Roxbury scored two in the bottom of the 12th on Goodman's two-run blast of Nick Via. Gep and Allen Bishop both went deep for the Swatters. Diamond City now has a record of 23-6 with the win. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 14 May 2299 - Fort Hagen Shuts Out Lexington Again, 8-0 Today Silver Shroud pitcher Brent Hooker sparkled in a 3-hit shutout against the Lexington Synths at Super Duper Mart Stadium. He fanned 5 and walked 4 to help Fort Hagen post the 8-0 win. It was the second day the Synths were shut out after Mike Cartrette pitched a no-hitter yesterday. So far this season Hooker has a 5-1 record with a 3.02 ERA. Ben Pawlak led the Shroud in hits, going 3 for 4 with a walk, two runs, and an RBI. Mike Miller was 1 for 4 with a bases-clearing double, two walks, a run, and four RBI. Catcher Bixton Moore was 2 for 3 with a home run, a run, and three RBI. With the sweep, Fort Hagen now has a five-game lead over Starlight in the Minutemen League. Lexington falls to a 5th-place tie with Concord. 14 May 2299 - Islander, Quickwalker Batter Egret Big Time It doesn't happen very often, but it did for 2B Bubb Islander today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina and paced the Dwellers to a 13-5 win over the Egret Ninjas. After his dynamite batting performance, the Vault 81 second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Bubb Islander doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a sac fly in the 9th. This season Islander is hitting .372 with 51 hits, 1 home run, 13 RBIs, scored 29 runs and played in 30 games. Not to be outdone, RF Deer Quickwalker earned Game MVP honors thanks to his 4 for 4 day. He tripled, homered, walked, scored once, and drove in five, including three on his 4th-inning blast. 14 May 2299 - Multi-HR Game for Phillips in 7-5 Win The home crowd had a good time watching the Diamond City Swatters and Roxbury Knuckle Punchers get after it. The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers knocked off the Diamond City Swatters, 7-5, at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury, winning the weekend series 2 games to 1. Travis Phillips was a big reason Roxbury won. The shortstop hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Tyler Shuster picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 3-3. Phillips made an early impact for Roxbury when he stroked his 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the third, put the Knuckle Punchers on top, 5-2. In postgame comments to the Roxbury Gazette, Phillips said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come." The Knuckle Punchers move to 14-16 with the win, while the Swatters drop to 23-7, seven games up on red-hot Oberland. The Swatters fell to Roxbury today, even as 21-year-old left fielder Tyler Ross upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. Ross finished with 1 hit in 3 at-bats. "Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Ross. Ross flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a sac fly in the 8th. For the season Ross has hit .405 with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 30 games and scored 28 times. 14 May 2299 - Four Leafs Fall Short, 3-2, at Nordhagen Beach Nordhagen Beach rode a decent outing from starter Chet Arthur to victory over the Finch Farm Four Leafs. The final score was 3-2, helping the Party Boys from losing their second-straight weekend series to Finch Farm. Arthur picked up the win for Nordhagen Beach, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. The Party Boys have an impressive 20-10 record. Clux Oldstreet broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Party Boys in front, 3-2. For the game, Oldstreet drove in one run. "We found a way to get it done," Oldstreet said. Danny Honeycutt of the Leafs tagged 1 hit in today's loss to run his hitting streak to 20 straight games. "I realize it's unlikely to have a 20-game streak and not have a couple losses mixed in," he said later. "But it still takes the fun out of it." Honeycutt flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. In his stats this season, Honeycutt has posted a batting average of .370 with 44 hits in 119 at-bats, 6 home runs and 22 RBIs. He has also scored 21 runs, walked 7 times and compiled a .411 OBP. 14 May 2299 - Teflon Now 1-5 After Subduing Deathclaws Gwinnett Brewery Park hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel. The Atom Cats defeated the University Point Deathclaws, 2-0, in South Charles Association action at Gwinnett Brewery Park. Atom pitcher Sam Teflon had a standout performance. Chris Leggman closed it out for his 1st save. Teflon dominated for Atom, raising his record to 1-5. University Point hitters had few good at-bats against the right-hander, who scattered 3 hits over 8 innings while striking out 4. "Winning never gets dull," said Teflon. The score was 0-0 entering the top of the 8th before SS Jake Doucette went deep on Claws' pitcher William Radwater (1-4). Baywatch Fischler added a homer in the 9th off reliever Chase Southie. Radwater allowed just one earned run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 8.0 innings but still suffered the loss. The triumph makes Atom still at the bottom in the CBO at 7-23. University Point could not quite pull out the sweep, preventing them from a 5-0 week. They were on a four-game winning streak that followed a six-game losing streak. The loss drops the Claws to 16-14, four games back of Quincy in the Minutemen League wildcard race. |

The Nuka Tour Your introduction to Nuka-World and Bradberton by Evan Guy 15 May 2299 - Part 1: Kiddie Kingdom https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613663847 This story is lifted straight from a terminal. You can find it on the intranet at https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Kiddie_Kingdom 2050-2077: A “Magical Kingdom” One of the two original parks in Nuka-World, Kiddie Kingdom opened to the public along with Nuka-Town USA on May 1, 2050. The park was an instant hit with the visiting children, and continued to grow and develop as the park expanded, centered around offering more fun than one could enjoy in just a single day. Magician Oswald the Outrageous was the headliner of the park, with tickets to his spectacular shows selling out for the day within a few hours of the park's opening each day.[3] Still, the Ferris Wheel was a timeless classic and visitors of all ages enjoyed relaxing and taking in all the sights Nuka-World had to offer. 2077-2288: The Great War Unlike most survivalist settlements, Kiddie Kingdom was first conceived at a party for Rachel Watkins, who got a job in the park as Princess Cherry. Agreeing to take over the park if the Sino-American War turned especially sour, instead of sealing the deal with a handshake, the employees passed a round of shots. In less than a year,[5] Oswald and Rachel had adequately stocked up the employee tunnels beneath this park, including everything from preserved food and seeds, to tools, extra lumber and even water from the pump systems. It was just about everything, except for weapons, that was Mitchel's job. On October 23rd, 2077, the Chinese finally dropped the bombs, and all the employees stuck to the plan. However, they were not able to talk sense into all of the park visitors, but they were able to grab a few out of the stampede and take refuge in the employee tunnels. One week later, with the survivors already having written him off as dead, Mitchel finally appeared in a semi-truck half full of guns, explosives, food, medicine, chemicals and more; he reported he had simply been busy gathering the rest of what the employees would need to fortify Kiddie Kingdom. When Oswald asked him about it (and the blood on his shirt) Mitchel deflected and told Oswald to leave it alone. They then decided to blow up the service tunnel passages connecting to the other areas of the park as a precaution; additionally, if things did not calm down in the next few weeks, they would head outside and barricade the gates. The fighting outside indeed calmed down, so they decided to leave the employee tunnels and divided the Kingdom among themselves for living accommodation, and that it would be prudent to fortify the park regardless. Just as they were finishing up barricading the gates, a strange storm started to blow in over the horizon to the east. They barely had time to finish, and when it hit, it hit hard. It was unlike anything they had seen before, almost like a tornado with green lightning arcing through the sky. They all ended up taking shelter where they could, but a few people just got sucked into the vortex and disappeared forever. The storm took hours to pass over, trapping those that took shelter where they were. The storm was highly radioactive, most likely picking up the fallout from Boston and everyone was experiencing radiation poisoning for weeks. Quite a few died and those who did not were mutating into ghouls, something their preparedness videos never mentioned. After the storm passed, the survivors finished setting up the defenses. Although the situation was bad, it was getting a little better. It was at this time Rachel (because of her background in organic chemistry) became their unofficial doctor, and Oswald stepped up and became the leader of the community. Within those first few weeks after the Great War they were attacked for the first time. The group that attacked was not particularity big, nor were they as well-armed as those of Kiddie Kingdom. However, they were exceedingly desperate, and they fought ferociously. The attack ended with the survivors of Kiddie Kingdom being successful. Within the first few months since the radiation storms started twenty-three people have died, and the rest had completed their mutation into ghouls. One year after the Great War, in the middle of the night an alarm woke the refugees, the water intake pipes were taking in radioactive (and practically glowing) water from the outside. They had all heard the rumors about Nuka-World having some sort of reactor in the bottling plant and suspected it was for that new soda Nuka-Cola Quantum. Their assumptions were completely correct but at this point, it did not matter now that they all believed they were immune to radiation. Years later, they were attacked by a huge mob that managed to make it past the defenses and almost to the castle when Fran Fowler had an epiphany: the community was "immune" to radiation but the attackers probably were not. She ran into the tunnels and turned on the park's sprayers. In minutes, the attack was over. When her ex-boyfriend Evan heard it was her who figured it out, he kissed her until she couldn't see straight; needless to say, they got back together. This strategy continued for decades: groups continued to investigate the park from time to time but they were mostly scared off by the ghouls and their clown makeup, or the radioactive misters. However, over a hundred years passed before something they began calling "The Affliction" started sweeping through their people; the radiation had taken its toll and began to turn them feral, developing an insatiable hunger for flesh and become excessively aggressive. It eventually got worse and worse and the community looked to Rachel to figure out some way of healing them. Despite trying every remedy she knew of, she was unable to treat it. At this point, they knew what it was and when it was coming. Some were naturally afraid they were all going to end up as feral beasts, having to be locked away to prevent them from mindlessly attacking people. Part of the community even suggested putting the afflicted out of their misery, but the notion was rejected almost immediately. This community had become a family; family does not kill family, they find a cure, even if the chances look grim. Even after they had survived radiation storms, starvation, and attacks for over a hundred years, it would be feralization that ultimately ended their settlement. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613663847 Rachel's childhood friend Fran would also eventually succumb to "the affliction," leaving Rachel distraught and hating their home. However, the affliction soon proved its worth; after Fran had succumbed to it, there was a huge attack on the park that pushed the community all the way back to the castle gate; when they were about to retreat into the theater, feral ghouls climbed out of the woodwork and pushed the invaders back.[22] This raid also prompted Oswald (now a glowing one) to practice some of his newfound "magical" talents. Dean Becker had been shot by a stray bullet and fearing the loss of another one of them, Oswald snapped, sending out a wave of energy that caused Dean to start breathing again; his mutation had allowed him to heal his comrades, which opened the door for the potential of using it to cure the affliction. However, in 2286, a new gang of raiders led by Overboss Colter, larger than any other group the community had seen thus far, seized Nuka-Town USA.[24] It was also around this time that Rachel suggested that either she or Oswald break from the group in order to search for a cure for the Affliction elsewhere; Oswald was hesitant at first, unsure as to whether or not the community could survive with half the amount of leadership, but even his powers were unable to cure it. Shortly after the discussion, she left for the ruins of Bradberton, hoping to find leads to follow. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613663857 Over a year went by without word from Rachel; prospects looked increasingly worse for Kiddie Kingdom, with the castle walls crumbling and no one left in the park beside Oswald and his afflicted comrades. Ignorant that the affliction had taken over Rachel as well, no sooner than when she finally reached the town of Bradberton, Oswald continued looking over the park as he had for centuries before, keeping scavengers and raiders out with dense radioactive fog and shambling, painted Afflicted. 2288-2299: Where Kids Can Dream Kiddie Kingdom is fairly confined and maze-like, with Oswald having turned it into a gauntlet for anyone foolish enough to enter. The entire area is covered in a radioactive haze, courtesy of the radioactive misters, and can get up 37 rads per second right next to the misters. The best course of action is to run from landmark to landmark, starting with the Ferris wheel and not tarrying too long in any one place, as the radiation stacks quickly. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613663857 The first arena's exit is north of the Ferris wheel; an exit to Nuka-World is to the west while the second arena lies in the east. This arena surrounds the ice cream parlor at the center of the Kiddie Kingdom (the doorway has a turret above, alternatively, the player character can enter through the bakery shop). The area connects to the Fun House and is circled by the Nuka-Racers. South of the Nuka-Racers, flanking a rotating Nuka-Cola bottle ride, are doors to the employee tunnels. They can also be accessed by following the Nuka-Racers track through a tunnel in the castle to an alcove with the door. King Cola's Castle and the tower by it, with the Cappy clue, lies in the eastern side of the park, and can be accessed from the central arena with the roundabout, or by jumping up the cliffs from the Fun House. The upper terrace connects directly to King Cola's Castle. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613663847 From the south entrance, taking the park path visitors can see the Teacups ride on the right and ahead can see the Ferris Wheel. Past the first gingerbread house is the Blast Off! ride. Turn left there and make another left where the park map is, then go up the stairs past a fountain and the bridge for the Nuka Racers is where one can find the Nuka Rockets ride. East from there are Nuka-mixer stations right in front of the Fun House. Starting from the Blast Off! ride visitors can navigate around some scales and towards the ride's exit. From there, due south is the entrance to the employee tunnels, and to the west is the path to King Cola's Castle. Heading west from the Blast Off! ride's exit, up the stairs, and to the left is the Nuka Zapper Race where one can earn Nuka-Cade tickets. Past the Nuka Zapper Race and up the stairs to the right one can see the carousel. Staying on the park path turning left just before the castle moat, there is a red tower with pictures of lighthouses in it. Head up the stairs in that building to the top floor to find the hidden Cappy clue. Heading over the bridge into King Cola's Castle is a castle door. Making one's way up a set of stairs to the right is a bakery and to the left more stairs. Taking a left one can find another set of stairs. After that, a theater entrance to King Cola's Court and in front of that entrance yet another set of stairs leading to a bridge to King Cola's Castle Tower. From there take the other door to get to the other side of the tower. Taking this path will lead visitors to the backside of King Cola's Court. |

The Nuka Tour Your introduction to Nuka-World and Bradberton by Evan Guy 15 May 2299 - Part 2: Kiddie Kingdom Location: Kiddie Kingdom Stadium: King Cola Park at Kiddie Kingdom Team President: Oswald the Outrageous, nee Oswald Oppenheimer From terminal entry located at: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Oswald_the_Outrageous "Oswald is a non-feral glowing one living in Nuka-World's Kiddie Kingdom. . . . He has the same abilities as feral glowing ones in that he uses bursts of radiation to heal and revive nearby feral ghouls. As a . . . magician employed by Nuka-World, Oswald believes his ability to resurrect dead ghouls to be genuine magic. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613839195 "Oswald is one of the original survivors from a band of employees that took shelter in Kiddie Kingdom during the bombing and immediate fallout from the Great War. After time had passed, the entire group began changing into ghouls due to radiation leaking in. One by one, the survivors began turning feral, leaving Oswald and Rachel as the last non-feral ghouls in Kiddie Kingdom. He takes on a role as a protector of his former friends, strongly believing that being a feral ghoul is a sickness (that he and the other survivors via terminal entries call "the Affliction") that can be cured. He is in wait of one of the other original survivors, Rachel, whom he believes will return with the cure someday." Team Nickname: Painted Ghouls From: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Feral_ghoul_(Fallout_4) "Painted ghouls are found in Kiddie Kingdom and are painted in bright colors by Oswald the Outrageous, usually with forced smiles or bright eyes." https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613839195 They are a form of feral ghouls that are now declawed and toothless so that they cannot fatally attack visitors and employees. They do sometimes tackle kids, which causes an injury here and there. Feral ghouls are "former humans who have become horribly irradiated by the radioactive fallout covering the wasteland from the Great War. Many ghouls are pre-War humans who survived the initial nuclear bombardment. Becoming permanently irradiated, they were disfigured and their lifespans were increased virtually indefinitely. In most cases, exposure to radiation in the post-War Commonwealth wastes degenerated their brains, causing them to lose their higher cognitive functions, turning them into mindless, radiation-resistant cannibals." Team Photo https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1613839195 Players to Watch 1B Ham Porter - .244/2/7 The first overall pick in the Inaugural Draft, Porter is considered to be among the most talented NWL players and a potential future ascender into the CBO. Currently the Grape team leader in batting average (12th in the NWL), Porter is considered a good all-around hitter that can help lead one of the better hitting teams in the league (4th at .184 batting average) with the best power (25 home runs for 1st in NWL). SP Melvin Ceja - 2-2, 3.15 Drafted in the 4th round, Ceja is a good talent with a strong cutter and decent curveball. He may want to develop a third pitch to remain a starter once the NWL hitting starts to get better. He would project as a reliever in the CBO, but as a nearly 30-year-old, he will probably best be served in his hometown of Bradberton. SP Robert Stubbs - 4-1, 2.17 The 5th-round pick and the Painted Ghouls' ace, Stubbs may prove to be a formidable pitcher in the NWL. He needs to work on his movement, but he has a good array of fastball, slider, and changeup to keep hitters guessing. He is also considered to be a leader, so he can be a good, young anchor for the currently tied for first place team. RF Booby Rayburn - .181/3/5 The cleanup hitter and currently second on the team in home runs, Rayburn's best feature are his rock-solid biceps. He will never take over the clubhouse, but he lets his bat talk. Always swinging for the fence, the 28-year-old from Bradberton will likely play ball in the NWL and then return to his job as a Kiddie Kingdom strongman after his playing days are over. CL Jeremy Follett - 1-0, 1.65, 11 SV Follett signed with the Painted Ghouls in April after being released by the Finch Farm Four Leafs of the CBO after an undrafted free agency signing following the 2298 Rookie Draft. While he is the closer currently and leads the NWL in saves by five, he is probably best suited to move to the starter position to advance his return to the CBO. As a sidearmer, he has a good cutter and slider, though he really needs to work on getting those pitchers to nip the plate rather than move straight over the middle. That was the reason he was cut from the Four Leafs, but he has fooled NWL hitting early and often. |
Glad you and yours are ok. And from our point of view, it was worth the wait!
