The Nuka Tour Your introduction to Nuka-World and Bradberton by Evan Guy 29 May 2299 - Part 1: Safari Adventure This story is lifted straight from a terminal. You can find it on the intranet at https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Safari_Adventure, slightly altered to fit StLee's universe 2060-2288: Don't Want No Twelve Monkeys Safari Adventure was the area in Nuka-World, where the theme was centered around the safari and associated wildlife. When scientists attempted to clone the animals, an animal activist group known as the Animal Friends and Defenders kidnapped one of their top scientists, Dr. Hein, and held him hostage at the Angry Anaconda on the day of the Great War in an effort to put an end to the experiments. Only one person survived at the cloning facility, Dr. Darren McDermot. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614527326 After seeing scavengers in the park, McDermot worked to create a strong yet tameable species that would defend the facility, but created a violent subspecies of deathclaw, called the "gatorclaw" instead. McDermot was driven out of the facility as the cloning spiraled out of control, mass-producing gatorclaws and setting them loose into the park. This infestation has so far remained within the walls of Safari Adventure, but also prevented any settling, by traders or raiders, from taking place. Eventually Nate Howard helped an inhabitant named Cito. Cito was the son of Marcos and Imelda, two scavengers who were killed by super mutants when he was still young. His father was killed quickly but his mother escaped long enough to write a note asking the reader to look after her son before she succumbed to her injuries. He wandered for a time, before coming to the Safari Adventure park at Nuka-World, and was then raised by the ghoulrillas there. 2288-2299: A Zoo for All the Wasteland Creatures Following the purge of raiders, Nate and Cito did something different than just ridding Nuka-World and Bradberton of the deadly creatures throughout. They trapped them and put them on display in Safari Adventure. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614527326 Safari Adventure is made up of a few sections and features to adhere to their animal theme. Run by Cito and his animal-loving wife, Jane Porter, Safari Adventure has been a huge success in showing off the animals and creatures of the Commonwealth, at least the ones that Nate Howard and Cito have been able to wrestle back. Welcome Center: The center is used to direct visitors to various locations in the park. The Welcome Center's entrance leads to a gallery overlooking the main room, with stairs leading down to the main floor on either side of it. The room's middle is occupied by desks and its walls are lined with displays of various smaller critters. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614527326 Safari Adventure Reptile House: The entrance to the reptile house opens in a foyer with two entrances to the main room. The doors leads into the main room, which consists of a large pool surrounded by a cage. A gatorclaw resides in the pool. The eastern end of the main exhibit has a stairway leading to a lower area. A larger exhibit is on the northeastern wall. On the wall nearby is the reptile house tour guide terminal. Safari Adventure Primate House: The primate house was part of the Safari Adventure attraction at Nuka-World, where visitors could see a number of primates. It housed at least four gorillas, which are all now natural ghoulrillas. Cito, a man who was raised by the now-irradiated ghoulrillas after his parents died, called this area home before meeting Jane Porter and wanted to protect his family of ghoulrillas from the monsters outside. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614527335 Cappy's Treehouse: Getting to the elevator to the treehouse requires passing through the hedge maze around the base of the structure. The treehouse itself is composed of two levels with an open elevator platform. The top level features a bar counter and a balcony. On the lower level, a park medallion dispenser can be found. Jungle Journey Theater: The theater is a fairly open space consisting of stands and a broad stretch of dirt between them and the stage with some sparse decoration and props. Tourists can see controlled shows of various creatures, including Yao Guai, mole rats, and occasionally the ghoulrillas. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614527335 Angry Anaconda: This roller coaster was intended to be opened to the public in 2078, but was never completed due to the destruction of the United States in the Great War, just one year earlier in 2077. When the bombs fell, Dr. Hein was being held hostage by Chipmunk, Mouse, Rabbit, and Robin, members of the A.F.A.D. Both he and his captors were killed in the detonation. In early 2298, the roller coaster was finally completed and serves as the largest thrill ride in all of Nuka-World. |

The Nuka Tour Your introduction to Nuka-World and Bradberton by Evan Guy 29 May 2299 - Part 2: Safari Adventure Team name: Wild Gatorclaws https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614529067 Stadium: Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure Team President: Jane Porter, with VP Cito https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614529052 The young wife of Safari Adventure's iconic Cito, Jane Porter was the daughter of a trader enslaved by the raiders of Nuka-Town USA. Jane and her mother escaped the raid, and lived secretly in Littlewood, just southeast of Nuka-Town USA. After Operation Open Season, Jane and her mother returned to Nuka-Town USA to discover that her father was long dead. Jane later became interested in repopulating the Safari Adventure park with a living zoo. That is where she met and romanced Cito and they were married in the Safari Adventure Primate House. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614529052 While Cito is the King of the Safari, he does still struggle with communicating with people. Since he was raised by ghoulrillas through his formative years, Cito is not used to people and is a little more forward in his instincts than the common man. While this serves him well in the wild, Jane's influence is his balance. Together, they are a perfect pair and expect a son in the next month, whom they plan to name Clayton. Team Nickname: Gatorclaws From: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Gatorclaw Gatorclaws are genetically modified crocodilians that were created centuries after the Great War by Dr. Darren McDermot, a biologist working at the Safari Adventure Replication Facility. Left ghoulified by the radioactive fallout, he sustained himself using the Nuka-Gen Replicator to clone tissue samples and grow them for food. This kind of life went on for centuries until Dr. McDermot spotted a group of scavengers wander into Safari Adventure. Knowing that the Nuka-Gen Replicator couldn't fall into the wrong hands, McDermot became determined to create a specimen that could protect him, as well as the facility. Even after admitting that he was going against his better judgment, he spliced a few of the more dangerous tissue samples he had left in the refrigeration storage at the facility. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614529052 After a few years filled with mathematical and chemical research, he finally created something that could protect the Nuka-Gen Replicator: the gatorclaw. However, they could not be tamed as Dr. McDermot had hoped. They were too ferocious, impossible to control. Worse yet, McDermot was injured by the gatorclaws before he could shut the replicator down, leaving it intact and creating new gatorclaws at "an alarming rate." McDermot died of his wounds and recorded a final message pleading anybody to access the cloning lab and deactivate the replicator before it was too late. Identical in posture and general anatomy to a deathclaw, gatorclaws have minor external traits that reflect their alligator genetics. They have an elongated, sock-like head and no horns. Their back and tail are protected by heavy platelike scutes, lined on either side by dull spikes. Their claws are very short and more robust than their untampered counterparts. Their skin is a dull forest green, contrasting sharply with their pale grayish underbellies. They can sometimes be seen lying flat in the same manner that alligators do. Gatorclaws have no tongue. They have the same animation as deathclaws when they "taste" the air with their tongue, but the gatorclaw appears to just sniff the air. It has a glottis like a deathclaw. Team Photo https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1614529067 Players to Watch 1B Lackey Parkman (.275/1/10) The third overall pick in the 2299 Inaugural Draft, Parkman is a tough hitter in a league lacking offense. He has 11 extra-base hits, including 10 doubles. Parkman is highly intelligent and has a future in STEM once he leaves baseball, but he is also a gifted physical specimen at 6'5". He needs to work more on making contact, which will help him put more balls over the fence. If he increases his power, he very well could move up to the more-competitive CBO. SP Ike Like (6-1, 1.01) A free agent signing after being cut bu the Goodneighbor Hancocks in April, Like has taken a liking to NWL batters. The 32-year-old will probably not make his way back to the CBO/BMU, so he looks to be star in the NWL as long as he can pitch. He only has two pitches, but they are a strong fastball-changeup combination that keeps batters off balance. Like Parkman, he is intelligent and uses that intelligence to read batters. |
Great highlight this time around. I like how Nuka-World's stories are a bit more self-contained, and thus have both a nice start point but also closure. This one seemed to resonate well with me for some reason, and I don't particularly have a reason why. Safari attractions generally aren't my forte when it comes to amusement parks.

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 29 May 2299 - BMU: Exciting Game Between Strongbacks and Behemoths, Marketman Delivers Clutch GS for OZi in Walk-Off Win Well, that's how to end a game in style. Outpost Zimonja right fielder Matt Marketman contributed to his team's 14-10 win over the Breakheart Banks Behemoths. Marketman, who leads the CA in total bases with 86, went 3 for 7 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Strongbacks. With the win, the Strongbacks improved to 12-13. The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With two out, Marketman hit a slider from Erik Wipf for a grand slam home run. The Strongbacks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win. "We maximized our offense today," said Outpost Zimonja skipper David Troutman. "That makes everyone's life easier." Special Notes: Oscar Armor sets the CA regular season extra-inning game record for hits with 5. Steve Garbageman sets the CA regular season extra-inning game record for runs with 4. I really wish there were more modders out there fixing up the parks to be in working condition. I want to ride the roller coasters, man! It was what I was hoping to show when making the Nuka World League as part of the dynasty. I thought about making the stories more personalized to my dynasty, but I think manipulating the Wiki entries works in this case. I'll probably do something similar when Far Harbor gets its league. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 30 May 2299 - Marble Sharp in 6-0 Shutout Tristan Marble of the Lexington Synths spun his magic on the County Crossing Bloodbugs today. He blanked them 6-0 on 3 hits, registering 7 strikeouts and 1 walk. "The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Marble said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down." Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Lexington skipper Sprole Races said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations." "Tristan pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said. In 11 starts this season Marble has rung up a 3-4 record and a 3.79 ERA. 30 May 2299 - Koester Socks 2 Home Runs in 6-3 Concord Win The Concord Radstags downed the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 6-3. The hitting star was shortstop Sean Koester. Koester was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Radstags. Concord goes to 17-24, Nordhagen Beach to 28-13. Koester contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Concord in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Koester took a slider from Tommy Beach and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Radstags to leap in front, 3-1. Koester called the triumph "a good team win." Tommy Beach (5-5) suffered the loss despite giving up only one earned run. The problem was Beach gave up a total of four runs thanks to errors by Dustin Mart and Mike Swift. 30 May 2299 - Brahmin Leads Witch Hats to Win The performance of Ian Brahmin proved critical in helping Salem beat Starlight, 5-2. The Witch Hats third baseman went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dan Beantown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save. Salem is third in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League with a record of 18-23. Brahmin had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from City Moore, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Witch Hats a 5-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Brahmin. "We'll enjoy this win," said Brahmin. "But there's more we hope to accomplish." 30 May 2299 - Assaultrons Collect 4-3 Win Over Silver Shroud in 12 Easy Town Assaultrons starter Smoker Caliman was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 4-3. Fort Hagen has now lost 5 straight. The Assaultrons relied on right fielder Dan Squirrel for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal. Caliman called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder." 30 May 2299 - Swatters Top Mirelurks, 4-0, Behind Fusion The Diamond City Swatters picked up a win at The Great Green Jewel, knocking off the Warwick Mirelurks, 4-0. Starting pitcher Tim Fusion played a key role in the triumph. The win gives Diamond City a season record of 30-11. Fusion scattered 3 hits over 7.1 innings for the Swatters. With the win, Fusion moves to 7-2 on the year with 72 strikeouts. "I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Fusion. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 31 May 2299 - Roxbury Knuckle Punchers Ship Grogg to Diamond City The players apparently knew they were on the trading block, so it did not surprise one of them when he learned that he had been traded to Roxbury. "Got my bags packed already," he said, when reached for comment. The Knuckle Punchers will receive 19-year-old minor league RHP Jake Jennings and 20-year-old minor league LF Terry Cookbook, while 30-year-old LHP Kyle Grogg will go to the Diamond City Swatters. Grogg has taken the mound for 12 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 3-0 record with a 1.23 ERA. The reliever has limited opposing batters to a .157 batting average. 31 May 2299 - Finch Farm-Goodneighbor Trade: Pageturner for Kifer A trade between Finch Farm and Goodneighbor was made official this morning. The Four Leafs have sent 32-year-old ace RHP Matt Pageturner to the Hancocks in exchange for 21-year-old minor league RHP Jesse Fraud, 20-year-old minor league LHP Nick Kifer and 19-year-old minor league CF Arthur Blondeale. Thus far this season, Pageturner has tossed 75.2 innings in 11 starts, fanned 40 batters, walked 18 and put up a 3.81 ERA with 7 wins and 2 losses. 31 May 2299 - Rogers Pops Two Homers in 5-1 Win for Oberland Ginger Rogers knocked in 4 runs to help Oberland beat Atom, 5-1. Aaron Still earned the save for Oberland, his 11th of the year. With Oberland leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Rogers hit a slider from Boss Gentleman for a solo home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the T-51s ahead, 3-1. "We put it together today and came out with the win," Rogers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." With the win, Oberland upped its record to 24-18. Oberland third baseman Jeremy Bugs went 0-for-3 today in Oberland's 5-1 triumph over the Atom Cats, snapping his 22-game hitting streak. Bugs spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Bugs made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Cats manager Paul Stands said of Bugs's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." This season in 42 games, Bugs has hit at a .367 clip with 65 hits, 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 33 runs scored. 31 May 2299 - Ramos Powers Chemists to 9-6 Win Brightsun Ramos made an impact in the 9-6 Sunshine Tidings win over Finch Farm. Boston HS. The final score was 2-0. The Hancocks, at 30-12, have now won 4 straight. Oldsink delivered a quality start for Goodneighbor. The 6' 1" right-hander allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 8 innings of work. "Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager David Meatcook. 31 May 2299 - Islander Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Bubb Islander of the Vault 81 Dwellers has now hit safely in 20 straight games. He socked 2 hits in today's 14-4 triumph over Jamaica Plain at CURIE Inc. Field. "20 games is a big chunk of the year, isn't it?" Islander said to reporters. "It's hard to wrap your head around." Bubb Islander struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Currently Islander is hitting .372 and has collected 1 home run, 19 RBIs and scored 41 times, while playing in 42 games. 31 May 2299 - Fogcrawler goes 3-for-4, Party Boys Move to 29-13 The game between Nordhagen Beach and Concord is in the books, despite a little radrain. Michael Fogcrawler left his imprint on the 11-5 Nordhagen Beach win against the Concord Radstags. Fogcrawler, who is tied for 7th in the NCA with a .985 OPS, was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Nordhagen Beach now has a record of 29-13 with the win. Jonathan Angelou tagged a home run off Gwinnett Southie in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run blast put the Party Boys on top, 6-5. In all, Angelou had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5. In postgame comments to the Nordhagen Beach News, Angelou said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come." 31 May 2299 - Silver Shroud Win at Easy Town, 4-1 Brent Hooker pitched a gem to lead Fort Hagen to victory over the Easy Town Assaultrons, 4-1. Curtis Thriceshot was credited with the save for Fort Hagen, his 9th of the season. With the win, Fort Hagen raised its record to 27-15. Micah Morals provided a timely hit. The Fort Hagen third baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Silver Shroud on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count. "I had pretty good command out there," said Hooker. 31 May 2299 - Swatters Fell Mirelurks, 8-4, in Error-Filled Game Diamond City starter X10-44 Mannson pitched well against the Warwick Mirelurks at The Great Green Jewel. The grand slam home run came off Warwick pitcher Bobby Van Marter in the bottom of the eighth. "You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Mannson told the Diamond City News. The two teams combined for seven errors by seven different players. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2299 - NCA Honors Fogcrawler, #1 Batter in May At only 21 years of age, Michael Fogcrawler could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career. That would be great news for fans of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, as May was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .368 with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored. This year Fogcrawler has hit at a .325 pace and produced 30 RBIs, 9 home runs and scored 29 runs. 1 June 2299 - South Charles Association Selects May's Best Batter Bryan Benton made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Charles Association this past month. The Quincy Gunners left fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 21-year-old hit .402 with 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored. For the season Benton is batting .371 with 66 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 32 times and batted in 41. 1 June 2299 - Arthur NCA Winner, Top Hurler in May The May Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the North Charles Association award went to Nordhagen Beach hurler, Chet Arthur. During the month, Arthur was impressive with a 2.52 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 39.1 innings he struck out 27 and gave up 33 hits and 4 walks. This season Arthur has compiled a 5-1 record with a 3.07 ERA in 11 starts. 1 June 2299 - Gunners Hurler Named May's #1 Starter When Manny McDuff takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in May. The outcome was usually a Quincy victory. His fine 5-1 performance earned him the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy. The talented Gunners hurler made 5 starts, worked 41 innings, permitted 40 base hits, and struck out 35 while putting up a 1.98 ERA. This year McDuff has a 10-1 record and a 2.23 ERA. 1 June 2299 - NCA Selects Rookie Star of the Month Nasty Byrd is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In May the Lexington hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .264 average with 19 hits, 1 home run and 8 RBIs. Thus far this season in 21 games Byrd is batting .280 with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 23 hits in 82 at-bats. 1 June 2299 - South Charles Association Names Rookie of Month Youngster Oren Gep emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Diamond City deserved the honor, batting .205 with 6 home runs and 16 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Gep enjoy the limelight. This year Gep is batting .228 with 37 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 19 times and has batted in 26 runs. 1 June 2299 - BMU: Pushard of Mystic Pines CA Batter of the Month Mystic Pines Raybathers fans believe they've got a talented young star in Mike Pushard. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .444 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. 1 June 2299 - BMU: MA Batter of the Month Honors to Roux It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Casey Roux has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Somerville Place Sentry Bots star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .365 average with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored. 1 June 2299 - BMU: May's Top Starter is Sweet Chad Sweet has made fans throughout Boston Minor Union take notice over the past month with an exceptional 3-0 record. No pitcher in the Commonwealth Association threw better in May, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today. In 4 starts Sweet compiled a 0.71 ERA, putting up a 3-0 record, striking out 31 and tossing 25.1 innings. 1 June 2299 - BMU: MA Premier Pitcher is Haymarket Mall's Capps In May, R.J. Capps tore through the Massachusetts Association like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 20 years old. The young Haymarket Mall starter posted a 3-0 mark and an ERA of 1.30 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 27.2 innings he collected 28 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .194 average. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2299 - Raider Attack on Outpost Zimonja Leaves Destruction, Deaths An early evening raider attack on Outpost Zimonja left many injured and seven dead, including one player from the Strongbacks of the Boston Minor Union. Minutemen security was unable to capture the group but was able to end the attack, with the large raiders group seen fleeing north. A Brotherhood of Steel strike force has been called in to search out the area for the headquarters of the raider group. In all, six players on the Strongbacks were hit in the firefight. Following the team's 7-5 loss to Breakheart Banks, Outpost Zimonja position players met in right field to discuss the game. That is when a series of grenades and mininukes were launched against the north wall of the settlement. A group of raiders then stormed the settlement, including the nearby Drumlin Diner Picnic Park stands where they fired upon everyone near the field, including the Strongbacks players. All six players hit by bullets played either infield of outfield. All pitchers and catchers, as well as coaches, were able to barricade themselves in the clubhouse. LF Reggie Jones was killed. The injured were 1B Shane LeTato, 1B Joe Provisioner, 3B Jeff Luka, LF Steve Garbageman, and RF Kyle Manta. All will miss some time due to the severity of their injuries. Luka's injuries are considered life-threatening. The attack came approximately 30 minutes after the end of the game at about 9:20 PM. Before the attack happened, much of the Minutemen security force had moved away from the north wall to tend to the departing caravan of visitors and players for the Behemoths team. This made it appear that the attack was carefully planned for when security was most distracted from patrolling the northern wall. Outpost Zimonja mayor Blackjack Tellman was unavailable for comment. A spokesperson representing the mayor called the events "tragic and unfortunately too much like old times." Strongbacks manager David Troutman was visibly upset when approached by a Publick Occurrences stringer. He did not want to be interviewed but told our stringer, "Keep our settlement in your thoughts. We lost players, we lost children, we lost our best cook at Drumlin. This is terrible." |
Man, I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence, but it does provide the spice. I guess this is a universe where you have to think about how to handle disasters and like, though generally we've not seen something like this before.

There are going to be some story-generated follow-ups to this story, but the next roll indicated that no further attacks would be successful. This mysterious Lt. Green needs to be explored more, though. Hatchet is about to show her hand, the big dummy. |

Edit: And you know, had an afterthought - I think what leaves a bad aftertaste for me is that there's only ONE mininuke, so you can't even loot one after you get your surprise. |

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 June 2299 - BMU: Outpost Zimonja to Delay Series The Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks are scheduled to play at the College Square Nerd Ragers next week, but they will delay their departure by two days to help the settlement after a deadly raider attack killed seven people, including one member of the Strongbacks. Strongbacks pitching coach Mike Storey said that the team would start its series on Thursday, June 8, instead of the scheduled Tuesday, June 6 date. The teams will complete their series on Saturday. "We're ready to play but have some business first," Storey said. "Our community needs us right now, so we're going to focus on cleaning this place up and helping to rebuild our wall." Manager David Troutman was not available for comment, but he was seen assisting at the Brightsun Clinic that serves the Outpost Zimonja settlement. There, five players are being tended to, as well as others injured in the blast. "We know Commissioner Howard contacted [owner] Mr. Wiseman and [General Manager] Plop [Wyman] about canceling the games, but we don't want that," Storey said. "We want to heal, and we want to play. And if we need to, we'll fight those raiders, too." 2 June 2299 - BMU: Sentry Bots' Pitchfork to Receive Treatment, Skip Road Trip Somerville Place Sentry Bots SP Mike Pitchfork is going to stay in Somerville Place this week instead of traveling to Boston Common due to an unspecified illness suspected to be a virus. A rather bad radstorm passed through Somerville Place two days ago, and Pitchfork was seen coughing and wheezing following being caught outside. He was treated with RadAway but his cough remained after the storm. Sentry Bots manager Limp Durn said that they would give Pitchfork some rest. In seven starts, the 3rd-round pick in the 2298 Rookie Draft is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA in 30.0 innings pitched. Third starter Edward Waddle (2-1) will start in Pitchfork's place on Wednesday, while Danny Bell (1-2) will get the rare start on Thursday. 2 June 2299 - Starlight Lady Killers Ship Beebe to Jamaica Plain, Get Seaweed to Replace Him The Lady Killers and the Red Rockets finalized a deal this morning. Starlight has traded for 21-year-old RF David Seaweed and 31-year-old 2B Alec Bullets and in return Jamaica Plain will receive 30-year-old minor league RHP Calvin Kuhl, 20-year-old minor league RHP Chad Sweet, 20-year-old minor league CF Geminy Grasshopper, 20-year-old RF Damani Beebe and 21-year-old 2B Wild Cannon. In the current season, Beebe has put up a .303 batting average with 40 hits, 9 home runs, 27 RBI and scored 21 runs. He led the Railroad League in 2297 with 24 home runs, 85 RBI, and a .716 Slugging Percentage while a member of the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers. Seaweed is presently hitting at a .315 pace with 8 home runs, 38 RBIs and has scored 25 times. He was the 2296 recipient of the Minutemen League's General MVP Award. 2 June 2299 - Gunners Spoil Great Performance by Erickson The Quincy Gunners weathered an outstanding game by Jamaica Plain shortstop Aaron Erickson to topple the Red Rockets, 12-6. Erickson was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Ray Human was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 10 strikeouts. With the victory, the Gunners upped their record to 26-17. Human (4-4) dealt the Red Rockets a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Quincy leading 3-2, Human, who is tied for 4th in the SCA with a 9.0 K/9 rate, hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. "We've got a great group of guys," Human said, "and we're having fun right now." 2 June 2299 - Sarnacki Now 2-6 After Subduing Adamantium Bill Sarnacki never let the Adamantium get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Chemists to a win, 2-1. The Chemists raised their record to 19-24. Sarnacki, who dominated for Sunshine Tidings, earned the victory to move to 2-6. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 10. Abernathy batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally. Sarnacki said his team "played with determination." 2 June 2299 - Schoolboy Excels, But Mirelurks Win The home crowd had a good time watching the Atom Cats and Warwick Mirelurks get after it. Despite a great performance by Atom left fielder Jeremy Schoolboy, the Warwick Mirelurks defeated the Cats by the score of 10-9 at The Homestead. Schoolboy belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The Mirelurks sport a record of 17-26. Jonathan Sapplicker hit a 3-run home run off Jesse Emacipated in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Mirelurks ahead, 6-3. In addition to the homer, Sapplicker had 1 double, while going 2 for 3. "It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Old Man Langford. 2 June 2299 - Arch Sizzles -- Smokes T-51s for 5 Hits Noah Arch was on fire today and sparked his club to a 8-6 victory over the T-51s. The FHE center fielder was a tough out and went 5-for-5 against Oberland in a fine hitting display. "I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody and some days they fall in." Noah Arch singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th. This season Arch is batting at a .395 clip with 5 home runs and 33 RBIs. Prof Castillo and David Kiwi got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Oberland T-51s and FHE Yao Guai. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. After the game, the league office notified the ballclubs that Castillo will have to sit out 4 while Kiwi would be given a 5-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. For the year Castillo has hit at a .274 clip with 26 RBIs, 4 home runs and 24 runs scored. In pitching stats this season Kiwi has rung up 1 win and 4 losses in 11 games. He has an ERA of 7.83 and has fanned 29 batters in 54 innings. 2 June 2299 - Down Go Knuckle Punchers Again, 11-8 Dustin Bowfiddle led Egret to a win over Roxbury. The final score was 11-8. Bowfiddle scored 2 times, while going 4 for 5. The second baseman also was credited with 2 RBI. Andy Helium collected his 10th save. The slumping Knuckle Punchers have dropped 7 in a row. Currfel Tick, the Egret shortstop, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 4-2, Ninjas. For the game, Tick was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. "It's nice to come out on top today," said Bowfiddle. After an intense confrontation, both the Knuckle Punchers' Tim Hardman and the Ninjas' Surrender Hendrickson were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Roxbury-Egret game. Hardman will miss 3 games, while Hendrickson was suspended for 7 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Hardman commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." Hendrickson's record so far this season is 0-and-2 with no saves and a 10.22 ERA. He has given up 21 hits in 12.1 innings with 8 strikeouts. 2 June 2299 - Silver Shroud Top Synths, 11-1, Behind Green The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud topped the Lexington Synths, 11-1, in North Charles Association action at Hubris Comics Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Fort Hagen pitcher Derek Green. Fort Hagen is now 28-15, 2½ games up in the North Charles Association Institute League. Green, now 5-1, scattered 4 hits over 8 innings for the Silver Shroud. "For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Green. Seth Dungan and Jim Tiller accounted for three hits apiece, including a home run (10) by Tiller. Ben Pawlak had two hits including a homer (5). Sam Noob and Seemore Mares also had two hits, all doubles. Of the Shroud's 17 hits, eight were for extra bases. 2 June 2299 - Party Boys Upend Four Leafs, 5-2 A 3-RBI performance from Jonathan Angelou, who is tied for 3rd in the NCA with a .432 on-base percentage, helped the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys beat the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 5-2. Derek Gist, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Night Demon Archacki locked down his 17th save. With Nordhagen Beach leading 3-2 in the top of the third, Angelou came up to bat against Finch Farm pitcher Blaine Phrasemaker. Angelou hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Party Boys on top, 5-2. "We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Angelou said. The win gives Nordhagen Beach a season record of 30-13. 2 June 2299 - Dwellers Earn 8-7 Win Versus Swatters The Diamond City Swatters got a superb performance from second baseman Danny Suarez, but the Vault 81 Dwellers still won the game, 8-7. Suarez was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tom Sweeney, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Vault 81, at 19-24, holds down 4th place in the South Charles Association Railroad League. Vault 81 took a 8-7 lead on Skyler Pickpocket's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run pinch-hit home run came off Diamond City pitcher Kyle Grogg in the bottom of the eighth. "I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Pickpocket. "And not try to do too much." |
Yeah, it boggles the mind just how much content is in these games (and that's even with the complaining that the amount of content has been downsized compared to past games!) For all intents and purposes, you have probably *infinite* plot threads to draw from when crafting the story! They should make a documentary sometime about the design process of a Bethesda game (maybe Skyrim though).
