Yeah, it boggles the mind just how much content is in these games (and that's even with the complaining that the amount of content has been downsized compared to past games!) For all intents and purposes, you have probably *infinite* plot threads to draw from when crafting the story! They should make a documentary sometime about the design process of a Bethesda game (maybe Skyrim though).

Indeed, there is a lot of story as well as lore for both. I always loved reading the books in The Elder Scrolls games, just like I enjoy reading terminals in Fallout.

3 June 2299 - BoS Counterstrikes Raider Base

A Brotherhood of Steel strikeforce penetrated the raider base called Blue Rock, killing or capturing all of its inhabitants. The raider boss of the base, a mean daughter-of-a-***** named Hatchet, was lost in the battle.

In all 16 raiders were killed and seven were captured. A spokesperson for the BoS said that the captured raiders would be interrogated for more information on the attack that killed seven inhabitants of Outpost Zimonja, including Strongbacks ballplayer Reggie Jones. Two more injured have since died, bringing the total to nine.

Strongbacks third baseman Jeff Luka is in critical but stable condition following an emergency surgery from a team of doctors after being transported via vertibird to Medford Memorial Hospital.

Also seriously injured but recovering in Outpost Zimonja's Brightsun Clinic was 1B Joe Provisioner. He has had a season of bad fortune. The worst of it was that he was just sent down to the Strongbacks on Thursday after having returned from injury with The Slog where he also started 28 games at 1B. On that day, he had a good premier game, going 2 for 5 with a run scored before being shot three times, twice in his right leg and once in his side.

Settlers, volunteers, Minutemen, and BoS members are all working to repair the damaged wall, as well as improving infrastructure to make the fortifications more resilient to smaller explosives like frag grenades and missiles. Extra supplies have also been sent via Wicked Shipping's working rig. Those arrived early this morning.

The Strongbacks' team will continue to help with what needs to be done in Outpost Zimonja, but they are expected to travel to College Square on Tuesday for the series that has been delayed to Thursday, June 8.

3 June 2299 - Lacy Excels, But Dwellers Win

The Vault 81 Dwellers had to overcome a big game from Diamond City right fielder Wayne Lacy to leave CURIE Inc. Field with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Lacy hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Edwin Mass got the win, improving to 3-6. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Vault 81 has now won 3 in a row.

Making an impact for the home team was Chris Van Benschoten. In the bottom of the fifth, the 21-year old left fielder had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 5-2, Dwellers.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Vault 81 manager Jason Personhood said afterward.

3 June 2299 - Party Boys Win, 4-0, at Finch Farm

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys picked up a win at Finch Family Park, knocking off the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 4-0. On the mound for Nordhagen Beach was right-hander Aaron Demps, who played a pivotal role in the win. Demps got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Demps allowed no runs. Nordhagen Beach now has a 3-game win streak.

The Four Leafs had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Party Boys going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old right fielder Jonathan Angelou came to the plate. Angelou hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-1 splitter from Finch Farm hurler Chad Behr. It was Angelou's 2nd triple of the year.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Demps said after the game.

3 June 2299 - 3-2 Loss to Ninjas Extends Roxbury Losing Streak

The Egret Ninjas picked up a win at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina, taking down the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Nick Poppa was a big reason why. Andy Helium closed the door for Egret, picking up his 11th save of the year. This loss makes it 8 in a row for Roxbury.

Poppa (3-6) allowed two runs on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 8.0 innings.

Crops Gerdenheimer, who is tied for 6th in the SCA in bases on balls with 22, chipped in for Egret with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.

"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Gerdenheimer.

3 June 2299 - Synths Top Silver Shroud to Even Record

Lexington starter Greg Mardis pitched well against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Hubris Comics Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. Lexington now has a record of 22-22 with the win.

Jeffrey Curatolo helped out the Lexington cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with a triple.

Lexington 2B Pat Cambridge led all hitters, going 3 for 4 with a triple--one of three for the Synths--two runs and an RBI.

"Greg just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Lexington manager Sprole Races.

Andrew Nuka led the Shroud with a 2 for 3 performance with a run and an RBI. His RBI was a sacrifice fly. Matt Hope (6-2) suffered the loss.

4 June 2299 - More Injury Problems For Nordhagen Beach's Julian Shed

Fans hoping to see Nordhagen Beach Party Boys starting pitcher Julian Shed back in action will have to be a little more patient since Shed is expected to miss another 4 days of action. The player's rehabilitation has not gone as well as expected. Shed is recovering from a strained back muscle.

To date this season Shed is 3-4 with 9 starts and an ERA of 4.24 with 34 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.

4 June 2299 - BMU: Injury Derails Season for Nomad

After several days of waiting for test results, bad news was delivered to Supe Nomad today. The Haymarket Mall reliever will be out the rest of the year due to a fractured elbow he suffered on 06/01/2299.

Nomad has pitched 16.1 innings and molded a 4.96 ERA with no saves. He has surrendered 17 hits while registering 8 strikeouts on his way to a 0-1 record for the Commandos this year.

4 June 2299 - Iddings Shines, Shuts Out University Point, 5-0

The University Point Deathclaws had no answer today for Goodneighbor Hancocks pitcher Bruce Iddings. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 5-0. University Point managed only 5 hits off Iddings, who had 7 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Iddings got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Hancocks fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

To this point in the season Iddings has 7 wins and 4 losses and a 3.24 ERA.

Bryan Assman led the Hancocks in hitting, going 3 for 4 with a home run (10), a run, and four RBI. His homer was a three-run shot off Quentin Malone (4-5).

4 June 2299 - Rome, Yao Guai Get 7-0 Win

The FHE Yao Guai picked up a win at BosCom Circle, knocking off the Oberland T-51s, 7-0. Starting pitcher Bow Rome played a key role in the triumph. The 'W' lifts FHE's record to 19-26.

Rome was in the zone all game. He frustrated Oberland hitters while giving the Yao Guai 8.1 innings of quality work. Rome threw 117 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 7 punchouts.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Rome.

4 June 2299 - Cartrette Now 7-2 After Subduing Synths

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud topped the Lexington Synths, 5-1, in North Charles Association action at Hubris Comics Park. The standout performance belonged to Fort Hagen pitcher and Boston, Massachusetts, native Mike Cartrette. The triumph puts Fort Hagen at 29-16 for the season.

The Synths had little chance against Cartrette, who overpowered Lexington hitters and struck out 10.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen.

Ben Pawlak powered the Shroud offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI. Jim Tiller hit his 11th home run, a two-run shot.

4 June 2299 - Beach Lays Hammer Down in 9-2 Win

Nordhagen Beach Party Boys starter Tommy Beach was on his game, helping his team beat the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 9-2. The losing streak for Finch Farm has now reached 4 games after being swept by the #1 Party Boys.

Beach went the distance for Nordhagen Beach, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 10.

"I like our moxie," said Party Boys manager Craig Robinson.

Ryan Combs and Jon Hitman each had three hits for Nordhagen Beach. Combs had two doubles and Hitman had one. Dustin Mart hit his 10th home run of the season to lead the team.

4 June 2299 - Swatters Top Dwellers, 5-1, Behind Fusion

The Diamond City Swatters racked up a win at CURIE Inc. Field, bumping off the Vault 81 Dwellers, 5-1. Tim Fusion, who started for Diamond City, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, Diamond City upped its record to 32-13.

Fusion's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 9 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 5 hits. Fusion, who is tied for 3rd in the SCA in strikeouts with 81, goes to 8-2 on the year with 81 strikeouts.

"We'll savor this win," Fusion told the Diamond City News, "then get ready for the next game."

Rookie Oren Gep was 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs, and three RBI. Wally Warwick was 3 for 5 with a double and two runs.

Well, well, well. Rumor no more. This took a while to process because there was a lot to process. In the end, the Party Boys were best served by giving up their first-ever player. It gives them the best chance to win it all.

5 June 2299 - Nordhagen Beach-University Point Make Major Trade

It's the major deal that has everyone talking. The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and University Point Deathclaws have reached an agreement. The Party Boys will swap 22-year-old RF Tomas Jones and a 5th round draft pick for 33-year-old RHP Tom Mannequin, 19-year-old RHP David Kidd, 20-year-old minor league CF Ralph DeYoe, 19-year-old minor league LHP Chris Essary and a 2nd round draft pick.

"It's a huge shakeup," noted one reporter. "You don't see deals like this every day. A lot had to go right for this to happen."

Currently Jones is batting .270 with 17 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 9 runs and scored 6 times. After suffering an injury, Jones was replaced with Jonathan Angelou who has exploded to a .341 average with 8 home runs and 32 RBI.

"I know it's a shock to everybody," Party Boys general manager Brendan Kneecapped said. "We will miss Tomas tremendously, but we want to win a championship, and we felt getting some pitching depth in Mannequin and Kidd and an outfield prospect was the best move for us.

This season Mannequin has been credited with 5 saves. In 18 relief appearances and 20 innings he has a 2-1 won-lost mark, a 1.35 ERA and 16 strikeouts. Kidd has pitched in 11 games, registering a 1-0 mark with a 6.86 ERA in 19.2 innings.

Nordhagen Beach will send relievers Dave Barker and Drama Miller to Greentop Nursery to make room for their new relievers.

5 June 2299 - Koester Takes This Week's Trophy

So far in his young career, Sean Koester has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the North Charles Association in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 22-year-old Concord Radstags shortstop hit at a torrid .480 clip as he collected 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

This season Koester has banged out 66 hits in 205 at-bats for a .322 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .349 pace and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

5 June 2299 - Erickson Selected Player of the Week

Aaron Erickson has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 19-year-old shortstop of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Erickson batted .450 with 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.

This season Erickson is batting .278 with 6 home runs. He has scored 14 runs and driven in 20.

5 June 2299 - CBO: The Slog to Retire #18

The Slog Ghouls organization has decided that the #18 would be kept as a memory of the tragedy that happened in Outpost Zimonja this week. LF Reggie Jones was one of nine dead at Outpost Zimonja this week. Another player, 3B Jeff Luka, was critically injured, but reports out of Medford Memorial Hospital in Malden have indicated he is out of danger but will probably not play again in 2299.

"We're going to retire #18 in honor of Reggie Jones," Ghouls GM Plop Wyman said. "It is our wat of honoring him through this tragedy."

Obviously, there's some emotion here, as Jones has been a part of the Party from Day 1, but it's a trade that had to happen, I feel. His injury and - especially - the arrival of Jonathan Angelou make this a good deal for the Boys. Obviously, I wish him well, but not when he's playing against NB - I don't want to find myself referring to him as Tomas Effing Jones!! :D

He'll benefit from being the man in the OF in University Point, and the Boys will benefit by getting two good relievers, assuming the 33-year-old Mannequin does not figuratively fall off a cliff like many mid-30s pitchers do in OOTP. Maybe that's why the AI was happy in this trade?

3 Attachment(s)
Analysis

Week 9 saw the least change as far as big jumps up and down the Power Rankings as only Finch Farm (-5) made a jump up or down higher than three spots. Unfortunately for the Four Leafs, their sweep at the hands of #1 Nordhagen Beach and split with Sunshine Tidings dropped them down to #23 in our rankings.

The Party Boys remain at the top, highlighted this week that saw them make a huge move in trading their 2296 Inaugural Draft 1st-round pick, Tomas Jones, to the University Point Deathclaws (#8) for a couple of relievers. The Boys are stacked and primed to be in a position to win it all this season, so it may prove to be a winning move for them. They also went 4-1 on the week, including that above mentioned sweep of the Unlucky Leafs.

In the rest of the Top 5, Goodneighbor riding a 4-1 week swapped spots with Diamond City, who went 3-2 and lost their weekend series to #17 Vault 81. Fort Hagen went 3-2, including a 12-inning loss, to move up a spot. Quincy jumped into the top 5 after also going 3-2. Abernathy (#6) fell out of the Top 5 after a 2-3 week saw them drop a road series to Sunshine Tidings (#15).

Forgive me for perhaps asking a question more suitable for the newbie areas of the forum, but you mentioned it here, and I'm still very inexperienced with this game (though a quick learner, I'd like to think). Do all players seem to fall off a bit more quickly in game than IRL? So far I have a pretty small sample size in what I've played (not just my own dynasty), but I think I've had a grand total of one player on a team I've managed really be worth a flying fig past age 35-36, maybe two... which, even in my limited experience, doesn't seem quite right, even if some players would make sense to decline.

Edit: (For those curios, since I currently have the game up, apparently it's Giancarlo Stanton in two different saves of mine, so if anyone is just playing a vanilla modern start he might be good to snag, I've used him twice to great effect, but enough about me)

On topic though, it does seem like a very exciting trade though. I'll echo what I said a few days ago again, this season really does seem like everything is coming together to make a great season. I'll go with "hitting the stride".

At the standard 1.000, players in OOTP do tend to start a deep downward trend in their 30s with few pitchers being effective by their mid-30s. In my games, I typically avoid signing 30-somethings to big contracts.

I couldn't find much about aging speed in the ootp forums, at least not for recent versions. There is this: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=320091

Here is a Reddit from three years ago discussing it: https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/commen...z/aging_speed/

I actually have my numbers high (1.250) for each because I want most players to be "done" early due to the wasteland's unhealthy environment.

Ah, that's actually quite illuminating, even though it's actually not that much info! I have a very strong natural inclination to leave settings alone, it didn't actually occur to me that that the default setting might not be ideal by consensus. Granted, part of the reason I've really gotten into this game is all the settings that are changable, it's a very well designed game in that regard, so I suppose the other view is I'm not getting the full bang for my buck if I don't start messing with these things

Setting on faster aging for Fallout makes perfect sense. I keep thinking too how early on it was said most of these guys are technically part-timers as the settlements can actually use their help with day-to-day tasks around the wasteland, but oh boy, with such a packed schedule, there's probably not much time for that. I don't mind suspending my disbelief though. Everyone in the Wasteland is probably just really used to working super hard for survival. Probably contributes to wearing out early too, like your changed simulation setting would suggest.

Since we're on the subject of "under the hood" aspects, another question if I may derail for a bit longer? Do you upgrade game version every year? It's about that time, I suppose, with 22 coming out soon, and I was wondering how easy it was to transfer existing saves up to the new version for running dynasties or just normal save files, or if it was even worth it. Given that that feature is one of the big reasons I'm holding up OOTP as a better game than FM I'm most curious as to your perspective.

Since becoming a regular buyer for OOTP 8, I have purchased "most" of the versions, but I have skipped some, including OOTP 20 and OOTP 15. OOTP 20 was a personal protest of the Perfect Team feature. I was determined to stop at 19, but changed my mind and got 21 when I saw the stadium design feature added and improved 3D graphics. I have no plans right now to buy 22 but may change my mind if there is a feature I love.

As far as upgrading and moving saves, it is really easy. When you are on the OOTP home screen of the game, you see an option to "Import OOTP ## Game." Click on that and follow the prompts. Most people recommend doing it during the offseason in case there are any stat change updates that may throw the league off, but I have never had an issue."

News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

6 June 2299 - BoS Warning: Beware "The Hive"

The Brotherhood of Steel is still searching out more of the raider groups responsible for the deadly attack on Outpost Zimonja on June 1. Now, the BoS is putting out a message to beware of "The Hive," an underground group of Commonwealth raiders looking to wreak havoc on the populated zones.

"Most of the raider groups are looking to loot and pillage," Brotherhood of Steel spokesperson Scribe Cameron Spikeknees said. "This group known as 'The Hive' has some sort of revenge against those that have wronged them. We are hunting them, and we will stop them."

The Brotherhood of Steel released this message found in a terminal in the raider stronghold known as Blue Rock by the leader, Hatchet. They also have been interrogating captured raiders from the assault on Blue Rock. Hatchet's message read:

Yo, Loot. What the **** hapnd man? That Bomur shot his wod n than split. what the **** wuz that? We had them loozerz on tha ropes.

I know yur heading back to fort ballsack but were the **** is that Boomur? I will kill him myself 4 making the hive known. We had them man. We had them. OZ wuz ourz.

The Hive better cum thru and help Blue Rock. We did evrything 4 them. Snipe them bruther basturds.

6 June 2299 - Roxbury-Jamaica Plain Trade

Roxbury and Jamaica Plain have agreed in principle to a trade. The Knuckle Punchers will send 30-year-old RHP James Hickory and 20-year-old RHP Matt Rodrigue to the Red Rockets for 19-year-old minor league LF Colin Goldsworthy, 21-year-old minor league SS Roger Chillingworth, 20-year-old minor league 3B Rough Prince and 20-year-old C Bill Swenson. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.

Rodrigue has taken the mound for 17 relief appearances this season, nailing down 1 save while notching a 0-1 record with a 3.42 ERA. The Haymarket Mall reliever has limited opposing batters to a .247 batting average.

6 June 2299 - Shotgun 5-for-5 Against Chemists

Dustin Shotgun led Easy Town to a 6-1 victory today over the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. He stroked 5 hits in 5 at-bats to spark his club in the win in just his second start while starter Sean Samuels recovers from an injury.

Shotgun doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

A look at his current stats shows Shotgun with a .414 average, no home runs, 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played in 27 games.

6 June 2297 - Adamantium Win, Love goes 4-for-4

Callie Love had a hand in Abernathy defeating The Slog by the score of 7-2. Love went 4 for 4 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 2 runs. The Slog, at 24-22, has lost 5 straight.

It could have been a different outcome for Abernathy, had it not been for Dan Neo, the 28-year old catcher . Neo contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Abernathy up, 3-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Neo.

6 June 2299 - Fischler goes 4-for-5, Leads Cats to Win

The Atom Cats handed the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers a loss at Coolest Field in Town. The final score was 8-4. Baywatch Fischler was one of the major contributors for Atom. In addition to his 3 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Atom reliever Berg Poppy picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Tyler Shuster was tagged with the loss. The Cats sport a record of 13-33.

Early in the game, Fischler had a 2-run home run for Atom. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Cats on top, 4-2.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Atom manager Paul Stands.

6 June 2299 - Ninjas Edge Deathclaws, 6-5

In the 6-5 Egret win over University Point, the impact of Tony Tamez was substantial. Tamez, who is on pace for 82 RBI this season, went 4-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win elevated the Ninjas to 23-23.

Early in the game, Tamez had a 2-run double for Egret. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Ninjas on top, 4-2.

"It was a solid team effort," said Tamez after the game.

Tomas Jones made his debut for the Deathclaws, going 1 for 4 with an RBI.

6 June 2299 - Islander Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 23

For 23 straight games, Bubb Islander tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 22-year-old Vault 81 Dwellers second baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Goodneighbor Hancocks. The Hancocks held him hitless in 4 at-bats at CURIE Inc. Field today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 23.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Dwellers took the win by the score of 5-4.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Currently Islander is batting .370 with 2 home runs and 20 RBIs.

6 June 2299 - 5 Straight Wins for Party Boys After 3-Run 9th

Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud.

The 5-3 Nordhagen Beach win over Fort Hagen was due largely to Jonathan Angelou. The Party Boys right fielder was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tom Mannequin got credit for the save for Nordhagen Beach. It was his 1st of the year in his Nordhagen Beach debut. Sia Abber (5-0) was the winner.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Angelou delivered big-time for Nordhagen Beach, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Matt Demented. The game-changing hit put the Party Boys on top, 5-3.

Angelou called the triumph "a good team win."

The Party Boys, at 33-13, have now won 5 straight.

Andrew Nuka's two-run home run was the biggest shot for Fort Hagen. Ryan Combs had a two-run home run for the Boys for their first two runs of the game.

6 June 2299 - Swatters Win at Warwick, 9-3

The Diamond City Swatters beat the Warwick Mirelurks by a score of 9-3. Rookie center fielder Jim Uglyhair deserved the lion's share of the credit. Uglyhair was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Swatters. The South Charles Association Railroad League-leading Swatters have a record of 33-13.

Uglyhair contributed in the top of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Diamond City get the win.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Uglyhair. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Wayne Lacy added a three-run homer in the 9th for Diamond City's final three runs. Three Warwick hitters each had two hits with a double.

7 June 2299 - Abernathy Adamantium Ship Greenzone to FHE

The Abernathy Adamantium have released a statement confirming the trade of 19-year-old minor league LF Po Greenzone to the FHE Yao Guai for 22-year-old minor league RHP Andy Watsname and a 4th round draft pick. The deal was finalized today.

Greenzone has collected 12 hits for the Adamantium this year, 0 of them home runs, in 17 starts. He has also netted 11 RBIs and scored 7 runs while batting .222. In 2296, he led The Slog and the Brotherhood League in home runs with 25. Last season, he hit 26 home runs to lead Abernathy. He was recently sent down to Bunker Hill due to his offensive struggles.

7 June 2999 - Goodneighbor Hancocks Ship Rocky to Starlight

The Baseball News Network is reporting that the Hancocks and Lady Killers have consummated a trade. Starlight will receive 35-year-old RHP Steve Rocky in a swap for 23-year-old minor league 1B Mike Pushard and a 4th round draft pick. A league analyst called the trade a "fairly even transaction."

Rocky has made 10 starts this season, posting 6 wins and 1 loss. Opposing clubs are batting .240 against him and he has 43 strikeouts in 63.1 innings with a 3.69 ERA.

7 June 2299 - BMU: 6-Hit Blitz by Gourd

6 times is the charm -- at least for Rocky Gourd in his debut with Forest Grove after being demoted for the first time in his career. Originally selected by the Nordhagen Beach Pary Boys in the 16th round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft, Gourd has recently fallen on hard times with the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers.

The Forest Grove Mole Rats left fielder tore up the Postal Square Action Boys to the tune of 6 hits in 6 at-bats at Shamrock Taphouse Stadium of the Square today. The offensive onslaught from Gourd powered the Mole Rats to a 21-12 win.

"Gourd was a tough out today," Postal Square manager Juice Becker said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

Rocky Gourd hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled again in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

CF Tevin McPhail was 3 for 3 with a double, a record-tying four walks, a record-setting five runs, and three RBI. Chris Connexx was 4 for 5 with a double, a home run, two walks, four runs, and six RBI.

Game notes: CF Kyle Clawgnaw was injured being hit by a pitch. Rocky Gourd ties the MA regular season game record for hits with 5. Tevin MacPhail ties the MA regular season game record for bases on balls with 4. Rocky Gourd sets the MA regular season game record for hits with 6. Tevin MacPhail ties the MA regular season game record for runs with 4. Tevin MacPhail sets the MA regular season game record for runs with 5.

7 June 2299 - Gunkill Goes 5-for-5

It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Steve Gunkill today. Gunkill went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off FHE pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at BosCom Circle, he had a 5-for-5 line and a day he will long remember. And the Quincy Gunners had a 4-0 victory over the Yao Guai.

"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. "Seriously, I finally feel at home with Quincy. It's my fourth team but my favorite. I can go up to the plate with confidence here."

Steve Gunkill hit a two-run home run off Papa Bush in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Gunkill on the season is hitting .385 with 8 home runs. His stats include 34 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

7 June 2299 - Eloquent Now 8-2 After Subduing Dwellers

Goodneighbor and Vault 81 duked it out and the Hancocks came out victorious.

Goodneighbor got a first-rate effort from pitcher Quincy Eloquent, who frustrated Vault 81 hitters en route to a 3-0 Hancocks triumph at CURIE Inc. Field. Bus Paula nailed down his 12th save.

Eloquent, now 8-2, scattered 4 hits over 8.1 innings for the Hancocks.

"Quincy was throwing free and easy," said Goodneighbor manager Jeremy Whiteplate.

The win elevated the Hancocks to 33-14.

7 June 2299 - Penaltybox Lifts Adamantium to Win

Abernathy rode a fine outing from starter Joe Penaltybox to victory over the The Slog Ghouls at Tarberry Field Forever. The final score was 7-1. Abernathy has now won 3 in a row.

Penaltybox gave Abernathy a solid start. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 7 hits over 9 innings.

Penaltybox told a Abernathy Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

7 June 2299 - Starlight Wins, 8-5

The Starlight Lady Killers topped the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 8-5, in North Charles Association action at Beantown Brewery Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Starlight first baseman Zeldolph Violet. With the win, Starlight upped its record to 24-23.

Violet had a clutch at-bat in the top of the sixth for the Lady Killers. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Starlight trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single.

"We came out aggressive," said Lady Killers manager Eric Bendure. "We came out swinging the bats."

Injuries are something every team has to deal with. That fact struck home for the Lady Killers when after today's game against the Bloodbugs, the club found out they would be without the services of Ricky Six Pack for at least 4 weeks. After the game, his manager said of the incident, "You hate to lose anyone to injury. That's always a negative." Six Pack was injured earlier today throwing a pitch and suffered a sprained ankle.

Six Pack has gone to the hill for 8 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 4.15 ERA. The Starlight reliever has limited opposing batters to a .250 batting average.

7 June 2299 - Silver Shroud Knock Off Party Boys, 4-1

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud picked up a win at Hubris Comics Park, taking down the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 4-1. Starting pitcher Derek Green was a big reason why. Curtis Thriceshot picked up the save, his 10th. The victory gives Fort Hagen a record of 30-17.

The Silver Shroud picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"I had everything working," said Green.

Ben Pawlak was 2 for 3 with two RBI. Jim Tiller scored twice.

Jon Hitman had three hits for the Party Boys with a double and an RBI. His double was the Boys' only extra-base hit. Derek Gist dropped to 7-2 with the loss.

7 June 2299 - Swatters Win, 2-0, at Warwick

Diamond City starter Tyler Powers put a stranglehold on the Warwick offense. The right-hander (6-2) had complete command of his cutter in 8.0 innings in leading the Swatters to a 2-0 win. Josh Samm picked up his 22nd save. Diamond City now has a record of 34-13 with the win.

It could have been a different outcome for Diamond City, had it not been for Tyler Ross, the 21-year old left fielder. Ross contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Diamond City up, 1-0.

Powers called the triumph "a good team win."

8 June 2299 - More Slog Woes

The Slog may be the most easy-going settlement in all of the Commonwealth. It is most certainly needing an easygoing nature to deal with its baseball team, The Slog Ghouls, and its current woes. The obvious one is the saga of what happened at Outpost Zimonja.

Riding a six-game losing streak, including five straight at home against County Crossing and Abernathy, the Ghouls suddenly find themselves having lost 11 of their last 12 and now are nine games back of Nordhagen Beach in the Brotherhood League.

To top it all off, the Ghouls have lost seven straight at home and 10 of their last 11. Now at 24-23, the rest of the BL is now in position to be a wildcard team in a league where it looked like it was a two-team show. Third-place Salem is now just a game back of The Slog.

"I would say it's all on me," The Slog's first-year manager Dick Tricky said, "but players have to do their jobs, too. I'll do what I can to figure out who is slacking and get the right players in."

At the BMU level, the Ghouls also learned that second-year player Buckskin Antlerhorn will miss the rest of the 2299 season while he questions his future in baseball.

"I need to go home," Antlerhorn said. "When I am stressed most, I just need to hunt. My home in Three Rivers has the biggest radstags you'll ever see. Killing a 75-point buck would make me feel better. Baseball can wait. I'm just 21, but I need to get my mind right.

"I know Zimonja could use my help, but I'm not doing well, either. I could have been Reggie [Jones, who died in the raider attack on Outpost Zimonja]. Since that day, I've only thought about my family in Three Rivers. I need to be with them, and the team understands. I'm leaving today."

9 June 2299 - Vault 95 Liking Rookie's Progress

Vault 95 Robobrains manager Chris Puzey and pitching coach Dave Harris both had a lot of good words about rookie pitcher Wizard Balinese.

"He might be the steal of the 2298 draft," Harris said. "I see him getting better every day. His ERA is over 5 right now [5.59] but he can be a good tool pitcher once he learns how to move his changeup off plate."

Balinese does not have the reputation to be as strong of a worker as the average player, but he does learn from his mistakes.

"I'm not ready to throw him out there as a starter until he's truly ready," Puzey said, "but when he's ready, he's going to surprise people. He's a good choice for a feature story. This guy will be a name people around the Commonwealth know at some point."

9 June 2299 - Sunshine Tidings-Jamaica Plain Trade: Soldierman for Hadley

The Baseball News Network is reporting that the Chemists and Red Rockets have consummated a trade. Jamaica Plain will receive 30-year-old LHP Ben Soldierman in a swap for 19-year-old minor league LHP Jason Hadley. A league analyst called the trade a "fairly even transaction."

Soldierman has taken the mound for 13 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-1 record with a 1.89 ERA. The Haymarket Mall reliever has limited opposing batters to a .188 batting average.

9 June 2299 - Big Day for Combs in 6-4 Party Boys Win

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys stopped the Easy Town Assaultrons, 6-4, at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The Party Boys got a big game from Ryan Combs, who went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Tommy Beach, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-5. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Tom Mannequin recorded his 2nd save for Nordhagen Beach.

With Nordhagen Beach leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Combs hit a curveball from Angel Waterdrink for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Party Boys ahead, 5-0.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Combs told the Nordhagen Beach News.

The win puts Nordhagen Beach at 34-14 this season, pushing them to a 10-game lead in the Brotherhood League.

9 June 2299 - Utsinger Stars for Hancocks in 9-3 Win

Zachary Utsinger left his imprint on the 9-3 Goodneighbor win against the Quincy Gunners. Utsinger was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once.
