And they did, winning 12-11. Violet was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Concord reliever Bell Franklin got the win, raising his record to 5-9. John Walden was tagged with the loss. The Radstags now have a mark of 36-47. Josh McIntyre was the walk-off hero for Concord. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Radstags second baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home. "They're fun to watch and the hitters get to pad their stats but nobody's really happy about a game like that," Concord manager Mark Gourdroot. "I promise you I'm not happy." 30 July 2299 - Bloodbugs Pitching Ravaged by Masterson, Boys Brian Masterson had an answer for everything the County Crossing Bloodbugs threw at him today at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The Nordhagen Beach second baseman went 5-for-5 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Party Boys on top, 16-1. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Masterson said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." Brian Masterson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, and hit a sac fly in the 8th. With the win, he raised his record to 11-6. Bus Paula was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 25 save opportunities. With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Jason Juras barreled up a fastball from Adam Froggatt. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Hancocks in front, 5-2. "You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Juras told the Goodneighbor Bulletin. Goodneighbor goes to 58-25. The win puts them 10½ games up in their division. 30 July 2299 - Chemists Beat Visiting Silver Shroud, 8-7 The Sunshine Tidings Chemists powered past the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 8-7, at ArcJet Systems Stadium. Jalen Wharton was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3, to lead the charge. Danny Beerholder picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 11 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-8. Vince Moon was credited with the save, his 7th in 8 tries. Brightsun Ramos hit a 3-run home run off Derek Green in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Chemists ahead, 6-3. In addition to the homer, Ramos had 1 double, while going 2 for 5. "In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time." The last-place Chemists now have a win-loss record of 35-48. After 35 games, Sunshine Tidings center fielder Frank Corsica saw his hitting streak end when he went hitless in 4 at-bats. "It was a good run," Corsica said after the game. "It was bound to end at some point. I'm just glad we won the day it ended." Thus far this year Corsica has hit .371 with 5 home runs and 39 RBIs. 30 July 2299 - Ross Slugs Swatters to 12-9 Win The Diamond City Swatters bested the Oberland T-51s, 12-9, at Graygarden Park. Tyler Ross was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Diamond City reliever Raul Esparza was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Matt Breakball. Diamond City has run its win streak to 5 in a row. The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Allen Bishop came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Oberland pitcher Matt Breakball, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Diamond City on top, 10-9. "We take it day by day here," said Bishop, "and today was a good one for us." 30 July 2299 - Abernathy Trades Kingboy for University Point's Gonzalez Today at a press conference the Abernathy Adamantium announced a trade has been completed with the University Point Deathclaws. Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 31 July 2299 - Trade Deadline Today Today is the last chance for teams in contention to improve their teams for the 2299 season while teams out of the race try to secure some delectable prospects. It's the trade deadline! Only a few hours remain until it's too late to deal player for player straight up. Clubs across Commonwealth Baseball Organization are evaluating their situation, seeing what they can get without having to give up the farm. Some will try to win a championship today. Some will do their utmost to lose one and others will (wisely?) stand pat. Normal trades are allowed again once the playoffs are over and the offseason begins. Some of those trades may come at the 25th hour, so we will report trades tomorrow for any late deals today. 31 July 2299 - Violet North Charles Association's Hottest Hitter It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Zeldolph Violet, the Starlight Lady Killers 22-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 11 hits in 20 at-bats, compiling a .550 average with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. This season Violet has hit at a .362 clip with 70 RBIs, 19 home runs and 68 runs scored. 31 July 2299 - Week's Best Player: Goodneighbor's Assman One of the league's most exciting young players, Bryan Assman of the Goodneighbor Hancocks earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 21-year-old first baseman had a lofty .571 average (12-for-21), collecting 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Currently Assman is hitting .371 and has collected 27 home runs, 94 RBIs and scored 85 times, while playing in 83 games. He is again looking like a strong candidate to repeat his CBO MVP Award. 31 July 2299 - Party's Almost Over: Adamantium's Marksman Retires in Bunker Hill J.J. Marksman said he's made enough frienemies in professional baseball, so it's time to move on. "I did pretty well for myself, my bank account isn't hurting, maybe I'll become a manager or a team owner or something so I can make even more," he said, announcing this season would be his last. "I'm 36 years old, so I've still got some time to make something of the rest of my life." Marksman saw brief time in the CBO with his original team, Sunshine Tidings. Originally signed by the Chemists as an undrafted free agent following the 2296 CBO Inaugural Draft, Marksman saw little time in 2296 as a backup catcher, appearing in five games and starting four. He split time between Corvega and Sunshine Tidings in 2298, before remaining on the BMU squad in 2298. He was released after the season and signed with Abernathy as a backup catcher in Bunker Hill. In his CBO career, he is 11 of 55 (.200) with a double, three runs, and four RBI. 31 July 2299 - BNN Stats: Career Batting Leaders So, who is the leader in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization in career caught stealing? https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1586093507 Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 31 July 2299 - Bean Red-Hot, CA Player of the Week It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Commonwealth Association, but last week Wild Bean of the Bunker Hill Gun Fu reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Bean rocked opposing pitching for a 1.000 average (6-for-6), 1 home run and 3 RBIs to come away with the award. This season Bean is swinging the bat at a .432 pace. He has hit 1 home run and scored 10 times, while driving in 8. His on-base percentage is .500 and he has played in 38 games. 31 July 2299 - Siltbean on Fire, Named Player of the Week At the age of 29, Jeff Siltbean might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Fiddler's Green left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .471 batting average. For his efforts Siltbean collected the Massachusetts Association Player of the Week Award. He racked up 8 hits in 17 at-bats, 4 home runs and 14 RBIs last week in 4 games. This season Siltbean is batting .381 with 67 RBIs, 48 runs scored and 16 home runs. 31 July 2299 - BNN Stats: Single-Season Records (Projected) Who holds the single season record in the Boston Minor Union for batting AVG? Sure, the BMU is not as talent-rich as its big brother in the CBO, but the league races show that the largest league lead heading into August is three games by three league leaders: Breakheart Banks (#8, Dark Hollow Pond League), Mystic Pines (#1, Cambridge League), and Trinity Plaza (#3, Downtown Boston League). The Glowing Sea League's Eastlake (#5) is only a game up on Fiddler's Green (#4). C.I.T. Ruins continues to look like the second-best team in the BMU, having gone 8-2 in its last 10. Unfortunately, only one team per league makes the playoffs, and that means either the Refractors or Raybathers will be sitting out in September. Greentop Nursery (#10), Haymarket Mall (#7), and Somerville Place (#6) are all very much in their respective league races. Union Hope (#24) is the only team eliminated from the playoffs. They will make their 9th attempt at winning their 10th game of the season when they visit the General Atomics Galleria (#21) tomorrow. Here are the current team power rankings for Boston Minor Union: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Mystic Pines Raybathers (140.6, o) 2) C.I.T. Ruins Refractors (124.8, o) 3) Trinity Plaza Snipers (123.8, +) 4) Fiddler's Green T-60s (120.5, ++) 5) Eastlake Aquaboys (118.8, -) 6) Somerville Place Sentry Bots (118.3, ++) 7) Haymarket Mall Commandos (114.0, o) 8) Breakheart Banks Behemoths (108.3, --) 9) College Square Nerd Ragers (104.2, --) 10) Greentop Nursery Night People (98.5, ++) 11) Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters (95.4, ++) 12) Corvega Flamers (90.6, -) 13) Cabot House Rayguns (89.6, -) 14) Forest Grove Mole Rats (88.1, -) 15) Charles View Cannibals (83.5, ++) 16) Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks (81.4, --) 17) Malden Grognaks (80.3, +) 18) Bunker Hill Gun Fu (76.5, -) 19) Natick Banks Big Leaguers (68.5, --) 20) Postal Square Action Boys (64.7, -) 21) Galleria Robotics Experts (63.0, o) 22) Boston Common Lead Bellies (51.9, o) 23) Vault 95 Robobrains (39.1, o) 24) Union Hope Lifegivers (13.5, o) Standings and Stats |

Analysis
The four league leaders are #s 1-4 in this week's Power Rankings, which should pretty much stay that way throughout the rest of the season unless one or more of them get really cold and another team or more get super hot. However, as far as the standings go, all four at the top are in. The most interesting movement in the Power Rankings came in the Railroad League, where Vault 81 (#6) leapfrogged Oberland (#15) in both the standings and rankings. The Dwellers used a 5-0 week with a sweep at Warwick and home against FHE, allowing a total of 9 runs in the five games, the most being a 4-3 win in 12 innings over the Yao Guai in Game 2. On the other end, the T-51s answered their sweep of Diamond City (#2) last week by being swept again by Quincy (#5) and then losing all three to the Swatters, making the T-51s 0-5 in their homestand. Otherwise, there was not much movement among teams. The other large movement factor was The Slog (#11) using a 4-1 week, including a weekend sweep of Finch Farm (#18) to get back in the Brotherhood League race. Falling five spots were the Abernathy Adamantium (#12), who got blasted in an 0-5 week at County Crossing (#22) and Lexington (#8) to drop to 4th place in the Institute League behind Fort Hagen (#4), Starlight (#7), and the Synths. Weekly Team Power Rankings Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Goodneighbor Hancocks (131.8, +1) 2) Diamond City Swatters (130.6, +3) 3) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (128.8, -2) 4) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (115.9, -1) 5) Quincy Gunners (113.1, -1) 6) Vault 81 Dwellers (104.4, +8) 7) Starlight Lady Killers (102.9, +2) 8) Lexington Synths (102.8, o) 9) Salem Witch Hats (97.4, +2) 10) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (96.1, +3) 11) The Slog Ghouls (96.1, +5) 12) Abernathy Adamantium (94.4, -5) 13) University Point Deathclaws (88.1, -3) 14) Egret Ninjas (87.7, -2) 15) Oberland T-51s (82.1, -9) 16) Concord Radstags (79.1, -1) 17) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (78.9, +2) 18) Finch Farm Four Leafs (68.7, o) 19) Warwick Mirelurks (68.6, +1) 20) FHE Yao Guai (64.9, -3) 21) Roxbury Knuckle Punchers (64.2, o) 22) County Crossing Bloodbugs (62.2, +1) 23) Easy Town Assaultrons (52.7, -1) 24) Atom Cats (49.4, o) A Look at the Top 100 Prospects https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...1&d=1617191853 Standings and Stats |

But for now the young Starlight Lady Killers star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .397 average with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 22 runs scored. This season Violet is batting .362 with 113 hits, 19 home runs, 70 RBIs, 45 walks, .450 OBP and has scored 68 runs. He has played in 83 games. In July, he topped off the month with a 3-0 mark and 1.71 ERA in 3 starts, tossed 21 innings, fanned 25 and held opposing teams to a .189 average. Today in the CBO
News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 August 2299 - Piper Wright Disappointed in FHE Personnel Reports coming out of Fairline Hill Estates is that owner Piper Wright is not happy with the team's performance and may be making changes this offseason. According to an anonymous source close to the organization, "She's ******* ******, man. She is ******* ******." Wright considers herself to be a hands-off owner, allowing those with a job to do it. However, she wants to make her investment in caps pay off with wins. The source also said, "Yeah, she wants to ******* win. That's why she's ******* ******." The Yao Guai are 36-48 entering today's game, 5th place in the Railroad League. The team just missed the playoffs in 2298 after making it as a wildcard team in 2297. The lowest they have finished is 4th. The roster for FHE is considered to be decently talented, though there are some holes, with the team currently tied for 9th in the South Charles Association with 408 runs, while allowing the 9th most runs (456). That has translated into the Yao Guai being 9 games back of Vault 81 for the wildcard. In a year with Oberland struggling to win consistently (43-41), the RL seemed like it was ripe for the taking. The Dwellers or Egret may jump over the T-51s instead. 2 August 2299 - Howard Not Happy with Hoarding Players CBO Commissioner Nate Howard has expressed his displeasure to league members that are signing and storing an excess number of players on their BMU rosters. "We have some BMU teams with nearly 50 players on their rosters," Howard said. "I could understand if there are so many injuries you can't field a team, but if you have 43 players and two get hurt, it does not mean you should go out and sign 7 more." League officials have spoken about what they should do. Every day, more and more settlers find their way into the Commonwealth from surrounding communities. Some have reportedly come as far west as Nebraska in recent years, though none of those brand new to the Commonwealth have yet to break into the league. "We're considering several possibilities for the future," Howard said, "but nothing is ready yet. I know we'll have 25 stadiums in 2300 once Oberland's stadium is completed. We also have 24 other stadiums that could be expanded if we needed more teams. However, I am not ready to talk expansion. We still have a lot of crows to cook first." With more players participating in area youth leagues, including the Commonwealth-wide Boston Youth Development League, there could be considerations for expansion of the CBO or the possibility of adding another level to the minor league system. "Yeah, another minor league level may work," Howard said. "We'll most certainly will think about it, but we don't currently have the infrastructure to do that next season. We'll start hammering home ideas more in the offseason." 2 August 2299 - Adamantium Shut Out Four Leafs, Westing Winner Brad Westing kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Abernathy Adamantium were all smiles after winning 2-0 against the Finch Farm Four Leafs at Tato Field today. The left-handed Westing gave up no runs in his start, permitted 5 hits and had 12 strikeouts. "If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Westing said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be." His record for the year is 8-7 in 22 starts and Westing has a 3.16 ERA. 2 August 2299 - Red Rockets Hurler Teddybear Tosses Masterpiece In an impressive mound performance, Chris Teddybear of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets checked the Diamond City Swatters on a 5-hitter and held them scoreless. "He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said Diamond City manager Bucky Bachelor. "Teddybear kept us confused the whole game." The Jamaica Plain hurler rang up 10 strikeouts and issued no walks in his 5-0 shutout victory. In 16 starts this year Teddybear has fashioned a 11-3 record and a 3.28 ERA. 2 August 2299 - FHE Gets 6-2 Win FHE shortstop Hose Wallcrawler had a 4-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 6-2. Peak Sizeman, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 3-0. The 5th-place Yao Guai have a record of 37-48. With FHE trailing 2-1 in the top of the second, Wallcrawler hit a 2-run single off Goodneighbor hurler Josh Dude. It was the 104th hit of the season for Wallcrawler and put his team ahead, 3-2. "We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Wallcrawler said after the game. 2 August 2299 - Lady Killers Beat Party Boys, 1-0 Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel. Starlight got a first-rate effort from pitcher City Moore, who frustrated Nordhagen Beach hitters en route to a 1-0 Lady Killers triumph at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. Moore went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 10-9. Larry Undertaker notched his 25th save in 29 chances. Starlight relied on the hitting of Glenn Higinbotham to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Lady Killers on top, 1-0. For the game, Higinbotham had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats. "If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Starlight manager Eric Bendure. The win puts Starlight at 49-36 this season. 2 August 2299 - Nuka 5-for-5 for Fort Hagen 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Fort Hagen's Andrew Nuka made it happen today against the Assaultrons. Everything came together at the plate for the 27-year-old left fielder as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Silver Shroud to a 4-3 win at Easy Town Field. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Nuka said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Andrew Nuka singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This season Nuka has hit at a .315 clip with 71 RBIs, 19 home runs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 85 games. 2 August 2299 - Stabb Hits in 20 Consecutive Games The streak is alive and well -- at least for today. Shane Stabb did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at CURIE Inc. Field today. For the last 20 games in a row, the 22-year-old third baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Atom Cats beat the Vault 81 Dwellers 4-1 today. "I'm happy I kept the streak going," Stabb told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Atom clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Shane Stabb flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, and flied out in the 7th. This season Stabb is batting .327 with 5 home runs. He has scored 39 runs and driven in 41. |
