OTOH, there are plenty of AAAA teams that can't be bothered to keep players in their arb years, so maybe there's enough to be hoovered up annually from Oakland, KC, Cincy, etc. etc. I'm not thrilled with the rotation either, although at least Jake had the class to pitch badly in Texas to avoid all the sports talk mouths for a day. |
They lost "only" 2-1, but I don't think we would have complained about bad luck if the Marlins had punched Peterson in the kisser for four or five runs. He was just not on.
So was the offense. Jorge Soler making the two best plays of his career also didn't exactly help. Oh well, at least I got to yell PEEEEEEEETE a few times. Once on a homer, and once on that double play. |

No offense meant to you all or the guys in uniform, you're all hostage to a cartel owner like the rest of us and deserve better. |

McNeil too on that play at the plate, they look sharp already and I enjoy watching them play baseball. But 1 run losses to the Fish never end well! |
(alights from the Kodai Senga hype train and goes into the dark corner to sob)
|
Brice Turang (who?) hits a slam, 10-0 in the fifth, the crowd goes bananas. The good news is, this one might sting, but will only count for one loss.
At least McNeil didn't break his wrists there tripping over his own bushy tail. That was a squirrel pun, before people get ideas. |
As long as you don't start talking about McNeil keeping his nuts safe for the winter…

Not scored a run for 20 innings, been whacko'ed for 19 in the meantime.
'tis but a scratch. After that rough run, I am more looking forward to getting to snatch a Shohei Ohtani start at 10pm my time tonight than the final game in Milwaukee before that. |
Tommy Hunter, report to the sick bay in Port St. Lucie! ;)
|
Even Ohtani sucks today... :crying:

Pitchers can't toss, batters can't hit, home opener rained out, no Verlander, no Quintana, and now Narvaez to the DL (my sources say "calf", but not whether it's his lower leg or whether he was trampled by one, in which case: get off Cespedes' Ranch of the Damned!), and now the Mets are said to recall Francisco Alvarez to hit .120 for an extended period of time.
What a wonderful time to see Uncle Steve burn $400M :laugh:  |
I forgot to post a pic of a broom.
:D |
Meanwhile, Wilmer Flores (2), Michael Conforto (3), and J.D. Davis (5) drove in 10 of the Giants' 16 runs over the Black Sox yesterday.
I am starting to miss J.D. ******* Davis.:ohmy: The heart never wanted the other two to go away anyway. :o |

In other news, the team chefs got way bigger cheers than any of the assistant coaches :D when announced on Opening Day, and the trainers didn't get booed. Mets fans are amazin' :P And then they announced Opening Day starter Tylor Megill :? and now your pal Boom Boom! |

Not entirely unrelated - I was one Mark Canha look at a fat pitch away from being able to sing: Meet the Mets! Meet the Mets! Walk, walk, walk, K, K, K - To scoring a run, that's as close as it gets! But then Edward Cabrera threw a wayward 3-2 after all. Faced 15 batters. Whiffed four. Walked seven. |
Gary Cohen: They wonder whether the new centerfield scoreboard will change the wind patterns in the ballpark.
I wonder whether during a night game, Boeings will start to land in the outfield.:ohmy: |
