Post issues about the major league roster set here please!
Hey guys,
we want to constantly improve the major league roster set, so please post issues you run across here once the game is released. Please do not post issues with players being on wrong roster / lineup / pitching staff spots, the AI sets these up and there is nothing we can do to force player X to be used in a certain predefined way. Also, do not post stuff like "Trout just hit .260 in my sim, this cannot be right." or "Why has X better ratings than Y?". Posts like these will be ignored! Major league player ratings are based on PECOTA projections, not opinion. Please post here: - Errors in contracts - Issues with players being in the wrong organization - Vastly wrong player ratings (disable scouting first so you see the real ratings), for example a Double-A scrub having allstar-calibre ratings Thanks for helping! :) Markus |
Not an issue, but...
THE MINOR LEAGUE ABBREVIATIONS ISSUES ARE FIXED! No more PCL Pacific Conference being abbreviated "AC" in the default set! Edit: Dayton and Daytona are both abbreviated DAY, but there's really no way around that one so I'll give you a pass on it. Greensboro is GRE and Greenville is GRB, I assume for Greenville (Boston) since there's a Greeneville with four E's that's a Houston affiliate. Two Burlington teams are both BUR, but they're different league levels so there isn't a problem telling them apart. |
First issue. David Ortiz's extension was announced March 23, so it shouldn't be in the game as the ML roster set is as of March 21.
|
You can go Edit them your self that's what I would do.
|
No real team owners in the quickstart. I assume this is for legal reasons and you can't use the real ones?
EDIT: Weird, there are a few correct owners in there... |
Cubs-Nationals doubleheader on 6/28 is correctly not in the game. It is treated the same way as any other rescheduled game, i.e. played on its originally scheduled date.
|
Season start date is first Saturday on or after March 31, which could lead to some odd schedules in post-2014 seasons due to the default schedule including the Australia opening series.
|
Playoffs in most minor leagues are incorrect, though the current Midwest League format cannot be recreated in OOTP. Minors never use best-of-7 series IRL.
|
Speaking of the minors, the set start date for the full season leagues is the first Thursday on or after April 3, which doesn't line up with the majors. Ignoring the Australia Opening Series issue for a moment, in years where April 1 is a Monday or Tuesday, the full-season minors would start two days before the majors do. The first such year is 2019, followed by 2024 and 2025.
My assumption to how this error was made is that the devs looked at this year's schedule, saw it began on Thursday April 3, and put that in the quickstart. The obvious problem is the way this ties into the calendar: in year 2 of all quickstarts that do this, the season begins a week later than it did in year 1, i.e. April 9. The exact same error was made last year. EDIT: More minor league weirdness, the short-season leagues don't line up with each other as well as they should. In the quickstart, the NY-Penn League starts a week late compared to the other short-season leagues if June 12 is a Thursday, which happens to be the case in 2014. |
Another problem but an easy fix by me is that it is 4-18 so Rosters aren't as of today and Teams have made moves since opening day and another problem but will take along time for me to do update Stats so far for this season and also, update Standings but no can do.

Martin Perez SP Texas Rangers
Contract in Game 2014: $0.75M 2015: $1M 2016: $2.9M 2017: $4.4M 2018: $6M Team Option with no buyout 2018 should have a $2.45M buyout on the option and there also should be team option years for 2019 & 2020... 2019: $7.5M Team Option ($0.75M Buyout) 2020: $9M Team Option ($0.25M Buyout) source: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/c...texas-rangers/ |
I know arguing ratings is not normally a good idea for this thread, but Yu Darvish's Stuff rating shouldn't be that godly. Relative to ML, Darvish's Stuff is 112 out of 100. Second place is Strasburg at 97, third place Matt Moore at 86. Is Darvish really 30% better than anyone else in the entire American League?

Go Rangers :-) |

Thanks for that. Will get it sorted for future updates. |
St Louis doesn't have a scouting director
no scouts are working. I switched between all the teams and all the ratings were 0. Toggling the complete scouting options in the settings turned on OSA scouting but the individual team's scouts still did not show up |

Ratings of 0 means you need to rescout. Nothing to do with the rosters. |

We'll likely release an update later in the year in September or so. |

hmm... i'll start a new game and get back to you |
Kendrys Morales and Stephen Drew don't have compensation attached to them.
|
Quote:
Regarding Morales and Drew, I don't think OOTP has ever(or been able to) attach compensation value to the previous years FA's when you start a new version of OOTP. If you check OOTP14 any compensation from the 2012 FA's wont be included for the 1st season. But when you play out the 2014 season the compensation picks will apply for 2015 onwards. |

That being said everyone sees things a bit differently and there are some guys I think are underrated but that the guy who does the top 100 prospects is good with. It is what it is really, in the end that's what the editor is for. I don't know what more you want on Heaney though. His potentials are 135-142-135 stuff-move-control. He's pretty much a top 10 pitching prospect with those ratings. We could bump him up a little more imo, maybe his stuff up to 145 or so, but overall he's just about right. As for compensation, that's not something we can set manually. The comp only gets attached once you play the game and start simming seasons. Maybe we can mention this to Markus and get him to add the ability for us to edit comp stuff in the future, but I wouldn't expect it to happen this year. |

A lot of the draft pool prospects have the wrong birthdate?
They can't all be born on January 1st? |

Those 1-1's are guys we don't have dob's for yet. We can get most of them from Perfect Game and other sources and we will do so and will continually be updating them. Each patch you should see this get a little better |

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I just got to opening day on a new save file and all 100 of the top 100 prospects are relievers...

I guess since Clayton Kershaw was injured as of opening day for all other teams, he is also injured for the games in Australia (which is like a week before the other opening day)?
|
Quote:
We probably should've set him as not being injured. I think haveband may change this once he sees it. |

No worries, I shouldn't even have said anything. It's hard to tell intent on the internet sometimes:o |
40-man rosters in the All-In-One download seem off. I checked the Red Sox, Diamond Backs, and White Sox and all three teams have between 28 and 31 players on their 40-man.
|
Quote:
They also stay a bit lower than irl because a really full 40 man causes the ai some issues with player movement. |
Question about the posting system on the roster for the other leagues. I don't know much about international leagues but since there is some sort of posting system in Japan, shouldn't that be on there league? All the international leagues have the posting disabled.

I'll check and report it if it's turned off in my game as well. |

Another draft pool issue:
3B Dominic Cuoci has big league stats? I believe they're former big league OF John Bowker's? |

Ubaldo Jimenez contract is wrong in the game. It says he signed it prior to the 2013 season and will be a free agent after 2016, when he really signed it prior to the 2014 season and will be a free agent after 2017. He salary for the 2014 season is 11.25 million, 2015: 12.25 million, 2016: 13 million, 2017: 13.5 million

Lukas, will these fixes be in Mondays patch?
Thanks for your diligent work on ironing these kinks out. |
I am using the game's default 2014 Season rosters (New Standard Game) and when I go into the Milestones Section I find a couple of problems.
Nick Cardinale age 18 with 434 homeruns David Stauffer age 18 with 294 homeruns Greg French age 18 with 673 games played Roy Rivera age 18 with 476 games played |

Ill hold off on starting a new game until Monday in that case and instead concentrate on my imported '14 chise. |

Completely new to the game and the community. Huge stat guru and current college baseball player. Anyway, to my first noob question here, will these updates be applied to a game I have already started or should I wait a while to start a game to get some of these updates in there?
|

I've spent way too much time working on a huge real roster college baseball project for OOTP here. Anyway to answer your questions, yes you'll need to start a new game, but the updates will only show up once in a new patch. So wait till the new patch comes out, then apply it, and start a new game. |
