Award Icons Based on Real Trophies
 

The following two posts are the icons I am using for my awards in my leagues now, they are based upon the real trophies. I'll find the explanation on how to add these into your skins when I find it again... as of right now, I'll just assume you know how to do this if you want these icons.

I'll eventually zip them up as a mod unless someone wants to do it for me. Here they come:

For you? Certainly. Can you give me an hour? I've gotta do something real quick and then I will whip one up for you... or I can do a Yankee ring for you, too. ;)

Hate to break it to you, but this one is awarded throughout the playoffs, not just the WS.

As an aside, great set of icons! :laugh:

I had a feeling that may be the case, but I wasn't sure.

I could make a different award for a Divison Series/LCS type of icon, I could just track down an LCS MVP award or something of the sort, and then folks could use their custom award for World Series MVP -- I think that would work well.

My two favorite are the ROTY trophy (That is Jackie Robinson's ROTY award that I used) and the Rolaids Relief Man trophy with the fireman's hat on top. :D

I'm going to go find that division series/LCS style icon for you guys, sorry about that.

(I went in to see how it showed it for the different series, and this was interesting. I will still go get a LCS trophy for those that want to have a different icon in their custom award to keep track of WS MVP's at a glance, but check this out in the meantime, I love that it does this.)

This is from a random debut I set up that I call "Sleepy Randoms", I let it progress as a normal historical with random debut from 1901 on, and it's Sleepy because I sim it while I sleep at night. You'll see the award this player just won, that's the cool thing. Also a few of the other icons are also shown here:

Here is one I think will work fine for ya. :)

This one uses Orel Hershiser's 1995 ALCS MVP trophy. I have the filename as award_lcs.png so you will have to do some renaming when you figure out how you personally want to utilize these trophies.

I am glad folks are getting enjoyment out of them. I will go track down that post that details how to easiest add these into skins.

Thanks again for pointing that out to me, I never noticed in my test sims previously that it did that, and I haven't been through my first WS yet as I play all of my games out! :D

loving these, but can they be done with a transparent background??

Would probably take skills I don't have as these are all taken from images of the real-life trophies. I have PhotoShop but I really don't use it, I do all the stuff I do in OOTP for screenshots and such in paint.

I mean if you know how to make the backgrounds transparent, it would work, I'm sure.

I'm going to load one of my leagues with a guy who has a ton of trophies to show the look with OOTP 16 skin.

Sorry, I forgot to post what a character looks like with a ton of the icons. This is actually resized to 80% so the screen doesn't side-scroll on you.

Good effort, but at 1366x768 res it still side scrolled. :p

Forgot where do I install these at? i'll just overwrite the existing.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 16\data\skins\ootp 16\images

Yes, and then you have to delete the Skin.bin file in that skins folder, and then re-start OOTP, and it will rebuild you the new skin.bin file with those images used.

Glad folks are enjoying them, and I apologize about the transparent backgrounds thing. My wife is the artist, not me... I do the best I can just to get screenshots and stuff in my dynasty reports. LOL

This one I actually had the ability to do, and I gave it a shot -- this is personally one of my favorite new features.

Hmm, I had thought they had to be saved in 40x40. I could have done a better job on mine. LOL

Thanks JDD for the great idea. Using pics of the actual awards was a great idea.

And thanks ScottM for the transparent versions. Normally I don't bother with mods, but these look too good to pass on.

Yeah, this feature is pretty cool. I think one of the devs said it was their favourite too. Hopefully this spurs them on to finally allow for more custom awards than just one.

I think i did something wrong. i had no "images" folder in that skins section so i created it, added these, and then deleted the .bin file and now the game has weird colors and is not using these custom accomplishment files.

Heres the one for Reliever of the Year...Only one I can't find is World Series MVP, so if someone wants to help me out that'd be great.

Yeah, I would update and use this is mine but for whatever reason, I don't get the correct files to rebuild QuestDog's skin.bin so for me to add your transparent ones I'd have to make the man do more work again. :D

Regardless, thanks for doing this, they are unquestionably better than mine.

I wonder... I'm doing this NBA themed league and was going to use my other skin for it... would you be willing to do this same kind of work with some NBA awards? I'd greatly appreciate it if you could find the time! :D

I'm using the MVP, Sixth Man of the Year (reliever), Defensive Player of the Year (cy young), Kia Rookie of the Year, All-NBA Defense Team (gold glove), and 1st-Team All-NBA (my "silver slugger") and I'm going to be using the Finals MVP and Bill Russell Trophy.

I could do them myself, but not with the transparency and such. I greatly appreciate it if you do decide to do some of them, thank you very much!

I'll try to get to them tomorrow.

Where exactly do I put these?

Some people just cant read instructions in an order that is out of order...so..for my benefit and for all the people who are NOT computer literate as well as other people...could someone please give a step by step instruction as how to install these because even i am having trouble getting these to work:p

Install them into the data/skins/your skin/images
delete skin.bin
load game
viola

The problem I am having is that when I go to c: program files ootp 16 data skins, there is no image file. It is just a skin.bin file. I delete the skins and reloaded all the skins....zippo. I just can not find the images that go with ootp16. I do not remember having that problem with 15.

You'll have to download the skin through the Add-ons Central in the start menu.

This is probably why you have no image folder...

I have exactly one item listed in my Add-ons Central...the nickname project. There is nothing else there and I can't seem to add anything by any method. Any ideas about this? I go into '15 and see many items in Add-ons Central including the skins...nothing in '16.

if you (or anyone else) is still having issues getting the images folder to appear, you might have to right-click on the ootp 16 icon and choose 'run as administrator', then download (or just re-install if you've already downloaded) the skin file. That's what it took for the images folder to finally appear for me.

now that it's there and I've copied over the new trophy images / deleted the skin.bin file.... the next question is... exactly when does the skin.bin file get rebuilt and show up again? I've closed down/restarted the game multiple times, but it's still not there (all the default icons are still showing in-game as well).
