Proposed Team Concepts and Potential Expansion Park Models
I created a model for the proposed Portland ballpark in Sketchup, and I wanted to share it here for c/c. Below is the zip file and a couple of pictures:

Park at Howard Terminal
After finishing the Portland Park I decided to take a run at the new Oakland park, which, interestingly enough, ended up being a lot easier than the Portland Park.

These are really nice - if you did these in SketchUp, would you be willing to share the .skp files?
|
Thanks eriqjaffe.
' EDIT January 2: I updated the google drive folders today and included the sketchup files for the two fields in the respective folders. They aren't separate anymore. |
BB&T Ballpark
Ok, one final one for now. I put together a BB&T Ballpark for Charlotte based on the field dimensions and location of the current one. I added three levels and a hypothetical 27,000 seats.

One Nevada Credit Union Park
I guess I should rechristen this the expansion thread. I put together a model for Las Vegas based on the new minor league stadium they're building - I made it a "retractable" roof stadium (since they would probably have to do that based on Texas and Phoenix) and put it in Summerlin. It plays like Coors Field according to the Park Generator, so get your groundballers.

Huntington Park - Columbus, OH
Next up in the series - Huntington Park in Columbus, OH. Again, took a minor league stadium and retrofitted it for a Major League setting. As a side note, it looks like a pretty beautiful stadium.

Awesome stuff. Playing OOTP is so much better with contributors like yourself. Thank you.
You said next in the series, just out of curiosity, what parks are you planning next? I am actually configuring my league around the parks in this forum. Just interested to see. |
Victory Field - Indianapolis, IN
This time we're heading to Indianapolis, IN with a retrofitting of Victory Field. It seems like a pretty cool stadium, and I added a memorial in center field to go along with the military theme.

Those are my thoughts right now - let me know if you have a preference. |
Louisville and Vancouver would be cool. Also, just a suggestion and im not sure what your process is now, but having editable .png textures in the ballpark for the field and any advertisements/team branding signs would really make your parks a lot more flexible and would be immensely appreciated.

Scotiabank Field - Vancouver, CA
I took some creative liberties with this particular park - I made the quarter circle outfield into a slightly more uneven one, and moved it down by the bay with a nice view of a skyline (replacing a quite pretty city park - who needs a public park when there is baseball to be played?). It's a "retractable roof" stadium that will be playing open.

Louisville Slugger Field - Louisville, KY
Louisville is next on our tour of AAA ballparks converted into Major League Stadiums. The outside structure is pretty cool, with fans entering through an old warehouse, and the stadium has a pretty great location on the Ohio River. The park plays slightly pitcher friendly (.994 in the MiLB park factors.)
Also, itsmb8, I used textures and .png's on all of the surfaces as you recommended and included the templates in the zip file. If this is what you were suggesting in the earlier thread let me know. Thanks for your help in making this more customizable. As far as the way forward goes:
Since I now have unlimited sketchup powers, I'm planning to complete the following stadiums on an ill-defined timeline (probably can't keep up the 2-3 a week pace forever): Nashville New Orleans San Antonio Brooklyn These are all current teams in a league I'm running. New Orleans will be the next one - if you have any thoughts on the other three, let me know. After that I'll work on some of the following cities that could be potential future expansion sites: Albuquerque Austin El Paso Memphis Sacramento Salt Lake City Hartford Orlando Virginia Beach Boise Birmingham If any of those are of particular interest let me know and I'll bump them up the list. Thanks everyone! |
Wow. These are game changers. Just amazing.
Any thoughts on indoor stadiums? |
PLEASE KEEP GOING!!! these are awesome!

As for a request, I do a Canadian world and would love a stadium for Quebec...if you dare to try ;) |
Sacramento? As in Hughes Stadium from the 70s???

Shrine on Airline - New Orleans, LA
A lot of the stadiums I've been modding have been pretty cool - Huntington Park in particular comes to mind. And then... there is the Shrine on Airline.
http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium...ie_zephyr1.jpg I kept the open spaces between the levels and the field outline and changed just about everything else, including adding outfield luxury boxes that are meant to evoke a French Quarter feel. Total seats are about 40,000, and it's a pretty pitcher friendly park in real life (I nerfed it a bit), but it will probably be the most pitcher friendly park in your league. Hartford and Dunkin' Donuts Park would be great. It was voted top park in AA after it's inaugural season in 2017, it's got a couple of cool features with the short RF porch.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacramento_Solons Charles C. Hughes Stadium, where Gorman Thomas once hit 51 HR in just 474 ab. Hughes is an obscenity, a stain on simulation or real baseball. That said...they once had a game where a team came from 17 runs behind to win. |
HEB Field at Wolff Park - San Antonio
As a Brewers fan I've recently learned that Nelson Wolff Stadium isn't the greatest stadium, and that they're looking to build a new one. I took a look at the publicly stated options and chose one near Fox Technical High School on the Northwest side of the city. I then rechristened the park Lewis Wolff Park, made HEB the sponsor, and here is my Christmas present to you all:
New zip file can be found here Original File can be found here Ignore the Lew Wolff Park bit - it shows up correctly in game, but I got my Wolff's confused when I was building it out. https://i1279.photobucket.com/albums...psuu8wi79q.png Daytime: https://i.imgur.com/sZel3mK.png Nighttime https://i.imgur.com/jnOS0BG.png |
A few other cities to consider doing not on your list that have AAA balkparks and teams in my fictional Major League are:
Buffalo Oklahoma City Tulsa Richmond Raleigh/Durham These are great. Thanks for doing this. |
MCU Park - Brooklyn, NY, NY
For this park we're taking a trip to Coney Island to ride the ferris wheel, stare at roller coaster cars, and take in a ball game.
I took the field design and location (and a couple other features) from the current home of the Brooklyn Cyclones for this particular stadium. It's 37,500 and plays relatively neutrally. I absolutely LOVE the ferris wheel.

First Tennessee Park - Nashville, TN
First, I want to say that I think this park is absolutely gorgeous in real life. I enjoyed looking at pictures of First Tennessee more than any other stadium (and watching their youtube video - I may do it for fun in the future), so I hope this stadium does it justice.
The park plays pretty pitcher friendly in real life, which is reflected in the model. There is a slight advantage for left handed hitters, particularly with the short wall in left field. I also put in blank scoreboards that you should be able to customize in GIMP and insert with sketchup - let me know if you want anything adjusted. I'm able to download that from the warehouse. Looking at the model, you are presenting the "backs" of a lot of the faces. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but it does for things like scoreboards, ads, and such. It also affects crowds, but only if you're going to do 3D crowds.
It's pretty easy in SketchUp to see what face is presented. Just go to the View menu, choose Face Style and then Monochrome. White is the "front" of the face, and gray is the "back". Here's how Stade Canac looks: https://i.imgur.com/shbUpN5.png So you can see the scoreboards are reversed - all you should have to do is reverse those faces and you should be good to go. |

I checked it out. IT is what I thought. If you go to VIEW -> FACE STYLE -> Monochrome, you will see all of the faces and what direction they are facing. I generally have a rule to have most faces with the white side facing. If you have the dark side facing, as your model does for the scoreboard textures, you will get the reverse of the white side in OOTP no matter how it looks in sketchup. Just flip those faces and move the textures to center them, and re-export. |
Thanks gentlemen! I made the adjustment to the Stade Canac file and will probably work my way back through the rest of my files. I really appreciate the help. Here's an updated picture - I loaded the new model into the google drive link above:

Updates on the Google Drive Folders
Thanks to Silvam and eriqjaffe's feedback (and a day off of of work after a busy stretch recently) I spent some time today going back through the models I made and adjusted them accordingly.
I also added template files to all of the ribbons, scoreboards, and logos in the stadiums (except for one in Charlotte - couldn't figure out how to make the BB&T logo stay put on top of the scoreboard.) You should be able to open the template files in GIMP, change the template or create your own file, and overwrite the .png or .jpeg file in the texture folder. Thank you everyone for your feedback - it's been incredibly helpful in this process. |
Autozone Park - Memphis, TN
Autozone Park is a pretty beautiful park placed in the midst of downtown Memphis. I tried to create a bit of surrounding skyline, but because the stadium is kind of compact the camera angle doesn't end up showing it.
Otherwise, this is a relatively hitter friendly park - it's a bit smaller than average, which helps with home runs. New zip file can be found here Original Zip File can be found here http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/...psvqknlt6r.png https://i.imgur.com/qF1e1rV.png |
ONEOK Field - Tulsa, OK
Quote:
It plays a little pitcher friendly, but because it's smaller it also allows a few more home runs. New zip file can be found here Original Zip file can be found here http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/...psykqg2qny.png Night https://i.imgur.com/CZG3XAb.png Day https://i.imgur.com/kkS3Zq0.png |
I love how you did the concrete textures here. Looks really sharp with lots of detail.
