The Wide, Wide World of Baseball
This is a save that began the day I bought OOTP 23. I do not control any of the teams, instead acting as the "commissioner" of the larger baseball world as a whole. It features a total of 32 leagues and 10 tournaments in its current form, and continues to grow every day, with 350+ years of history in the books. (If you follow the OOTP reddit you may have seen my post about this save last year.)
That is, until last week. Long story short, I have a very old PC, it decided to do "very old PC" things in the middle of saving that world. Poof! That world is no more. I could have reverted to a backup and lost a bunch of history, or I could buy OOTP 26, recreate it, and document it here. So without further ado, welcome to the Wide World of Baseball... https://i.imgur.com/Ga6HXDr.png https://i.imgur.com/O35hOqR.png https://i.imgur.com/SEx4395.png https://i.imgur.com/umwGWXG.png https://i.imgur.com/Y1KxYkm.png https://i.imgur.com/OJcyTcH.png (Disclaimer: Some of the team logos you will see in this thread were made by me, most were not. That credit goes to knuckler, txranger, 20_range and many other much more talented users on this forum.) I will detail each of these leagues in the posts to follow. |
The Major League
https://i.imgur.com/Ga6HXDr.png
We begin in 2058, 14 years after the creation of this world, where Major League Baseball looks... a little different. Gone are the minors, replaced by a five-tier pro-rel system that resembles European soccer (this could be entirely inaccurate as I do not watch European soccer). The previous iteration of this world had 9 tiers of relegation, that has been reduced this time around for multiple reasons. The Major League features the top-16 teams across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. The top-5 teams make the playoffs, where they compete for the familiar World Series. Seasons are 120 games long, each team plays one another 8 times. There is no Spring Training, and as of now, no minor league affiliates for any teams in the pro-rel system. https://i.imgur.com/RRzrugs.png (2058 Major League Standings) At the end of each Major League season, the bottom-two teams are relegated to the Union League (T-II). Like the ML, the Union League is also 16 teams (as are the Continental and Country Leagues), promoting its top-2 to the Major League. Union League teams play 100 games per season, and the bottom-4 teams are relegated to T-III. https://i.imgur.com/Biq6Dfl.png (2058 Union League Standings) Next up is the Continental League (T-III), the purgatory of our pro-rel system. Teams in the Continental League play 82 games per year, the top-4 and bottom-4 leave the league at seasons' end. https://i.imgur.com/48MRcIk.png (2058 Continental League Standings) I like to call the Country League (T-IV) the place where careers go to die. This is the lowest tier of relegation available for veteran players. Just like T-III, teams play 82 games each and the top-4 are promoted. However in T-IV, the bottom-six teams are relegated. https://i.imgur.com/d6yt8Om.png (2058 Country League Standings) Our last (and least!) tier of relegation is the Grassroots League (T-V). T-V is the largest level of our pro-rel system, featuring 20 teams playing 82 games each. Players over 26 years old are prohibited in the Grassroots League. https://i.imgur.com/bM5rdd3.png (2058 Grassroots League Standings) The most recent World Series champion is the Louisville Sluggers! Congrats, Louisville. https://i.imgur.com/AjzlQ8D.png |
The Major International Leagues
[deleted]
|
Saudi League
https://i.imgur.com/HZiLjLW.png
The Saudi League is the richest of what I call the "National Leagues", which are smaller international leagues that mostly cover either one country or a very specific region. The Saudi League semi-frequently lures players from other leagues with big contracts, but has failed to land a Major League superstar thus far. https://i.imgur.com/mO0owf7.png (2058 Saudi League standings) The Saudi League's most successful team so far has been the Dubai Dodgers, winners of 8 out of 15 Saudi Series titles so far. The Medina Green Caps are the only team to not yet win a title in the Saudi League. |
The EuroLeague
https://i.imgur.com/lRQS5r6.png
The EuroLeague is Europe's premier baseball league, one of four "Major International Leagues" in this world. 32 teams spanning across the continent compete to play in the Euro Series. Teams are allowed to keep up to 40 players on their roster, but only 25 foreigners. https://i.imgur.com/cI1UFsd.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/u0IJ27p.png (2058 EuroLeague standings) So far, the EuroLeague's most successful teams have been Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, with two Euro Series titles each. Berlin has won each of the last two. |
Pacific SuperLeague
https://i.imgur.com/eE6GP8l.png
The Pacific SuperLeague was created after a merger between the former Pacific League (Oceania) and Asian SuperLeague. It features 32 teams who each play 100 games. The same roster rules apply in the PSL as in the EuroLeague. https://i.imgur.com/RR1UyGB.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/EKcAZz9.png Osaka, Melbourne and Adelaide have been the most successful PSL teams so far, with two titles each. |
Latin League
https://i.imgur.com/Tk2IPo1.png
The Latin League covers Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. 32 teams play 80 games each from December to February and are split into Ligo Centroamericano and Liga Sudamericana. https://i.imgur.com/7DESkXf.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/kKsiAhz.png (2058 Latin League standings) Caracas, Barquisimeto, Porto Velho and La Paz have been the most successful franchises in the first 15 years, with 2 titles each. The most recent Serie Latina was won by Barquisimeto over Santo Domingo in 6 games. |
African League
https://i.imgur.com/0kEXZYL.png
The African League is the last of our four "Major International Leagues." 12 teams play 60 games each, with the top-6 advancing to the playoffs. https://i.imgur.com/vPj96XK.png (2058 African League standings) Cape Town, Nairobi, and Lagos have dominated the AFL, with 5, 4, and 3 Africa Series titles, respectively. |
Nippon League
https://i.imgur.com/S4VvUb4.png
This is the first time I've seen my Nippon League logo blown up this large, and uh, that stance-- I don't think that's gonna work. Those hips do not lie. The Nippon League is Japan's National League. Teams are limited to just 6 foreigners among their 26 players on the active roster, as is the case with most of the National Leagues. The NPL season is 80 games long and includes 8 Japanese teams. https://i.imgur.com/SQdMknI.png (2058 Nippon League standings) The Tokyo Athletics have completely dominated the NPL, winning the last 8 consecutive Nippon Series titles, and 10 in total. Niigata is the only other team with multiple (2). Nagoya, Chiba, and Saitama have also won titles. |
Korea League
https://i.imgur.com/m19X5sF.png
The Korea League is, you guessed it, the National League of Korea. 9 teams from South Korea, and one team from North Korea play 60 games each per season. This is one of the few National Leagues with mandatory military service requirements. https://i.imgur.com/XDTNwcu.png (2058 Korea League standings) Busan leads the way in the KOL, with 4 Korea Series championships so far. No, Pyongyang has not won a championship yet. |
https://i.imgur.com/hxq6LTM.png
The Chinese Pro League was actually the first of the National Leagues I created in this world. It's never made much sense to me that China, a nation of over a billion people, isn't churning out baseball players. Now, they are! The CPL features five Chinese teams and one team from Hong Kong. https://i.imgur.com/TlHMTMY.png (2058 CPL standings) Chongqing (10) and Shanghai (5) are the only teams to win the China Series so far, the Mala defeated the Emperors in 5 games in the most recent series. |
Liga Brasil
https://i.imgur.com/p8IjDyb.png
Liga Brasil is Brazil's National League, featuring 6 exclusively Brazilian teams. This league, along with the Latin League, has caused baseball's popularity to skyrocket in Brazil, creating a world baseball powerhouse nation. The season takes place from November to January. https://i.imgur.com/x9ou1lM.png (2057 Liga Brasil standings) In six seasons of Liga Brasil baseball, Brasilia leads the way with three championships. Fortaleza, Belo Horizante and Salvador each have one. |
Liga DominiCubana
https://i.imgur.com/McjmmeA.png
Liga DominiCubana is a more recent addition, just having wrapped up their third season. As the name may suggest, the DCL is a combined National League for the Dominican Republic and Cuba. There are 12 teams who play 60 games each from April to June. https://i.imgur.com/Tx9dIdp.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/Uo8hQpZ.png (2058 Liga DominiCubana standings) The three champions of the DCL so far have been Las Tunas, San Francisco, and La Romana. |
México League
https://i.imgur.com/fbrK3sV.png
The México League is (waits for audience to answer). Correct! Yes, the National League of Mexico! The league features 6 teams playing 70 games each and will be expanding very soon. https://i.imgur.com/76zW1vA.png (2058 Mexico League standings) Cancun has dominated the Mexico League, with 9 championships in 15 seasons. They won the most recent Serie Mexico in 6 games over Guadalajara. |
Nederlandse Honkbal Liga
https://i.imgur.com/T4i5gIY.png
With by far the best name out of any of these leagues, Nederlandse Honkbal Liga is the Netherlands' National League. Amsterdam has absolutely dominated this league, winning 12 out of 15 championships. Tilburg has triumphed twice, and Den Haag once. https://i.imgur.com/UPsOjyR.png (2058 Nederlandse Honkbal Liga standings) |
Canada League
https://i.imgur.com/vKvx7YP.png
The Canada League is made up of 10 Canadian teams, with more being added soon. The "First Nations" team is based in Winnipeg, home to Canada's largest indigenous population. They have the most championships with 4. Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver have 3 each, Nova Scotia has 2. https://i.imgur.com/2ejuShf.png (2058 Canada League standings) |
Quickstart?
Quickstart? I'd love to get my hands on those logos!
|
Česká Liga
https://i.imgur.com/WIUhZaQ.png
The Czech Republic's Česká Liga is yet another 6-team National League. Plzne has won 4 titles so far, Brna 3, and Pardubic 2. The only team without a championship so far is Liberce. https://i.imgur.com/wz7mNwg.png |
Quote:
Will definitely make a quickstart once this project is finished. There's still some more I want to add. |
Deutschliga
https://i.imgur.com/GamlDvk.png
Deutschliga is Germany's National League, and began play for about 10 years with two teams having misspelled logos. Yes, I took German class in high school. No, I did not pass. Hamburg has completely gotten this league under its boot, winning the last 7 championships and 8 of the last 9. Köln is the only other team with multiple titles (2). https://i.imgur.com/Lvtcqfx.png (2058 Deutschliga standings) |
Filip-Indo League
https://i.imgur.com/RQWXXXa.png
The Filip-Indo League is another combination of National Leagues, with 4 teams from each of Indonesia and the Philippines. This league was born out of each of these nations becoming baseball superpowers in the previous iteration of this world. Filipino teams have claimed 7 titles so far, Indonesian teams have 8. The most successful teams have been Manila with 4 championships, Surabaya and Medan with 3 each, and Cebu City with 2. https://i.imgur.com/aSqGWkA.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/Y5AuEVd.png (2058 Filip-Indo League standings) The most recent championship was won by Medan in a sweep of Davao. |
India League
https://i.imgur.com/nyW28CX.png
I feel like at some point India has to get into baseball, right? A billion people who love cricket? Seems like a natural fit. The India League has been around for 12 years, with the Ahmedabad Sabarmatis the team to beat. They've won 7 championships so far. The only team within sight is Delhi, who has won 3. https://i.imgur.com/uHAzfje.png (2058 India League standings) |
Lega Italia
https://i.imgur.com/hMrRVL6.png
Lega Italia seems to be, as far as I can tell, a cruel joke on those who love baseball in the city of Genova. 4 out of the 6 ITL teams have a historic winning percentage over .500, one more is just 6 games under .500. Genova, on the other hand, is .392. Every team in Lega Italia has won the championship other than Genova. Palermo has 5, Roma has 4, Torino has 3, Napoli has 2, Milano has 1. If you need a team to root for in Lega Italia, pick the Genova Galeoni. Someday, it'll be their day. https://i.imgur.com/OaPfn9L.png (2058 Lega Italia standings) |
Lega Gran Colombia
https://i.imgur.com/VEkCXif.png
(I apologize to the people of Ecuador, once I get better at photoshop I will fix the crest of your flag.) Liga Gran Colombia is the newest league added to the Wide World of Baseball, it begins play this November and features teams from Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The league is named after the short-lived 19th century state of Gran Colombia. https://i.imgur.com/gtuq8P3.png (Inaugural season teams for Liga Gran Colombia) |
Ligue de France
https://i.imgur.com/4gI6G16.png
Ligue de France just wrapped up its 4th season. The champions so far are as follows: 2055: Bordeaux Rivaux 2056: Nantes Marins 2057: Bordeaux Rivaux 2058: Toulouse Fusees https://i.imgur.com/A7yZwEx.png (2058 Ligue de France standings) |
Nordic League
https://i.imgur.com/CCjmG9I.png
You're gonna want to wear long sleeves in the Nordic League. I'm calling this a "National League" but I'm really stretching the definition of my own term here (just wait, I'll do it again!). The Nordic League features one team each from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Ĺland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. Copenhagen leads the way with 5 championships. Each team other than Ĺland has won at least one. https://i.imgur.com/nCI35T0.png (2058 Nordic League standings) Ísland (Iceland) is the latest champion, defeating Gothenburg in 5 games. |
Suid-Afrikaanse Liga
Do you feel compelled to waste an entire afternoon? Try getting an image-generating AI to spell stuff in Afrikaans (it's really hard!).
https://i.imgur.com/ncxgaBi.png The Suid-Afrikaanse Liga, based in South Africa, is the only National League in the continent. Nine seasons in, the dominant team is currently the Bloemfontein Rose, who have won the last three championships. They most recently defeated Durban in 5 games. https://i.imgur.com/iRHqaS8.png (2058 Suid-Afrikaanse Liga standings) |
UK League
https://i.imgur.com/6IKuU7Q.png
The UK League features teams in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Teams are limited to 6 foreign players, a rule which Isle of Man in particular is petitioning to change (I am changing it immediately after I finish this post.) https://i.imgur.com/bZTyMP3.png (2058 UK League standings) London (6), Birmingham (6), and Manchester (3) are the only teams in the UK League to win championships so far, the most recent being Birmingham over Sheffield in 6 games. |
Baltic League
https://i.imgur.com/3loVfa3.png
The Baltic League logo is an example of pretty good idea, pretty poor execution on my part. Will definitely be remaking this one in the future. The BAL consists of two teams each from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. https://i.imgur.com/ErY57Ch.png (2058 Baltic League standings) The Baltic League began play this past season, with its inaugural championship won by Kauno over Vilniaus in 6 games. |
Middle Eastern League
https://i.imgur.com/gF7nBLR.png
Our final international league, the Middle Eastern League spans from Egypt to India, and primarily features teams in the Middle East. There are 14 teams in the Middle Eastern League. https://i.imgur.com/0DDFIWm.png (2058 Middle Eastern League standings) |
Olympiad Tournament
https://i.imgur.com/Ze9aSnR.png
The Olympiad is the biggest international tournament in this world, held annually at a rotation of host sites. It includes the top-32 baseball nations in the world, split into groups of 4. Each team plays 6 games within their group with the top-2 advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs are then split into two round robins, each of which advance two teams for a four-team playoff. https://i.imgur.com/DFtjQYK.png (2058 Olympiad Playoff Tree) |
Love what you've done here mate, graphics are fantastic and the world-building is next-level. Hope it plays out as you want it to!

International Tournaments
https://i.imgur.com/r97jKSF.png
In addition to the Olympiad, players can also compete for their countries in one of 10 international tournaments. These tournaments are held in the fall, between the end of the Major League season and opening day for leagues in the Southern Hemisphere. https://i.imgur.com/ajccjfb.png The Africa Cup is made up of the top-20 baseball nations in Africa, split into North and South divisions. The top-5 teams in each division advance to a round robin playoff similar to the Olympiad. The Africa Cup has been won by Egypt (6x), South Africa (6x), Ethiopia (once), and Nigeria (once). https://i.imgur.com/bL96bfp.png The Asia Cup is comprised of 20 Asian nations split into a "Pro League" and a "Challenger League." 6 teams from the Pro League and 2 teams from the Challenger League advance to a round robin playoff. The teams in each league are: Pro League: Japan, South Korea, China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong Challenger League: Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Mongolia. If a team from the Challenger League wins the Asia Cup, they will be promoted to the Pro League, with the team last place in the Pro League demoted. This has yet to happen. The Asia Cup has been won by Japan (7x), South Korea (4x), India (2x), and China (once). https://i.imgur.com/2cpOS4Z.png The EuroCup is made up of 48 countries across Europe, with teams split into four divisions of 12. Teams play 11 games in the regular season, with the top-4 in each group advancing to a round robin playoff. The EuroCup has been won by the Netherlands (4x), France (3x), England (3x), Germany (2x), Spain (once) and Italy (once). https://i.imgur.com/L8W4k9G.png The Caribe Cup features 20 countries from the Caribbeans, split into four divisions, the Caribe East and West, and the Antilles North and South. Teams play 4 games each in the regular season, once against each opponent in their division. The top-4 in each "Caribe" division advance, while only first place in the Antilles divisions advance. Puerto Rico (7x), Dominican Republic (5x), and Cuba (2x) have won Caribe Cups so far. https://i.imgur.com/M0S60T9.png The Latin America Cup stretches across Central and South America, comprised of 22 nations split into three geographically-based divisions. The top-two teams from each division advance to a single round robin playoff. Champions of the Latin America Cup so far have been: Venezuela (6x), Colombia (4x), Mexico (2x), Brazil (once) and Panama (once). https://i.imgur.com/SE8NXkz.png The Middle East Cup is made up of 25 countries split into five divisions. 10 teams advance to a single-group round robin playoff. The Middle East Cup has been won by Saudi Arabia (5x), Turkey (3x), Israel (2x), Iran (2x), Pakistan (once) and Qatar (once). https://i.imgur.com/YSjMAO8.png The States Cup is my personal favorite tournament to watch. Rather than play for Team USA, American players instead suit up for their home state/territory. The States Cup features all 50 states, plus 5 U.S. territories. Puerto Rico is not included, as they are occupied with the Caribe Cup. States Cup winners: Texas (3x), California (2x), Illinois (2x), Arizona (once), Washington (once), Florida (once), New York (once). https://i.imgur.com/jbdVTOJ.png The Canada Cup will be Canada's version of the States Cup. It is currently a work in progress. https://i.imgur.com/32ZbgHS.png The Oceania Cup is also a work in progress, and will be Oceania's international tournament. |
Global Amateur Championship
https://i.imgur.com/28qduPA.png
I'm a big hockey guy, and every year I love watching the World Juniors. That is where the idea for the Global Amateur Championship came from. The GAC, however, is a bit more involved... https://i.imgur.com/dc9omf1.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/KXQVLmc.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/FySHjWh.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/xpcU4IZ.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/GNQHCmj.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/LZeY6Kh.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/EvQzOi4.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/CeFaZ8N.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/lMyscOL.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/x16DxE9.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/2ppEnEC.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/rxMUWai.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/FndAA9L.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/4qrSjDN.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/gVAcANG.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/pISViFF.png The GAC, in total, includes 128 nations split into 16 divisions of 8 teams each. The top-5 from each group advance into a single-elimination, 80-team playoff. Teams are only allowed to select players with zero days of service time across all leagues. Past GAC champions: United States (7x), Dominican Republic (3x), Venezuela (once), Japan, France, Australia |

I appreciate the kind words. Been lots of fun (and hard work) setting it all up. |
League of Legends
https://i.imgur.com/Dfs33K5.png
The League of Legends was spawned by a joking comment on one of my posts on r/OOTP, and this is what I came up with. The LoL is a tournament for draft eligible high school and college prospects that takes place shortly before the draft. Prospects are sorted into teams by nationality, and each nation's team is named after a legendary player (or players) from that nation from the previous iteration of this world. This is my way of memorializing those lost in the great PC crash of March 2025. https://i.imgur.com/PrcoS4E.png (League of Legends teams) |
Native League
https://i.imgur.com/mA2i5Fd.png
The Native League is the only league in this world classified as an "Independent League." The NAL is limited to players under 28 years old, and free agents are not allowed to enter the league from other leagues. Teams are limited to only American players. The idea here is that all players in the Native League would have Native American heritage, so that's the headcanon we're working with. https://i.imgur.com/M7dnbNJ.png (2058 Native League standings) |
Antarctic Research League
https://i.imgur.com/HtagDX2.png
Last but not least, we have The Antarctic Research League. The ARL is entirely quarantined from the rest of the baseball world, no free agents come in, and none leave. This league is where I run experiments on our players such as massive rule changes, tiny rosters, and genetic modification. Our most recent test subject was Knuckle Arbuckle (originally known as Jim Arbuckle). Knuckle was the worst player in the 2046 ARL draft before our scientists blessed him with a maxed out knuckleball and literally no other attributes. No actual scientific value is derived from the Antarctic Research League. https://i.imgur.com/twZqzTr.png (2058 Antarctic Research League Standings) |
(Deep exhale)
I believe that's everything. I will continue to document this league, starting with the upcoming season, here in this thread. As the league evolves, I'll post about each new league I create. I plan on creating a post on the Mods board with the logos I've created, just need to sort out what is original and what I got from other users here. I want to thank once again everyone who's logos I've utilized in making this save. Without the hard work of the folks here, this all would have stayed an idea in my head. This is also my first post on this forum, so hello everyone! I hope you've enjoyed, and hopefully you stick around to see where we go next in the Wide World of Baseball. |
Wow! I love seeing so many of my logos out in the world! Let me know if you want something touched up or altered, or anything new :)

October, 2058
Here in the real world, we love October for packed stadiums, playoff baseball and not feeling compelled to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates anymore. In the Wide World of Baseball, the Major League playoffs happen in September, leaving October for a different kind of excitement. If the WWoB were a real-world entity, it would probably operate on some sort of league calendar. If it did, October would be the beginning of the new league year.
October 1 marks opening day for each of our International Tournaments. It is a very fun day to live sim and switch through the different tournaments watching the live scores. That is what I have been doing for the last 20 minutes. By the end of the month, each tournament has crowned a champion. Africa Cup https://i.imgur.com/s8Ml4wm.png For the first time, the Democratic Republic of Congo wins the Africa Cup! Led by the Africa League's Mellal Omwayo, who had a .952 OPS in the tournament, and young starter Bayisa Boudiaf, who put up a 0.71 ERA in his Africa Cup debut. Tournament MVP: Habtamu Berui (Nigeria) - 72 PA, .390/.486/.898, 8 HR, 284 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Tom Oliver (South Africa) - 24.2 IP, 0.36 ERA, 26/1 K/BB, shutout vs. Zimbabwe https://i.imgur.com/NppsiUo.png Asia Cup https://i.imgur.com/HR7LUqm.png For the third straight year, and 5th in the last 6, Japan wins the Asia Cup. Japan capitalized on huge performances by former NPL star Kenta Inouye, who hit put up an 1.157 OPS, current NPL star Zaijiro Nakamura, who hit a tournament-leading 7 runs, as well as Latin League pitcher Keiichi Curval, who pitched 22.2 shutout innings in the tournament. Tournament MVP: Kuang-an Ngui (China) - 71 PA, .314/.507/.608, 4 HR, 204 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Yin-ti Huang (Mongolia) - 24.0 IP, 0.38 ERA, 31/3 K/BB, 1171 ERA+ https://i.imgur.com/qSFD31G.png Caribe Cup https://i.imgur.com/vhH1fLm.png For the fourth straight year, and the sixth overall, the Dominican Republic wins the Caribe Cup. It took the DR three games to beat Cuba, led by Liga DominiCubana alumni Marcos Maez and Santos Reyes. Tournament MVP: Marcos Maez (Dominican Republic) - 79 PA, .373/.519/.678, 5 HR, 212 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Ricky Bendezu (Puerto Rico) - 25.1 IP, 0.36 ERA, 35/2 K/BB, shutout vs. Antigua and Barbuda https://i.imgur.com/tIMA35I.png Euro Cup https://i.imgur.com/YsBxJtO.png The Cinderella story of this year's Euro Cup was Team Latvia, bolstered by an influx of players from the Baltic League. However, their run ended at the hands of Everton Turner, Zak Butler, and the firepower of Team England, who earned their 4th Euro Cup. Tournament MVP: Everton Turner (England) - 77 PA, .397/.532/.724, 4 HR, 217 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Angel Rodriguez (Spain) - 34.1 IP, 0.26 ERA, 55/2 K/BB, 2 shutouts https://i.imgur.com/AbEd76l.png Latin America Cup https://i.imgur.com/Y8GPNC9.png Team Venezuela wins their 7th Latin America Cup, led in part by Simone Demeo, this past season's Major League home run leader, and Major League veteran Emilio Contreras. Tournament MVP: Alex Garcia (Colombia) - 56 PA, .426/.518/.851, 5 HR, 262 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Javier Mireles (Panama) - 1 start, 8.1 IP, 15/1 K/BB, 0.00 ERA https://i.imgur.com/GXuId8G.png Middle East Cup https://i.imgur.com/XD5YKl4.png The Middle East Cup ends with a Saudi Arabia victory over Turkey, their 6th cup title. Led by tournament MVP Radi Abdul-Quddus, they lost just one game on their way to the championship. Tournament MVP: Radi Abdul-Quddus (Saudi Arabia) - 77 PA, .313/.403/.627, 6 HR, 197 OPS+ Best Pitcher: Akara Evren (Turkey) - 22.0 IP, 0.82 ERA, 31/3 K/BB https://i.imgur.com/KlnDcLX.png States Cup https://i.imgur.com/iHE89k5.png Surprisingly enough, this is Florida's first States Cup championship. Led by the experience of Mike Hopkins and Kyle Cochran, they swept Texas in two games in the championship series. https://i.imgur.com/tL6u9mm.png https://i.imgur.com/MBd5It7.png Global Amateur Championship https://i.imgur.com/5wUE3Q1.png The United States wins their 4th straight Global Amateur Championship with an emphatic 10-0 victory over Team Italy. Led by tournament MVP Mike Oxford, the U.S. went undefeated, winning their games by a combined score of 153-23. Tournament MVP: Mike Oxford (United States) Best Pitcher: Jorge Mercado (Curacao) Next up is the Latin League, Liga Brasil, Sudi-Afrikaanse Liga, and Liga Gran Colombia seasons. Performance of the Month - November, 2058
I'm going to pick one outstanding game by a single player for each month, as often as I remember to do it. This may be the first of many of these, or I might forget about tomorrow.
Anyways, our top performance for November comes from South Africa in the SAL, where Gqeberha's Hisham Kirop defeated his hometown Durban Indringers all by himself. The Seemeeue stormed back from a 5-1 deficit behind Kirop's three home runs, and a final score of Kirop 7 - Durban 6. https://i.imgur.com/flBtxRD.png |

Performance of the Month: Jonathan Tamayo
The Latin League's Panama Niveladores get a heck of a gift on Festivus 2058 from Jonathan Tamayo (Career stats), who threw the first no-hitter of the 2058-59 LL season against the San Salvador Volcanoes. As of January 1, Panama is 22-18 and firmly in the playoff picture. https://i.imgur.com/SxIUyDT.png Leagues in Progress (as of Jan. 1, 2059) Latin League - 40/80 games complete - Standings https://i.imgur.com/VzuRyC4.png Liga Brasil - 46/60 games complete - Standings https://i.imgur.com/i4pJtgy.png Liga Gran Colombia - 46/60 games complete - Standings https://i.imgur.com/kqKf4h6.png Suid-Afrikaanse Liga - 40/60 games complete - Standings https://i.imgur.com/wutEWTD.png Coming up in January, the playoffs in South Africa, Brazil, and Gran Colombia, and we'll find out if anybody makes the 2059 WWoB Hall of Fame class. |
2059 Hall of Fame Vote
Hey friend, I heard you like Hall of Fame Voting Results.
https://i.imgur.com/s3IuEUv.png As can be expected with worlds this new, nobody was elected to the Hall of Fame across any of our leagues this year. The closest was Puerto Rican 2B Alex Rios (Stats), who earned 72% of the vote in the EuroLeague. No other player earned more than 40% of their respective leagues' vote. However, we do have some players who have already been inducted. The first of which were voted in back in 2056. Ottawa native Gene Messier was the Canada League's first superstar, winning 4-straight MVPs from 2044 to 2047. Some fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths however, when Messier took the big check and left for the Saudi League. Messier never matched his greatness overseas, but was welcomed back by his home country with a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction. https://i.imgur.com/37HigSh.png Youp Dohmen, a native of Emmen, Drenthe in the Netherlands, won the 2045, '46, and '47 Nederlandse Honkbal Liga MVP's before heading to the Major League, where he spent 4 years as one of the league's best catchers with the St. Louis Cardinals. Dohmen was elected first ballot in 2056 with 87.9% of the vote. https://i.imgur.com/jnrB5IL.png For my money, the Filip-Indo League's Satya Ernalia earned his induction the most. Ernalia was elected in 2058, after spending his entire career in the FIL. An Indonesia native, he led two different Indonesian teams to FIL titles in 2044 and 2050, and won the league's MVP award in 2045 and 2048. Since he's our first inductee into a league where he was a lifer, he will be honored this upcoming season by the FIL. The MVP award will be renamed to the Piala Ernalia (Indonesian for Ernalia Trophy). https://i.imgur.com/UY8nuJo.png |
If anyone has ideas for more leagues to add to this game, feel free to give suggestions! So far on the to-do list I've got:
International Leagues: - Liga Ibérica (Spain/Portugal) - Rossiyskaya Liga (Russia) / Liga Blizhnego Zarubezh'ya (Near Abroad League, for former Soviet nations) - Thịy Līk (Thailand) - Ellinikó Protáthlima (Greece) - Najeriya League (Nigeria) Other Stuff: - Little League and/or LLWS - I have tried a Little League World Series in a past game with limited success, mostly because I set it up as a tournament rather than a league. Since tournaments can't generate real players, it generated temporary players to fill all of my rosters. I was actually okay with this, obviously most kids who play in the LLWS don't ever play pro baseball. What sucks though, is that temporary player stats obviously do not get saved. So I had a league that pretty much gave me a champion each year... and that was it. Not great. Anyone have experience with creating players younger than high school before? I figure I can set the age limits for this specific league's player generation to 10-12, and do the same with active roster limits. But, what happens to them after? Do they start playing in high school, or will I just end up with a bunch of 13 year old free agents? I don't want 13 year old free agents. - Canada Cup and Oceania Cup. I'll have these done by October 2059. |
