Bug: A Guy Named Joe

I have seen this mentioned in other threads, but the name files seem to generate an inordinate amount of players named Joe. I checked the first name file, and "John" has a much higher frequency. However, wayyyy more Joes than John. You could field whole teams with Joes.

So, what I did was went into the name file and cut every name with a frequency in double digits in half. We will see if that changes how many Joes I get.

For now, I was deleting the Joes in the free agency market, which is a bit tedious because of the Scouting Report bug I mentioned.

Have to concur. An excessive amount of joes, especially in the hispanic names.

Think this was reported tho.

I have 3 Joe's and 3 Jose's on my 25 man roster, 5 more Joe's and 3 more Jose's in 3 levels of minor leagues. That makes a grand total of 8 Joe's and 6 Jose's in my organization.

well, there is I believe a Joestown Mississippi.

So you could have the Joestown Joes, all populated by Joes you find in the league.

Probably would be a pretty good team too. ;)

I think this issue may be something else...if this is posted elsewhere please forgive me.

It seems the game is programmed to put "you" in the game. It appears to me that it takes this information from the Human Manager screen name at the beginning of the game.

I say this because I changed the name to "Christopher Kiriakis" which is an inside joke in our family. I'm using Cooley's name files because I had a small 19th century league. However I have a TON of "Christopher", "Christoph", "Christo", "Chri", etc. and a TON of variations on the last name. I also have seen variations on the "Unknown" name that the game starts with. Therefore, I get several "Christoph Unkno's" and "Christo Unk's."

I noticed the post that says this was reported so please don't attack me. I just noticed what I think the issue may be and I wanted to post as clarification.

Interesting, I didn't use "Joe Unknown" in my league, but I'll have to check if there are a lot of folks with my name in there as well.

Also, I'm not certain it's been reported, just thought I saw it was.

Well, if they don't put in the delete all free agents options button in the next few patches, perhaps Markus and the gang will compromise by adding a
"Randomize all players with the first name of Joe" button.:bonk:

This has been fixed in the first patch.
