Imported 6.5 League is really slow to sim

I imported a league i've had since v4 and its in 2169. I got it imported and didnt add any minors. I'm not saving game logs or boxscores, but it takes forever to sim even one day. Whenever i try to sim even before opening day, OOTP just sits there and i cant access it.

Is it because its in 2169? It takes about a full minute to sim a day :( I can almost sim a year in a historical league in that time. Cant figure it out.

It may be because your retired player file is very big. You can try deleting it before importing to the new version.

hmm havent thought of that. The retired.dat was 175megs. The Player.dat 62megs before i imported.
