Historical League Start Date Problem
 

Using .2260 and Arod/Garlons DB, I am trying to create a league starting in 1871. Whenever I enter 1871 into the Season Year, it automatically changes it into 1901 as soon as I finish typing the 1. Do I need to be making a fictional league instead of adding a historical league as I am currently doing, or is this a complete bug?

Seriously, though, to start in 1871 you need to either A) Download an 1871 Quickstart, or B) start in 1870, run a short season with crappy players (I usually use 4 games with a ML equivalence of about .4), and then let the ammy draft import the real players for 1871. Search around on the Historical Simulations Board to read about the various pitfalls of 19th century play.

That's.... odd. Well I can just run 1870 I guess.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Seriously, though, I must admit I'm not quite sure why this is. I suspect it's because the game is not designed to handle data from prior to 1901. I'll try to get some confirmation on this...

Sorry for the late follow-up, but the final answer, as suspected, is that the game does not officially support pre-1901 leagues. The main reason for this is that the data available for said leagues is so sketchy as to make player generation problematic.

As was mentioned, some have created 1871 leagues and so forth. You might want to start there.
