Historical Cities

Quick question, if someone could help me out that would be great. I'm running a dynasty which focuses on one family throughout the history of MLB. The origin starts with the head of the family actually being the person to get baseball going as a major league. I'm using real players and real cities at the start but I want to be able to expand or move franchises as my story progresses. Would anyone be able to tell me where to find a list that will give me city sizes by year? I used to have a pretty extensive list a few years ago but it went by the wayside when I lost my last computer.

I'm looking for something that would tell me which cities would be good for expansion in say, 1915. Hope that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated.

Do a census search at google.

This has city sizes from 1790 to 1990

Man, that's perfect. Thanks to both of you for the thoughts. I had searched on google before but I never got any results. Like an idiot I forgot that the census results are every ten years so searching for a specific year, like 1906 wouldn't give me anything. Again, thanks for the help.

btheflash, do you have anything like that for world cities? The United Nations is supposed to put out a report like that periodically, though using somewhat different criteria.

The only place I know of for world city population is

For anyone interested, this is an Access database I put together from the 10-year census surveys since 1870 that allows you to look up individual cities or individual censuses. Just go to Forms and open CityLookup. Pick a city or a year and click the button to the right of it.

This is just for the United States.
