AI Teams not signing FA's
I found this weird. I'm seeing players who've been on the market for months who probably shouldn't be. If I were an AI team, I couldn't wait to sign a pitcher with a 19-10 record, or a guy with 34 HR's but I'm in May of my next season, and they are still available
Is this a known issue? Anything I'm doing wrong? |
Youaren't doing anything wrong. SOME free agents are being signed, right? The AI makes its decosions based on the players' ratings, not their statistics.
If the 19-10 pitcher got his record through lucky pitching or good run support, the AI will take that into account and go after the 10-19 pitcher with one point better Overall rating. |
no actually, I was the only team who signed any free agents. The Phillies signe a bunch of players to minor league teams on April 5th. But besides that, nothing
|
Okay, then I retract. There MAY be a problem. I'll step aside and let someone with more expertise take over. Sorry.

How many seasons have you played out in-game? What are the finances of the other teams (do they still have money to spend)?
|
Just one season played out. I figure that may at least be part of the problem because it's not a large enough sample size, but the fact that nobody else was signed bugged me.
The other teams all have tens of millions for staff and player signings as I go cycling through them. |
Do you have a salary cap?
Are the other teams making any moves at all? Are they making trades, or at least putting players on the DL and moving them up and down from different levels of the minor leagues? |
No, and no
|
Your AI opponents aren't making any moves whatsoever? Hrm.
Do you have only one user character (manager) active in this game world? Are you certain that the other teams aren't set to be controlled by humans? Are you playing in commissioner mode? Regardless, try checking something while in commissioner mode (go to the Manager -> Home Page screen and check the "Play in Commissioner Mode" box). Then go to the Home Page of one of the AI-controlled teams and click on the "Options & Ballpark" link just below the tabs. Is the box labelled "Prevent any AI roster changes" checked? If so, you'll have to unclick it for each of your opposing teams in order to let them make moves. Finally, are you using the latest patch? It has to be something along these lines. |
I believe Nutlaw is right. Your league probably is set to disallow changes for AI teams. This is usually done in user created sets and you need to change that option for those teams to begin signing free agents.
|
Thank you Nutlaw and Goodsox for your help. I am away from my pc with the game on it, but that is more than likely the problem
|
If you are using a real world mod, either Cubby's or Erich's make sure and check to see if the AI roster moves have been turned off? I am thinking both are defaulted to AI moves turned off

I'm having a similar problem. I completed a trade, and the guy I traded for was immediately released by my team. The guy I traded away was immediately released by his new team. I noticed that there were acouple of other AI trades that resulted in both players being released. Any thoughts?? |
I have 6.5 btw, not 2006......
