9 Hour FaceGen headache STILL not fixed

I haven't even simmed a game for real yet in over 9 hours. If the game wasn't crashing earlier,it's been the FaceGen. One minute it's working,I close the game, come back in,and it's not initialized anymore. I have updated drivers. I have a Radeon Xpress 200m.

I know it works because I've had it running today, the problem is there is something reseting it to Not intilalize once you exit the game and get back in.

Does anyone have any idea what to do?

Are you using your absolute latest drivers?

Yes I am. Newest ATI drivers.

TC Dale 03-22-2007 08:08 PM

Ok this is assuming a few things, By looking at your screenshot, you have the Open GL drivers as default. What happens if you go back to Direct 3D and make sure those are good to go? (Does it work or not work with D3D as default...? Or maybe going with default settings instead of custom for OpenGL?)

Solonor 03-22-2007 08:41 PM

I don't know how helpful this is, but one of our league GM's found that facegen wouldn't work until he went to the previous drivers, instead of the latest.

Video cards is crazy!

Queensryche 03-23-2007 10:36 PM

So...once again..I submit a FaceGen problem

It's still not working on a Radeon Xpress 200M video card. It works off and on. It's never stable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Can someone else do some testing on this to find a solution. It's killing my desire to play this game.

Queensryche 03-23-2007 10:42 PM

Oh goodie, now my league data is corrupt out of the blue. The last 2 days I've spent setting up my league is now down the drain. GREAT GAME SO FAR!!!

See the last post in this thread. Is this the driver you installed? http://www.driverheaven.net/mobility...ress-200m.html

Also, some advice - try to sound less standoff-ish in your posts. More people will try to help you. :)

I'm sorry, but you would be frustrated too if you haven't had one satisfying moment yet with a game you've looked forward to all year long. I'll try those drivers, and I do appreciate any help at all.

I can understand the frustration. It sucks when you want to play and something isn't working but a lot of the volunteer support people here also don't want to deal with people that are uber negative. Just try to be as positive as possible and I guarantee people here will try to help. :)

Make sure the driver I linked to is the right one for your computer. I can't guarantee. That is just what I found.

Queensryche 03-23-2007 11:33 PM

Nope, those drivers didn't do anything to help either.

bp_ 03-23-2007 11:38 PM

read this: http://fixthe200m.wordpress.com/2006...e-xpress-200m/

Could it be a BIOS issue?

Edit: I don't advise messing with BIOS unless u r comfortable with doing this type of thing.

You can be frustrated all you want. There's nothing wrong with that. It's the manifestations of those frustrations that the rest of us could do with out. Try that out and you might receive more help. :2cents:

Markus Heinsohn 03-24-2007 03:28 AM

I am really sorry that this does not work for you yet. But please understand that it is not a problem in the game, but a problem with your system :( We're trying all we can to help you here, please be a little bit nicer.

battists 03-24-2007 07:28 PM

Queensryche,

I know you're pretty frustrated, but we've had a few reports of people able to play the game fine with your exact video card. One person mentioned driver version 7.14.

I know you said you had the latest drivers, but could you please let me know the specific version?

Thanks!

Steve

I have an xpress 200m as well and it works for me. I don't know if you're using Vista but in my experience it gets a little buggy when I install games. OOTP 6.5 didn't even open when I first installed it, a few hours later Vista automatically searched online for a fix and it worked. Same for OOTP 2007. Facegen wasn't wasn't initializing at first (to my understanding that means the video card doesn't support it) but a few hours later it was fine and I haven't had any problems since.

bump to ensure that this gets seen and curious if QR's problem has been resolved or not.

Queensryche 03-26-2007 05:19 PM

Nope, still not resolved. Look at the clock in the bottom right of the screen on screenshots 2 and 3. As you can see,I just got out of the game, and jumped right back in,it never works the second time.

Queensryche, given the jillion options in the Catalyst software, would it make sense to review with Melo the settings on the diffent tabs? He's got the game working with the exact same drivers as yours.

Quick question for both of you:

What is your screen resolution set to, and are you playing in windowed mode or full screen?

I just feel like I'd like to see Queensryche using IDENTICAL settings to Melo, just to see if that makes a difference.
