Fielding Rating Missing
 

I started my Historical League in 1960, as that is the first year I remember anything about baseball. I am managing Cleveland (I know, I know). My issue if that Johnny Temple's fielding rating at 2B has disappeared. I noticed it on the playing field. In his profile, he is listed as a 2B. Ratings, he has a 2 at third base, nothing at second base. I go into the editor, his Position/Role is Second Base. For experience, he has 200 (maximum) at second base, 70 at third base. I have set his position to 2B, yet still, no fielding rating at 2B. He is 100% rested, Status is OK.

In real life, he played 77 games at 2B, only 17 at 3B.

Can anyone help? Thank You!

Playing with scouts "on"?

No, Scouts are not on. Under Game / Game Setup, the option to "Use Complete Scouting System" is not checked. If there is something else in reference to scouts, I may be missing it.

I saw this during Beta. I logged one TT on it for catchers, 1487, but actually saw it happen for all players. If a rating drops below a certain threshold (depends on the rating/position), the player no longer has a rating for that position. For instance, if a catcher arm drops below 10/255, he'll have no rating at catcher, even though he has full experience and fielding abilities at that position (and the editor even shows a rating for C as well). From my memory, I remember 3B losing it's rating if his infield arm really sucks, and I did other similar tests for other positions.

Markus marked the TT as Ignore, probably because this is intentional. My guess is his argument is that one of his ratings for infield has gotten so bad that he shouldn't even be considered a 2B. Judging from the behavior of OOTP around this area, it looks to be intentional.

OK, I can understand that. So I should operate on the assumption that the game is acknowledging his age and apparent deteriorating defensive skills?

I just noticed that the same thing has happened to Ted William's rating in LF. He doesn't have one.

Now...another question...Temple has committed 1 error at 2B in 12 games since I noticed his rating has disappeared. Am I gambling by continuing to play him at 2B?

One more thing...what an incredible game this is.

It may be his infield range rating that is low, which wouldn't show up as errors, but means he's still a defensive liability. I'd be concerned, but if he's better than anyone else with the bat, nothing you can do about it really.
