System Freezes when I try to look at my Pitching Staff
I've run into a problem that causes the game to freeze. While it is most apparent when I try to edit or review my pitching staff, I have had it happen with other teams screens as well. All I do is click on the pitching tab and nothing, absolutely nothing happens. When I do get a screen to open, it has been taking as long as four or five minutes. With pitching, I've left it run until I get a error message from m PC telling me I've run out of memory. This usually happens arount eh twenty minute mark.
The problem appeared after the system crashed several times during a game. I've deleted the leagues in which the proglem has occured and imported tham again. I have one game I started just to learn the different features of the game and when it crashed I simply deleted it an srarted a new game only to have it happen there I've gone back into the installation program and run the repair mode at least five times. It's so bad now that all I can do is auto-play which is not my idea of fun. I still have 2006 on my PC and it runs fine. Can you offer any suggestions to resolve this problem? |
These problems happened only with imported leagues? If you do the league wizard and create a fictional league do you run into the same issues?
|
I didn't see my reply posted. So I'm trying again. It doens't matter how the game was originated. The problem occurs in both wizard generated and imported games.
At first I thought I might have a sstem problem; but 2006 runs just fine. EVen though I'm not running both 2006 and 2007 at the same time, could there be a problem with both versions on the same system? I wouldn't think so; but then I've seen stranger things. |
What are your system specs?
Memory, HD size, processor, operating system, etc? Curious if any of this could lead to problems. |
I thought about that too; but then the program was running fine for the first few days until the game crashed.
Here are my system specs: Pentium M 1.6 GHz 512 MB Ram Windows 2000 Professional NT 20 GB hard drive 1.9 GB free space I've thought about removing the entire game and reloading; but I'm expect to be upgrading to a new PC later this year and don't want to waste one of my licenes. |

Additionally, there is nothing to worry about with license. If you uninstall and then reinstall you won't waste a license. Also, before you move to a new machine you can unlicense OOTP in the control panel so you don't lose one of the two licenses. Finally, if you have any problems with your license in the future you can always contact elicense. EDIT: FaceGen could also be the problem. It eats up a lot of resources according to some posts I've seen on the general board here. In the next patch due out soon you will be able to disable FaceGen easier. |
Also, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task Manager. Then tell me what the Commit Charge numbers are. Pretty sure we can help you through this issue. :)

Thanks for the tips. i did defrag after the problem started. I'll try creating more space on my HD. Any suggestions as to how much space I should shoot for?
|
I'll try that tonight and let you know. Thanks again.
|
15 percent free space is suggested according to the MS defrag utility.

Okay. I've finally defragged my PC I have 17% free space...took me a while to back-up and delete files. I've ran a repair on the program and am still having the same problem.
A couple of questions. 1. How do I unlicense my copy so I can start over again? 2. In one last deparate attempt, f. montoya asked for the Commit Charge Numbers after I've done a ctrl-alt-del. Where do I find them? I'd like to try this before I finally admit defeat and remove the program. Thanks. |

I have never really used that part of Task Manager before. Pardon my ignorance. Here are the numbers currently on my PC TOTAL 364160 LIMIT 1274596 PEAK 432760 What can you tell from these? |
Sorry you're having so much trouble. You won't need to unlicense. You can uninstall and reinstall and still use the same license info.
If you can't get this running, you may want to see if we can get Markus' attention and have him look at your .dat files. Perhaps battists or fidel can get you instructions on how to do this, once we on the beta team see if Markus is available to take a look. I'm sure that Markus will want to solve this. It's hard for us to figure out since we can't duplicate your problem. Hang in there and sorry for your tough start. |
schoeda, any update on your problem?
|
Sorry for not responding sooner. I was out of town with no access to the net.
This is a good news bad news response. The good news is that I have resolved this problem while I was away. The bad news is that the problem appears to have occurred in my PC just after I did my initial installation...(thus, I was allowed to run it for a breif time). I have since transferred to another PC and everything is now running well. Many thanks to everyone who attempted to help resolve this problem. Makes me even happier that I purchased this year's version. |
