game crashes on a particular date
 

hi there,

i've been struggling with this problem all day long, so finally decided to get help from you.

the problem that I have is that the game continues to crashes on a particular calendar day with a windows ERROR message ("OOTPB2007.exe: there was an error/problem with OOTPB2007.exe. Windows has to close the problem..." something along that line). it happened to me in two separate "games".

on the first occasion, i was playing a standard league (not historical), made some trades, modified my roster, and other usual managerial stuff. then i backed-up the game (i'm a huge believer in backing up)--the entire .lg folder. then opened OOTPB again, and try to play the game. but every time i got to April 28, 2007 either by manually playing or simulating, the program crashed. i tried to use the back up files over and over again, but the same problem occurred on that particular date. i even tried to uninstall and reinstall OOTPB, to no avail.

finally, i gave up on that league, and thought that maybe i ought to try a historical league. i imported the 1999 league. this time, i tried to test out whether there was an endemic bug with OOTPB or the problem that i faced arose as the game progressed. so, first, I tried to touch nothing, and as soon as the game was created, (after backing this game up) i just simulated games. everything went fine. no crash throughout the entire year.

then, confident that the problem would not occur this time, after copying the backed-up files back to the saved games folder, i tried to play the game the way I wanted to. this time, i made some trades, roster changes, and some player name changes. then, still skeptical, i backed up this game, and tried to simulate games. lo and behold, OOTPB crashed on March 5th, 1999 this time. i tried to copy the backed up files and play through, but over and over again, the same problem occurred. on that same date, 3/5/1999. i simply could not get passed that date. whether i tried to simulate or stopped on 3/4/1999 and clicked "Finish Today" button on the lower right corner of the screen, the same problem still occurred.

does this mean that I cannot do anything to my team(s) in terms of day-to-day managerial tasks?

Windows XP, Service Pack 2

Using the instructions in one of the stickied threads in this forum, could you please upload the league (.dat) files for the leagues you're having problems with. This will allow someone to look at them and also allow Markus to look at them and see if the problem can be found.
