Why is this happening?
 

Started my first game in 1955 as manager of the Phillies and have enjoyed the challenge the game brings, and I had no issues.

I just started the 1961 season, simmed it, and then took over the Mets because I wanted to go thru the expansion draft. I clicked on commissioner mode so that I could take over the Mets. My question is suddenly, I am getting players signed to my team. I will get an email notification and then will see the player on my roster? I checked the settings and everything looks normal?

Go into your managers home page/options. Check to see that you are in control of all aspects of that team?

Also, when did you take over the Mets? It's possible that the GM before you had already made some offers to free agents before you started with the team.
