Mac game start problem
as of this morning, when i try to start OOTP 2007, the icon bounces once in the dock and then quits. the game will not start. i have the feeling this is related somehow to yesterday's quicktime 7.2 update by apple, but i can't see how it _should_ matter.
i'm running OOTP 2007 2.0.2 on a MacBook with OS X 10.4.10 and all the latest updates from Apple. i already tried reinstalling OOTP and that didn't help. please help me! i'm a league commissioner and i need to get my sims posted. thanks, -n |
Don't know if this is the issue, but the behaviour you describe is precisely what happens when the Mac version isn't patched correctly. Now, I'm guessing you patched ages ago, but if you patched incorrectly once, there may be an icon in your OOTP folder that looks like the game, but isn't the game, and if you doubleclick that, it will pop up in the dock for a second then quit immediately. That happened to me in any case.

How do you rectify this?

So, I do not think it is a Quicktime issue. (^^) |
There have been two successful solutions to this problem. One works for some, the other works for others.
1. Re-run the patch and point it directly to the OOTP application (not the folder.) 2. Delete OOTP and reinstall, run patch. Good luck. Let us know if you still have troubles. |
