Going back in time

I apologize if this has been answered before...

For the second time, I've had a game that seemed to be saved properly jump back to a random past date. The first time it was a couple seasons, last time just a couple weeks. Can't figure out any rhyme or reason to the dates it went back to.

I'm running Vista.

When the game date jumps back, do all of the player histories jump back as well? Do team records or team histories jump back? What happens, exactly?

Are you using the latest patch (2.0.2.53)?

tgit 09-10-2007 05:19 PM

Player and team histories jump back as well.

I have not downloaded the latest patch.

Nutlaw 09-10-2007 05:55 PM

Please install the latest patch and let us know if it happens again.

tgit 09-10-2007 09:00 PM

I downloaded the patch. When I resumed playing, the game crashed as soon as I tried to go to my lineup screen.

Well, this is all very odd. Could you try creating a new test league, simming a few months, and clicking around to see if you can re-create the issue?

tgit 09-12-2007 12:30 AM

I can sim fine, but any time I go to the lineup or pitching staff screen it crashes.

In another league or in your original one?

tgit 09-12-2007 10:42 PM

In another league, with a different roster. I simulated a couple months without trouble, but as soon as I clicked on either the lineup or pitching staff I got the same result.

What is your computer's processor speed and memory? Are you running any other programs at the same time as OOTP?

tgit 09-13-2007 10:38 PM

Processor speed is 1.6 Ghz, with about 30 GB memory out of 68 free. I have run the game at the same time as other programs, but not recently.

Sorry for not being clearer. That is your hard drive space, I assume? Do you know how much total and available RAM you have?

tgit 09-16-2007 02:04 PM

Not sure...

tgit 09-23-2007 01:37 PM

I hate to give up on this game, but it's getting hard not to. Anyone have any ideas, even if I just have to start over?

Right click on My Computer and go to Properties. Towards the bottom of the box that pops up, it should tell you how much RAM you have.

tgit 10-03-2007 08:44 PM

Looks like I have .99 GB.

Nutlaw 10-04-2007 05:31 PM

That should be more than enough memory. I don't know what to offer other than wait for the third patch to be released and see if that makes an improvement.

tgit 10-04-2007 07:46 PM

Thanks for the help guys. Never could figure out why my initial problem took place (the jump back to a prior date), but I've adjusted some settings and got everything up and running again for now. Just have to start from scratch.

Occasionally I have a brain cramp and hit the off switch before saving my league. Instead of corrupting the game (what used to happen) it reverts to the last saved date. Could that be happening to you?

tgit 10-04-2007 10:07 PM

Thought I had things running properly, until I got to Jan. 31 and hit the "Finish Today" button. Game crashes every time.
