Team Home Page Injuries Display Problem in OOTP8

I apologize if this has been reported previously; however, I could not find it in a search of the Tech Support area:

I am having a problem with the Team home page injury text display in OOTP8. The reported injury on the team home page does not match the injury that occurred to the player and that is on the player record. Note the news about Coutlandt's tight "tricep muscle" below --- and the reported "fractured wrist" in the injuries box for Courtlandt.

This problem appears throughout my league. The league was imported into OOTP8 from OOTP2007. I am not, as yet, sure whether it happens with injuries created within OOTP8 or if it is just a problem with the import from OOTP2007. This problem did not occur in the OOTP2007 league. I am running the 8.0.0.13 patch ... and do not know if the problem was there before installing the patch (I might not have noticed it before.)

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Which matches the injury description in the Injuries link from the team home page?

Interestingly enough I can't find tight tricep in the injuries.txt file for OOTP8 or a clean install of OOTP2007.

Have you used an edited injuries.txt file in your 2007 game?

This does sound exactly like the kind of thing that happens when the injuries.txt file is changed. In, say, an injured player's Profile view, the game will remember which line in injuries.txt references the injury, not the injury itself. Say a guy gets a 'bruised cheekbone' (line no. 1 in injuries.txt); the game remembers that his injury is in line 1 of the file. If then you move all the lines in injuries.txt around so 'fractured skull' is now line 1, his diagnosis will change to 'fractured skull' in his Profile view the next time you launch the game. The same sort of thing will happen if you add in new injuries.

Any news stories that have been generated won't update, however, so you can see inconsistent injury descriptions after editing injuries.txt.

Well, that's the cause. I found the OOTP8 Injuries.txt file is 6,523 bytes, while the Injuries.txt file I was using in OOTP2007 is 76,719 bytes. Big difference! I moved the Injuries.txt file I was using in OOTP2007 into the OOTP8 directory and all is well! Since I haven't generated any new injuries in OOTP8 since installing it, I'm okay. Thanks Nutlaw, redsoxford and injury log!!! I didn't knowingly change the injuries.txt file in OOTP2007, but I did use a couple of universe loads, which is probably where I got an edited injuries.txt file.

Thanks again for all the help!!! I'm all set now! :-)
