The Year 1901 will not import.

Version: 2.0.3.68
PC/MAC: PC
What were you doing? I was trying to import a new 1901 historical league with Lahman 5.5.
What happened? When I pressed the import season button the game crashed. I accidentally imported 1977 on accident one time and no crash occurred. I tried reinstalling the game and tried reinstalling the game while deleting all of the My Documents\Sports Interactive files to no avail.
Reproducible? Yes

Are you using the League Creation Wizard to do this? If so, could you try not using that to see if it will work the manual way? Another user just posted that that solved a similar problem a couple of days back.

Are you talking about the "Add Historical League" button in Advanced Mode? Because that didn't work either.

Nutlaw 05-27-2008 09:50 AM

Are you trying to import the entire league history? Could you try running it without that option?

burnstuff 05-27-2008 12:17 PM

No, I am not trying to import the entire league history. I suspect it's a RAM problem. I'm going to unlicense, install on another computer (with 2 GB of RAM instead of 512 MB) and let you know how it goes.

I switched to Lahman 5.4 and everything works fine now. There really should be a warning that Lahman 5.5 and OOTP 2007 don't work together.

This exact thing happened to me, with OOTP8, including lahman 5.4 worked but 5.5 didn't.

I spent hours troubleshooting everything.

Let me help you, it's easy.

Completely uninstall OOTP8, or OOTP7, if that's what you're using. I mean, search for every folder that includes any installed components.

Windows Vista (what I have), has 2 main install locations. If you auto-uninstall, it only uninstalls the data files under user/documents/out of the park/ootp8/data. This is not the actual game engine data file, (it's the file used for all the mods) but it needs to be uninstalled too.

The actual game engine data file is in: `program files/out of the park dev/ootp8/etc

You will probably need to manually uninstall/delete the main game engine files, just like I did.

If you have Windows XP, find all the folders with installed components, and uninstall/delete as needed.

Then, once all OOTP components are completely uninstalled, you can do a fresh re-install.

Make sure you're patched up to current.

This is what I did, and everything works perfect now. I can import any year, right from the wizard, like I used to do.

I'll check back here, if you have any questions.

Huh. That's interesting. I hadn't heard it before. Can anyone else verify this behavior? Does Lahman 5.5 work with OOTP 8?

Lahman 5.5 works fine with OOTP8.

As I say in my post above, I had the same trouble.

But, I completely uninstalled all installed components, and with Windows Vista at least, these are found in two different file locations.

You're not going to fix the problem unless you locate and uninstall all installed components of OOTP8.

For Windows Vista these are;

1) user/documents/out of the park develop/ootp8
2) program files/out of the park develop/ootp8

Once I completely uninstalled, I was able to do a fresh, clean install and now everything works perfect.

I can use Lahman 5.5 to start a historical game all the way back to 1901, with the wizard or using the advanced mode.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll leave this thread open in case burnstuff has further questions, as you suggested.

As this thread has gone a week without a reply, it will now be closed for housekeeping reasons. If you need any further assistance with this issue, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support and we'll do our best to work through it with you. Thanks.
